I have been reading this novel for a while now and I can say this is a very fun novel. Got all the troops of a Korean Fantasy Novel->Reincarnation, OP MC, People looking down on them. I am not saying that its a bad thing but its there.

To people who think this is just another generic Korean Novel they won't be wrong but I argue that even after being a generic novel with most common troops what it does, it does well. MC being Op n using knowledge from his... more>> previous life n making his current life better. Helping his fallen family get back up in power. Everything is done well that to while maintaining a good pacing. The side characters are pretty good as well not just random cardboard cut outs, they have their own personality and motivations, which is good.

Best thing about this novel would be is that it actually checks out the tag of Crazy. Like when they say the MC is crazy they mean crazy-Bro acts first and thinks later which makes normal generic interactions fun. He fights like a crazy person, he thinks like a crazy person and he trains like a crazy person. I very rarely see authors going down a personality route for a reincarnated MC, like for example most novels where the MC has reincarnated n used be a evil/demonic/crazy person ends up being a righteous piece of reused ass every time. But here in this novel Crazy is CRAZY n its Fun.

The only major complain I have with this novel is that even after 105+ chaps the world building is not that great and it feels like it would need more chaps for it to fully flush out. FYI when I mean world building I mean the world itself and the scale of things like the Divine Clans and Noble Clans etc.

Lastly The Translation is very good as well n Its a highly recommended novel from me. Not the best out there but pretty good. <<less

First off, skip the prologue. I hate when novels make u read prologues but it's turns out to be random irrelevant gibberish of the very distant future sneak peek. Just skip it, it ruined the flow and makes u confused as heck.

And with that said... it started off as an interesting story. The cards were in the right place. But the development following afterwards was not.

Every plot device to move the plot forward is a cheap antagonist as every side character is a easily triggered antagonist relationship, like whatd you... more>> see in every other Chinese novel. Every character not trying to pick a fight with the MC is a hardly mentioned and flat supporting type character.

The whole world building history of the future he got reincarnated into (300 years) makes little to no sense either and has plenty of plot holes. The blatant weak thin plot armor to explain how things are so are everywhere. And even the different mana Cultivation system that gained popularity after the former op one fell, just so happens to be one level worse when compared to the latter, even at high stages, yet at the same time our MC can beat the so called power difference as a 0 circle mage against a 3 star and a 1 circle against a 4 star.

I only saved this from the 2 star rating as I'd hope it'd improve after the first arc as it did have a goodish start and a interesting enough setting to play with <<less

Hi Guys! Hope you're all doing well. This is my first time doing this, so... here we go.

First off, I'll say if you're into series like Crazy Demon, I'd say this series will be right up your alley.

The series starts with Ruin, the protagonist, dying while trying to finish off the expedition to kill the Demon King of the Demon Realm/Yin Dimension. After his death, he is reincarnated as the eldest son of the Samael Clan, the clan he was apart of in the past. The Samael clan was once... more>> known as the greatest clan on the continent and as the most powerful magical clan on the continent. It was one of the 6 great clans that funded and spearheaded the Demon Realm Expedition; unfortunately, it seems after the expedition the clan took the greatest amount of damage and fell into (no pun intended) ruin. Now our MC, a full-fledged Samael in this life, is coming to terms with the current situation. At first he's reluctant to get too involved with the clan and was planning on escaping due to the memories of the past and the pain it brings. However, it's because of how much the people in the current Samael still remind him of his companions in the past that he resolves himself to restore the clan to it's former glory.

That's the jist of the beginning portion of the series's first arc. In this instance, I'd like to lump the series into two major arcs currently:

Spoiler

The Bayern Arc and the Urgon Arc

[collapse]

I don't want to get too far into spoilers, so I'll list a few of the things I like and one gripe I had so far and then end the review.

First off, I like the characters in the series a lot; they all got their own quirks and fun moments with good action scenes. I especially like the MC. Ruin reminds me of a more... how should I put this... balanced version of the MC from Crazy Demon. He's got interesting thoughts and perspectives; he's also got great comedy moments as well and the author knows how to balance the crazy moments with the serious moments he's in. He's a proactive protagonist that moves the story forward in an interesting direction. The Side cast does well to bounce off of him and they create heartwarming and fun moments that solidifies the plot in my mind.

Now, moving on from the characters, I'd like to talk about the action again. The action is very fluid and flows nicely. I can get a sense that, at the very least, the author has some idea of how to write fight scenes and knows how their characters fight and how they want to... I guess use the fight to push their points and Narritives forward.

The overall plot and lore are nothing unique, but it does have it's own interesting takes and twists on the genre. Personally speaking, I haven't read a story where:

Spoiler

The entire field of magic basically regressed, and now mages are using cores instead of circles.

[collapse]

The Demon realm and the Yin mana are also interesting too; once again, it's nothing unique, but in my eyes, it provides a lot of mystery and intrigue into the world of Crazy Mage. The main questions the series presents are what's going to be the main driving force of this series, and I hope that the story can give satisfying answers to these questions in the future.

Now that I'm done listing the things I like, I'll list one thing that did bug me. I feel like during the
Spoiler

Middle Protion of the Bayern Arc

[collapse]
of the arc. In retrospect, I can see why the arc is necessary, and it did end with a satisfying conclusion. I just hope the other can limit the portions that can potentially drag out the series.

Overall, I'd say the series is worth a try, and I would encourage anyone who's interested to give this series a shot. Happy Readings! <<less

it's really good. Very intricate plot. Ending came on really fast and perfectly timed at the same time but left with a little uncertainty on some questions. Very unique magic system setups imo. I love the consistent theme of insanity, the heavy history behind everything, the connected relationships snd the distortions of narrative. I feel like this novel did a really good job of directly confronting a lot of themes similar genre novels avoid: insanity, distortion of history/truth, codependency in adversity, trauma, grief, etc. I got chills so many times... more>> and cried more than once reading this. The resolve of the dying. The desperation to kill just one more demon. The indescribable bond of fighting and surviving with strangers for years until you know each other more intimately than family. And the stunning magic, incantations, descriptions, etc. Kudos to the tl and author. Gorgeous writing especially with the flashbacks/hallucinations ruin experiences which are so visceral. Its also well balanced out with plenty of comedy mixed w seriousness. Ruin is a very straightforward character. He really is a crazy mage but he has the skills to back up his insanity and confidence. Side characters were also very engaging and likable (shoutout don quixote pub reference) with their own backstories, no romance/flirting which I loved, lots of identity mysteries and detective work investigations mixed with battles and boss fights, and I loved the way MC builds up his family and allies. All in all excellent novel and plotline and I loved it. I wish the author would have like a few extra chapters to explain the ending a little more bc I feel like I didn't understand the final chapter very well but also potentially just a me problem. Lots of love to this one. I really liked being in ruin's head. He understands the wordless grief and longing, and the insanity that swallows you whole so silently.

remmeber the crimson rain. Even if I perish today upon this mountain of blood, I shall advance without fail. For samael <<less
