The Fifth Young Lady of the residence of Marquis Chang Xing was wrongly carried away upon birth and the daughter of a farmer became a Young Lady by accident. The real daughter of the Marquis residence lived amongst the commoners and suffered for thirteen difficult years.

On the thirteenth year, Chu Jin Yao finally returned to her biological parents’ side. However, the awkward thing was that Mother disliked her for having vulgar manners and wholeheartedly loved the previous ‘daughter’. Even Grandmother could not bear to send the granddaughter she had doted on for thirteen years back to the farming family and made the decision to allow the fake daughter to stay on and continue to be the Young Lady of a Marquis lineage.

Chu Jin Yao, who grew up in a poor family, was out of place in the Marquis Residence. After yet another hindrance from her younger paternal cousin sister, Chu Jin Yao was shedding tears in her room when she discovered that her jade pendant could speak.

Her jade pendant had a bad temperament but would heed to her complaints, help her in the residence battles and provide her guidance to oppress scums.

It wasn’t until one day when Chu Jin Yao had an encounter with the infamously violent Crown Prince.

This novel made me cry in a few parts because the FL’s pain was portrayed so well. It was such a good story, and the familial relations were also quite realistic. The only dissatisfaction I had was the emperor’s ending.

Good story, both MC and ML are very likeable and their love has a solid basis of togetherness in difficult times and trust in each other. MC is not a holy mother but not scheming either, she's kind to others but she's also tough where it's required.

The tough life of women in ancient times is very well written, depicting their pains and helplessness.

There are no 2-bit cannon fodders with their s*upid schemes and exist for just face slapping opportunities... Antagonists are also well written and the schemes and their turnover... more>> is interesting.

Considering that the main character is female, may be author didn't want to go deep in political drama or writing war etc. and focus more on the harem - after all the foreshadowing and build up, the ending was a bit too abrupt...

There is more romance than drama but still has it's own suspense moments... all in all, a good read! <<less

A well written historical romantic story which shows growth progress. From rags to riches for the fl. The story line has all the cliche plots but well developed.

the emperor is really a s*upid man and empress xiaoqi like shameless she could have anyone but wanted her sisters husband and tha too under inconceivable circumstances she had sleep with him like wth and how easily the emperor wwas kept in dark by the su and that advisor guy like come on he has been sitting there quite a while atleast show that intelligence but these make story realistic

This one is very different from the other two completely tl'd novel of September, probably because this one is throne related novel.

I gotta say, its very good and well written. I like MC's character, from a weak girl to a calm, smart crown princess! The transition was well done. The ML has not much going on except for his love for MC, even then, he didn't appear that much in the first half, and in the second half he's always fighting here and there. I cant say that they barely... more>> got time together since there are scenes that are sweet, but it is fewer.

The antagonists were let off lightly actually, they were only killed in a sentence so that's kinda a bummer.

The prince in a pendant plot disappeared I think on approx chapter 50 and barely got a flashback, so it was as if it was just done for the premise and gradually forgotten as the plot goes on.

But, it was actually very good. The political plot part was nicely done and it was very enjoyable to read. Though I don't know if I would read it again after its completely tl'd as some parts of it were not my type. <<less

Romance is great and plot was pretty interesting. But the final arc of the book was pretty bad and it genuinely pulled down the entire book because it was so anticlimatic, illogical and completely unrealistic.

Whew! I read the mtl version and that was a harsh experience, thus the 3 stars.

I loved the fl. Most Chinese royal intrigue drama try to paint the FL as super smart and infallible when she mostly depends on the ml's power. I love that it was clear from the start that she depended on the ML so I didn't expect any grand schemes from her and wasn't disappointed either. This wasn't to say that she was s*upid. She was quick on her feet when schemed against & didn't tolerate... more>> any injustice.

It always bothers me when authors allude to a prince's power without actually showing how he gathers, maintains or uses that power. I love that:

-we see why officials support him in court. The emperor is unreliable

-we see how he gains military power. He actually goes to the border to fight

I love the dynamic of the ML amd fl. However, I wish their love scenes were more descriptive. E.g. Do they ever say "I love you"?

The ending of all antagonists was extremely disappointing.

1. Xiao Qi was a worthy antagonist. She was despicable but she owned it. It was just disappointing that she fell into a scheme when she was the queen of long end schemes. I suppose it was a fitting end.

2. Consort Shu and Prince Su just died? That's it? What about their reputations? Did ML reveal their scheme to annihilate 300000 soldiers? What about princess Su?

Some characters I'm too frustrated to get into: Chu Jin Miao, mme Zhao, the emperor. None of their actions made any sense. These are the kind of characters written just to hold reader's hate. <<less

Seriously this is highly recommended!!

It is as angsty and plot-driven as The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. But you'll still enjoy some sweet and endearing moments now and then. ❤️❤️ Great translation zazajunnie team, kudos!!

I started MTL-ing after chapter 33 (most recent translation as of the time I'm writing this.) To basically summarise this story, it's about a girl who goes from poor to rich family after finding out her true origin, and makes a close friend through a jade pendant. The story isn't focused on the romance between MC and ML, but more on how MC grows, so if you don't like that, I suggest you don't read it. The things that MC goes through gets super distressing after ML is able to... more>> become human again, and you might sob yourself away while reading it. It gets better when the two get married cause now they can solve the issues tgt, but then the empress f*cking comes in.

The other reviews have alr said a lot, so I will just state some points here. MTL-ing this novel is not easy. I didn't understand quite a lot of it, even though I sobbed because you will only be able to get the gist of it but not the details. As mentioned, the romance is not the focused. MC finds out she likes ML quite early on (maybe chapter 40+?), which is why she wasn't willing to marry anyone. The romance starts officially imo when the two get married. I will be reading the translated version again cause details were missed, and also, I didn't see the ML say he like MC even once.

Last point I wanted to state here is based on ML. It's also the reason why I placed 4 stars instead of 5. I understand that MC has to grow, but it's very painful to see her grow and go through all this bullsh*t without anyone to seek comfort in nor rely on. She can only hold onto the thought of ML, which she doesn't even know for sure if ML is really ML irl, while going through and handling all these situations like a queen. As such, when the ML gets reintroduced after a while, he honestly feels a little detached. Even when he is mentioned, he isn't able to be there emotionally for her. Even the things he asked his retainers to do to help her, MC gets scared almost all the time because it seemingly comes out of nowhere (good things don't just drop out of the sky).

when you read MC reminiscing about ML telling her she will lead a good life, and then seeing her breaking down because she is comparing to the sh*t she needs to tolerate and the words ML says, you will really feel horrible for her.

Because of this, it honestly feels a little weird seeing ML getting reintroduced when he wasn't able to be there for her.

Overall, the story starts out fluffy, then emotional and sad, then a tiny bit of fluff before it descends into emotional damage again. I like the story, but sadly I don't think I can give it 5 stars. <<less

Great story with good character development. Both the MC and ML are likeable. It might feel a bit slow-paced at times, but honestly, the pacing is just right.

The beginning is quite slow... I felt so sad and angry for the FL. Just when you would feel your heart bursting with the injustice of it all, ML appears! Until the end, there was no explanation why he's in the bracelet but it doesn't really matter. Even if it was only a plot device, I don't mind because I love the FL and ML.

FL's personality is so refreshing. She's so authentic and strong. She has no time travel or modern day knowledge to her arsenal but her power comes... more>> from within. She's also not the not-like-other-girls girl, she's just very diligent and the way ML fell in love with her is so authentic too. You understand why he fell in love with her.

ML - He's so funny at the beginning! but damn! He really earned her love. He kept all his promises and made his mom proud coz damn... out of all the dead mom background story... his has to be one of the most... yikes. just yikes.

No to the emperor, empress Xiao Ci and Mother Zhao (FL's mom). Just no.

I love the sisterhood here.

The fake daughter - yikes.

Overall, a good easy read. <<less

This is not a story about the FL faceslapping all those who scheme against her, in fact, nothing really bad happens to most of them.

This is a novel that focuses more on the FL's journey. She was mistakenly swapped at birth and had a hard time at her foster home. Even when she's taken back to her biological family, they didn't care about her.

FL struggled a lot and had been wronged many times. But her saving grace is the fact that she had ML to teach her what to do... more>> and how to survive. She thought he was a jade spirit and their time together was quite short imo. Yet FL took his teachings to heart and with her perseverance and diligence, she managed to overcome a lot of troubles. (Alongside ML's help).

So this really isn't about FL being OP. She fails sometimes too. She suffers and cries and is weak. But it is her strength to keep on going that makes me admire her. This story feels so real because life doesn't always go FL's way.

The bad people don't always get bad endings. Her family who didn't treat her well still live well imo.

I still really enjoyed this story. I liked reading about FL growing into herself and becoming strong, finally being a revered Empress.

A slow and steady story. <<less

Pretty good ! Again, the author of GNU coming out with bangers with respectful MLs who value the MCs intelligence. The MC is pretty similar to the MC in GNU, but is simply green behind the ears because she didn’t grow up in this environment. I also would say that the relationship in this novel is a bit more boring in comparison. No real hurdles between the two of them, and only really canon fodders pushing the story along conflict wise. Story is quite enjoyable. There were some parts that you can just speed read through. Both mains are likable. Though the part where the FL couldn't recognize the ML after so many direct clues is off putting. Especially that only a few chapters before her father commended her keen insight after just a few clues.
