By the time I realized that the absolute rule of the military also applied to the position of the crown prince, it was already too late.

Tbh, this webnovel surprised me. It's not really popular currently in NU, but it's trending in novelpia, it deserves more attention than it's getting. The story follows a Crown Prince who's insanely competent at everything, to the point where he starts feeling bored with his repetitive and predictable work (he's very responsible and a workaholic). So instead of going full rebel or whatever, he ends up making a contract with an ArchDemon and gives him a kind of clone technique, basically letting himself have another body to live through.... more>> That's where things start to get interesting.

The plot has a lot going on, but it doesn't feel messy. It has direction. There's an actual story here, not just a bunch of character moments or emotional highs thrown around to keep readers invested. There's structure to the flow, and even if it leans into some familiar tropes, the way it handles them is way more refined than I expected. It's not just drama for the sake of it, and the characters actually do things that matter to the world they live in. The story is quite philosophical (?), it basically delves into the psychology of people, their perception of the world, and how they remain determined despite the injustice and unfairness the nobility has to offer, or something... Of course, I'm talking about the neighboring kingdom, not the MC's kingdom, not much he can do except solve small problems unnoticed in another territory.

One thing I really liked is how the heroines are written. They're not just there to fill the romance quota or to be emotional punching bags. Each of them has an actual role to play, and their arcs affect the bigger story. You can feel that they matter, and it's not just about the MC fixing their lives and moving on. Even if their arcs are shorter, they still leave an impression. Their character development shows, not just gets explained. And they aren't just damsel in distress, they are all strong and independent. They can stand on their own. The dialogues and character dynamics are also a highlight. I really love the interactions between the MC's clones and the heroines, each line they utter feel so meaningful, I can really feel those emotions, summarizing it, it is PEAK.

Lucidra (ArchDemon), especially, stands out. She's like the biggest threat in the whole story, clearly the final boss-type character, but she doesn't get the usual flashy villain treatment. Alondre treats her like some background fairy, but you can feel how dangerous she really is. It's like, even if she looks like she's failing all the time, you just know that if even one of her plans actually works, it could spell the end for everything. But Alondre (MC) being so competent basically keeps her stuck, which honestly just adds more tension to her scenes.

Reading this really reminded me of Life Simulation. The resemblance is hard to ignore, especially with how both stories use that whole "new body, new life" setup. It feels like the pattern is kind of the same: MC gets a new body, a problem shows up, then comes the heroine, they go through something together, she gets her problem solved, and in the end, the MC dies. It's that same loop. I still can't erase Life Simulation from my mind because this novel feels like it was built on a similar structure, but at the same time, it does it so much better.

The biggest difference is how both stories handle their plots. Life Simulation is more of a character-driven type. It focuses heavily on the MC's emotions and the heroines' journeys, but not really on what's happening in the world. It doesn't care much about the bigger picture. It just tells you what happened through system prompts or plain paragraphs. There's a lot of time skips, and while we're told what the characters go through, we barely get to feel any of it. It's like we know they suffered or changed, but we don't see it happening. And because of that, it kind of falls flat emotionally, even after spending years in the story's timeline.

This one, though? It actually shows things. You get to see how relationships develop. You feel the slow changes in each character. And even though the arcs with each heroine are shorter than in Life Simulation, they hit harder because they're better written and more connected to the world. These heroines aren't just love interests, they're people who affect the story around them. Their actions have weight. They don't just exist to be saved and then disappear. (Life Simulation's heroines do appear again, but they have no more weight to the story after their character arc)

Another thing is that Life Simulation leans too much on the idea of drama. Like, it wants to make you feel things, but it forces it too much, and that's all there is. There's no real world-building or plot progression outside the MC's personal journey. But in this one, there's balance. Sure, there's still drama, but there's also a proper storyline. Things happen, and the MC's choices and actions matter. He's not just reacting to life, he's actively doing things that change the direction of the plot.

Now, I'm not saying Life Simulation is bad. I liked it too. It has its good moments. But this webnovel just does things cleaner. It's better executed. The emotions feel earned, not forced. The pacing makes more sense. The world reacts to what the characters do, instead of just moving along like it's on autopilot. And honestly, that makes a huge difference.

So yeah, while both novels have their own approach and aren't exactly masterpieces, this one feels more complete. There's more to latch onto than just emotional scenes. There's a story here, and it's told in a way that really sticks with you.

I'd say this novel isn't perfect, but it has a clear idea of what it wants to do. And it doesn't waste your time getting there. If I had to give it a number, I'd say maybe around 4.5/5. But considering how low its rating is compared to the actual quality, I'm still giving it 5 stars. It just deserves more attention than it's getting.

PS. I'm not really sure about the future tho, I really hope the previous heroines becomes more significant in the story outside of their own character arc. I really like Blanca's character arc despite it being short. HOPIUM.

Also, arc 5 is really funny because the MC isn't even a living organism anymore. It's not even a clone, it's a whole ahh unique individual. Personally, Arc 1 and Arc 4 is the best arcs for me. Arc 5 looks promising, but it's still incomplete.

I forgot to discuss side-characters, but they are also great, they make actual impacts in the story, they aren't just fodders or minor villains.

For the first couple of arcs, you might think the world-building is shallow, but it gets expanded at each arc.

Also, here's my character sheet : Major Characters

An excellent “multiple lives” novel where the MC role plays as different people using a cloning technique and treats it like a recreational activity. His “characters” become very important to the main heroine per arc and they practically fall in love with him. There are currently 4 heroine arcs with roughly 30 chapters or so dedicated to each of them.

Let's talk about the MC. He’s a bit of a Gary Stu, he’s overly competent in every single way but the story takes advantage of his perfection by making him feel... more>> inhuman (in a good way). He’s smart and strong but he’s so far up in nobility he doesn’t fully understand how most people think and feel. I’ll speak on this later but keep in mind everything in the box is a spoiler for the first arc. Skip the spoiler for the final thoughts.

Spoiler

First arc is his adventurer arc. Arc about an overly perfect adventurer that is incredibly powerful. He meets the first heroine, a kuudere type, who has a whole backstory of trying to be an adventurer to defeat the lich that killed her mother. All ends neatly as they both defeat the lich and his clone dies in the process. Standard stuff but what makes it excellent is the end where he openly admits to her that it’s just a clone. He straightforwardly admits to her to ease her guilty conscience. Of course, she believes she’s just trying to comfort her and accepts it.

This is where it shines. This MC is not s*upid but s*upid in the correct areas. Smart enough and social inept enough to understand the guilt of his clones death will cause upon her but s*upid enough to not understand that NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE HIM. 2nd arc has a similar scene and I believe it’s what sets it apart from other multiple lives novel.

In conclusion, this is an excellent novel if you enjoy multiple lives or role play novels where an MC pretends to be someone else and inevitably makes someone fall in love with his character. It’s a harem, it’s only the beginning, he’s still collecting women. But so far, it’s a great treat if you’re a fan of the genre. Even if you don’t like harems, there’s barely a harem yet anyways so I think there’s still merit for solid romance enjoyers out there. At the end of the day, read it. I can’t recommend it enough.

  1. Credits to Sanitary Engineer for most of this write up. I couldn't of written up a better review after seeing his. Just wanted to share his thoughts to encourage more people to consider reading this.
