hey, translator here. This story caught my attention from the beginning, and I deeply enjoyed it. Like many of the author's other stories, it starts with a lighthearted premise and lots of comedy and gradually weaves in an interesting plot, deeper themes, and some angst. The ending is very philosophical and cosmic. Throughout, there's a healthy focus on the protagonists' romance, which is sweet, trusting, and forces both characters to grow as people in order to realize a more healthy dynamic.

if I had to compare the main dynamic to something,... more>> i'd say the MC is like a more innocent and puppy-like yan wushi, and the ML is like a less righteous, more tired and self-hating shen qiao (both characters being from thousand autumns). The setting is dark, but counterbalanced by lighthearted moments from the main couple, and a lot of hope is injected. The main part of the story is about the duo solving some well-thought-out mysteries.

overall, I really enjoyed the relationship, the side characters were funny, and the plot was engaging. Also, there is a dog. Anyway, I hope you give it a shot. <<less

Duanmu Wuqiu, our MC, the supreme demon lord is like a puppy. He is innocent, tsundere (a little bit), love-struck baby. All he wants is Luo Xianyun, the ML.

The ML is the elder of a righteous sect and the only person who truly understood our poor MC. The world has never been kind to MC. But he doesn't really care, as long as no one troubles him, he wouldn't do anything to trouble others.

No has ever defended him, tried to understand his speech, understand his emotions, but ML did.... more>> ML protected him and his valley.

I cried when I read, how carefully Duanmu Wuqiu build his valley, his home, only to be destroyed by selfish people. Fortunately, our ML protected our MC's home in this life.

Their is a major spoiler about the system, but I won't write it. I guessed it halfway through the novel. First I was having mixed thought but then I was sure of the identity of the two systems.

It was also really fun and adorable to see our MC snatching family members for himself. Sister Ruan, He Juanglin (idk if I typed that right), Song Gui, Elder Duan and Wangcai!

I felt little bit bad and little bit gloating for Elder Duan! He wanted to act as an elder and father to Duanmu but our little devil lord can't accept that!

It was such a refreshing novel to read! I like the ML and MC's relationship!! I would highly recommend this. It is such a fresh breath of air.

Author Cyan Wings always makes me laugh, and this novel definitely feels even on the more light-hearted, slapstick side for them!

The dynamic between the super-straightforward Eeeevil Lord Duanmu Wuqiu who really just wants to retire and fish with his dog, and the apparently prim and proper, yet pragmatic and genuinely good-hearted Luo Xianyun and their respective Destructive and Saviour Systems is so, so funny. I'm really enjoying the way they actually talk to each other and negotiate sticky situations - it's hilarious as their viewpoints/knowledge are so very different, and... more>> there's amazing comedy both in as their points go sailing over the other's head, and as they leave the other helpless when they clash and twist logic/reason against each other. It's also really funny, yet sweet how susceptible Duanmu Wuqiu is to Luo Xianyun's super sincere praise - positive reinforcement for the win!

This is truly a wholesome delight, despite the background of bad evil cultivator things. In many ways it feels very similar in vibe to Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know but from these opening chapters, and looking at the overall chapter count, I suspect this one will be much more tightly written, and as much as I enjoyed Devil Venerable, I'm already enjoying this one more. So if you already enjoyed Devil Venerable, this one is highly recommended.

(The translator is doing a fantastic job with the tone and language too - thank you mourningcrow for such a smooth experience. I have been left chortling happily through all the chapters!) <<less

This novel is so packed but in the best way. It's gripping and progresses beyond what the synopsis teases. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something worthwhile but still pretty short. It's only around 60-70 chapters, but it doesn't feel too fast or slow, it's just right and full of meat! The CP are kind of pure, spirited and full of doting.

5 stars. A great read from start to finish. The extras are short and focus on other characters but somehow perfectly ends the novel. MC and ML (both could be considered protagonists however) are complete opposites and boy do they attract each other.

In the turbulent times when spiritual energy is weak and heavenly law no longer restrains cultivators, whether righteous or demonic, no one is innocent and everyone is full of selfish desires. Our Demon Lord MC was born in these times and has never been loved by the world.... more>> With a harsh mortal life and torturous yet speedy cultivation in the demonic path against his will, he just wants to rest. His thoughts and desires are simple and straightforward, which endears him to the ML who is used to the calculating minds of others.

Meanwhile, our ML is a relic before the fall of heavenly law, once the top righteous cultivator born with heavenly roots and favored by the heavens, he is now less than half of what he once was, after sacrificing himself to patch the heavenly pillar that had broken. ML is restrained and patient, which allows him to see through mc’s harsh exterior. No one expects more from ML than ML himself, which is part of what makes ML a never before seen fairy like figure to MC. Together they are sweet and funny.

Many side characters, whether allies or villains have their own ambitions and intrigues, making for a lively and fast paced story. The author is very adept at moving the story without sacrificing entertainment and character interactions. The MC and ML are both sympathetic characters and deserve their happy ending. <<less

5 stars. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Sweet. Fluffy. Comedic. That would probably be the most concise description I could give this work.

While not too long, this novel did not feel rushed or incomplete – (You could probably read all of it within 2 days if you're like me). I loved the characterizations of each person, especially our two Protagonists and their dynamic with each of their respective systems. If I had to describe Duanmu Wuqiu, I'd say he's a reluctantly [counter-] productive drama queen/narcissist (depending on who you... more>> ask). Whereas Luo Xianyun, I'd probably describe him as the Bingqiu's love child (for those of you who've read SVSSS, compare literally everything else to it, and can see certain Bingmei and A-Yuan personality traits).

This is a light read, yet very intriguing. So for now, Imma take page out of Duanmu Wuqiu's book and let you figure out the rest. ❤️ <<less
