“I wish to repay your kindness.”

After saving the world, the warrior Sascha secluded herself in the mountains, living a quiet life—until a mysterious XX approached her. The man who introduced himself as Aderton was breathtakingly beautiful, full of secrets… and downright indecent.

“Would it be acceptable if I repaid you in this way?”

Her peaceful(?) days continued—until one day, he suddenly vanished. And just as abruptly, he reappeared.

This time, with an outrageous declaration.

“We have a child. Marry me for just three years—for the child’s sake.”

A man who seemed gentle on the surface yet hid his true intentions deep beneath his charming facade—suspicious to the core.

What was he really after?

I'm not here to criticize some of the weirder plot elements of this story, although rest assured that they exist. My main criticism was that it feels like the author wanted to have their cake and eat it too with regards to the female lead's characterization. It feels like the author wanted a Strong Overpowered Female Lead with a Tragic Past but also a conditionally helpless female lead who ~just can't resist~ the male lead. The author also wanted a Tough Grizzled Looking Female Lead but also a Female Lead... more>> with Perfect Feminine Curves, so of course Sascha has scars and abs but has slender arms and legs (as someone who wields a broadsword? Lol) and big b**bs and butt. I know this is smut so I should just suspend my disbelief about the female lead having a p*rn star body but I found myself kind of disappointed that the author didn't take the chance to do something even a little different and really lean in to the attractiveness of a fully muscular warrior-build woman. As a result there was frequently a sense of discordance for me, especially regarding the s*x scenes.

Spoiler

A good example would be the very first s*x scene, in which Sascha actually makes a move on the male lead first, quite aggressively and confidently. I thought to myself "Oh wow are we going to have a female lead who is an active or perhaps even dominant participant rather than a passive recipient?". No, of course not. As soon as the male lead reciprocates, he immediately pushes past a boundary and she starts repeatedly telling him "no" and "stop. I don't want to do this anymore." while trying to push him away "with all her strength". But of course he doesn't listen and this is basically how all of the smut goes. This is, of course, typical for the genre but once again Sascha is supposed to be the strongest warrior who saved the world from a dragon and she gets so easily overpowered and then doesn't think anything of it? Is she really this passive? It doesn't just feel out of character, it feels like during the s*x scenes she gets replaced with Smut Heroine #256 altogether.

Other than that, there are smaller instances as well where for the sake of a comedic moment the narrative chooses to ignore that Sascha is supposed to be basically the strongest person in the world. In one scene she's shown leaping into treetops to slay demonic birds and then later she can't snatch a piece of paper from the male leads hands because he's taller than her and ~she just can't jump that high~. She playfully chases the male lead around a small dining table for a few laps and gets out of breath. She gets her period and is bedridden all day as if stomach cramps would be something a hardened warrior would be unable to overcome. Every once in a while the author will have Sascha curbstomp someone to remind us that she's strong but it's usually such lowstakes situations that she just smacks them once and they're unconscious.

This ended up too long. I have no reason to be so pressed about this but when I see a description that promises me a strong grizzled female warrior, I guess I foolishly expected that that's what I would actually get.

[collapse]

Putting that aside, I don't actually dislike Sascha even if I was disappointed. The plot is interesting and there's a decent amount of intrigue when it comes to the male lead's true intentions. <<less
