I don't know what to think about this novel. I believed it had great potential, a modern independent woman transmigrates into an entirely patriarchal world and instead of panicking, she begins to plan how to make the best of her situation (in her case being comfortable and eating good food lol) This really pulled me into the story and then seeing that most if not all male characters of the novel were constantly being roasted for being s*um automatically sold me the novel. The protagonist Ji Man is also not... more>> a saint, but a pragmatic person that doesn't enjoy hurting others, but will manipulate them and play with them for her benefit. Up to here it was good for me, but then, nearing the second part of the story... I felt like the pace was suddenly rushed towards a "everything got settled" happy ending. Well, even though I'm unsatisfied with the ending, the novel is well written and the translation is impressive, obviously a lot of work was put into it. <<less

This novel was a great read. At first, I was persuaded by the low ratings and comment so I didn't read it until I needed a new book to read. I finished this novel in about three days. If you like To Be a Virtuous Wife, Chongfei Manual, and Transmigrator Meets Reincarnator, then you will enjoy this book. I believe the low ratings were due to the ML. We are reading a novel based in ancient china, things like multiple wives and using marriage for political gains are quite common.... more>> If you read this with an open mind, you will not regret it. There are many novels where the ML were jerks in the beginning but redeemed themselves at the end.

So, about this novel...

This is not how romance look like, no, not really.

As an intrigue-grim-realistic story about modern woman in a very toxic household with unloving, shrewd and cruel husband, scheming concubines and so little joy in life it's practically nonexistent, it's good. Solid four stars or more. Give it a try if I you into this kind of stories.

There is always a possibility I didn't like this novel just because I am a weak pathetic woman, who enjoys only fluffy light stories, one can't be completely sure. But, if... more>> you are like me and prefer novels with more or less decent leads and genuine love with drama and suffering complimenting the story, not making one, stay away from "Dreamer", preserve your hearts. <<less

I understand why most of the people dropped this novel in the middle cause the MD was so annoying at the beginning and did a lot of things that will make your blood boil for some "political" reasons but its not really that bad cause the FD didn't really take any of the things he dead to heart and it was kind of refreshing to see him regretted and try to "make up" for it in the end...

I recommend it for people who like ancient china "harem life" cause what... more>> I enjoyed the most was How the FD dealt with MD concubines <<less

I just cant wait to write a review. The female lead is exceptional. She's clever but without overpowering cheat tricks on her sleves. She reminds me a lot on the female lead for Doomed to be a Canon Fodder. In which she's trying all her might not to get killed. But with failure tricks several times. On the other hand, the male lead... is sooo annoying that if I must rate it from 1 to 10... he's beyond 20.

I understand the culture of Polygamy in ancient china but he's just... more>> waaaaay too manipulative and annoying I just can't stand it.

The only reason I rate it as 4 stars was because the translation site, Fuyuneko has translated it exceptionally well, so that the story's flow is smooth and easy to understand. <<less

Very nice story between MC and ML. At first half you will always curse and swear at ML but once you start very hard to stop because of Amazing MC. Also cannot blame ML because previous MC always do wrong things and give ML headache for 6 year. MC suddenly changed from villains to Super smart, cool and emotionless people make ML start to have interested in her.

1 st hundreds chapters I really hope MC fall in love with secondary ML or other man because to angry with ml. But... more>> slowly he shows interest in MC but still broken MC heart to thousand piece. I almost wish the rest of the story is just Errong, Ji Man, Mingjie, and Qingyun going out on double dates. Sad I not happen. If MC fall in love ML early, I can feel how heartbroken she can be. Just until quite behind then both start to fall in lo love in each other.

Cannot said who use who but they sometimes they will use each other for their own agenda. MC not overbearing or have supernatural power but just intelligence girl. Read a lot of ancient Chinese story but this story setting is very good and most important is not boring. All ML harem full of thorns and b*tch. Each of them have their own agenda and keep betraying ML and work for other people except MC. <<less

5 stars for the Translator Fuyu, thank you for your hard work into translating this book.

The book was a good read. 1 star deducted for the actual story line. I have a confused feeling for this book, sometimes it kept me hooked and other times I didn't feel like continuing. I wanted to finish reading this book only because of the translators efforts.

It was a pretty good read. I like how the MC was not hung up over the tr*sh ML. I like the MC most of the time, but sometimes she really irked my nerves so bad with some of the things she said and did. Let's not even talk about the ML. He was alright the later half of the novel, but before, I absolutely despised him. (Lol) He had some nice character development. Also I feel bad for little HaoHao

This is a very entertaining novel as the MC is very realistic of what she can do and has a strong and likable character that makes you want to continue reading about her and not like many MCs that start blushing every time they meet the ML, she knows that the guy is cruel and she is SO right. Well unfortunately she had to give birth to his child and as any mother there is no way she won't be swayed so even if she built as many walls as... more>> she can, not to have feelings for the ML, I can already feel that she will be won over, let's just hope she won't completely forget about his wrongdoings and fall too easily. Well I am still not happy that she has returned to the house that she finally left but the ML is mainly taking advantage of her motherly love so I wish she would just kidnap the kid and leave lol my wishful thinking T_T

I prefer novels where the 2nd male lead makes the main couple struggle since it's more interesting that way so even if the ML's cousin is not that much better than the ML, he is still not as bad as him so I hope he will create some problems for them and make that ML eat some vinegar. <<less

I don't know how to feel about this novel, when the MC transmigrated and throughout the story. It was clear that she just considered this a a dream or a play of some sort. The ML isn't a very good person, sometimes he can be considered ruthless. The MC's actions are sometimes morally questionable and doubtful. She wasn't a perfect character. Not one character here is flawless. The scheming and plotting is good, it keeps you guessing and makes you drop your jaw once it was revealed. Ahhhhhh.... The ML is very frustrating and disgusting to be with... Ai. Real stud horse that thinks in weird ways.

Thr MC is clever and all but at the same time I’m just overly frustrated with the situation that she’s put in because of the ML... And she just agrees with it at times instead of using her quick witted self to try and escape the possibilities.

also, I feel like the MC is good but one part in the book had me shooked and it was quite ironic what she had... more>> done. My respect for her dropped at that moment... but overall, she’s typically good at handling situations and using her modern brain to get out of issues.

I would recommend the novel... if you have patience, otherwise you would be just ranting on some of the things in the novel.

thoroughly enjoyed this novel. And though I know everyone's reading experience is different, I still can't understand how some people would rate this 1-2 stars. It's very well-written and the storyline is quite unique compared to alot of other romance cnovels i've read. The romance is very slow, but I always find slow-burns more satisfying; and I really love the character growth of both MC and ML in this story.

Quality is so good. Like I'm glad I read it but I would never read this again. Max angst I've ever read. This is the one historical novel that opened my eyes and makes me realized oh sh*t, I'm really reading a historical novel. I felt heartache and confusion yet I keep wanting to read more. Def not for light hearted readers. Plot is unique and you won't find another like this. Very realistic rather than fictional. Drama heavy rather than romance heavy. A lot of ppl who rated low... more>> is 100% because of ML. Pretty sure he would be one of the most hated ML on this site. I hate him as well but I feel like you can't read it thinking it's a romance novel.

Just finished this story after binge-reading it for like, 3 days. My brain is mush, so apologies if my words are muddled. I get why it has a somewhat low rating, mostly because it's not your very typical romance story. It has two morally grey characters who are falling in love with each other. I did truly start out hating the ML butttt...... by the end I was rooting for them both. Both the ML and MC have their moments of being INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING, but I think that's what made... more>> them more flawed and relatable. I had to stop thinking of it as a romance story, or looking for romance, then everything got much better. This story made me CACKLE in so many places, and then made me cry too.

ALSO, I think this has the best modern-day-to-ancient-times-transmigrator! Things in our lives are such a part of our thoughts and affect the way we speak, but most of the time in time-travel-transmigration books, the MC just forgets it all and very nicely adapts to ancient speak; but in this, she definitely did not forget. It was part of her vocabulary, whether anyone understood it or not.

Lol at when Ji Man flips off people or wanted to re-enact the Titanic scene on the boat.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this book! Just don't expect an idealistic sort of love to happen in this. Kudos to the translator for an amazing translation. I don't think this story would have been half as much enjoyable in English if it weren't for Fuyu's stellar translation. 11/10, would read it again. <<less

Excellent translation, for starters, absolute praise on that part.

I liked the start of this novel a lot, it was really interesting and I loved the MC. I liked when she had to contend with the original soul she transmigrated into, and when she realized that she could no longer treat this as a novel, a story to be detached from

But as soon as it turned into a romance, it lost me. And it becomes repetitive, loses its dynamic.

It's a shame because I think it could have been a really unique... more>> and unusual novel in this genre but it withers away. <<less

This novel is well written, and we'll translated, but really just not in my cup of tea. Personally I think the FL are sometimes too inconsistent, she will stand as a character then goes as a viewers in the next part. She can't get herself out from all the entanglement that surrounds her even if there is actually chance she could do it. The whole times the FL stay as an helpless character, she is strongly yield at a moment but when it comes to the main scene and important... more>> part, she just act like dead fish and have " it has nothing to do with her" vibe, then grief the next moment when thing don't go as her way. The way the writer giving a wall in weird part just so it come to directed conclusion is weird.

I don't like the unrealistic strong type of FL but this one are just a no no, half assed character in my brutal opinion.

And also the whole plot is.....'sigh'

The author write it from the FL POV, when FL is a passive most of the time when it comes to the political side and ML story, so the political thing is really not to be viewed very well but then make it as a main plot in the story, how weird is that.

Just a reminder if you have a faint heart better not to read it, it will annoy you to death. <<less
