Six months ago, tens of thousands of black phantom towers appeared all over the world, floating above the cities. Chemists, physicists, religious people… all of them could do nothing.

Six months later, people became used to the towers and no longer paid them attention.

One day, Tang Mo saw a flying insect crash into it instead of going through it. The next day, a sharp and clear child-like voice issued an announcement to all humans.

“Ding dong! November 15th, 2017. The earth is online.”

The black tower’s three iron-clad rules:

1. Everything is explained by the black tower.

2. 6 o’clock to 18 o’clock is the game time.

3. All players, please strive to attack the tower.

At the time of writing this ive lost interest in the novel. I really like the ML and MC but the entire novel felt like build up to their relationship getting closer only for nothing to really happen or change, which was disappointing. However the plot and world building is really good and well thought out, it keeps you on the edge of your seat eventhough you know the MC wont die. I might go to finish the novel just to see how the plot is resolved, but for now... more>> I stopped because the characters got dull. 4 stars because I only started to feel uninterested 20 chapters from the end and everything else about the story is really good. If you read expect more plot than romance (there was next to no romance as far up as I read). Also really like the side characters and was genuinely shocked and sad when one of them died. <<less

This novel needs you to read it to the end to know whether it is good or not. The beginning part of this novel might be boring but it gets better as you read more chapters.

Earth is online is my most favourite novel out of all my favourite novels. I like the characters (the MC is monotonous but he's smart), the plot twists which make the story more interesting and mind blowing (i don't get why some people find the plot twists are ridiculous when they are the ones spicing... more>> up the story), the puzzles and games which blown my mind away and the romance even though it's very slow which makes the story more realistic. Some people said that the romance seems forced and unrealistic because it didn't seem to be progressing. I admit that the romance is moving like a snail because it starts at ch 100+ or maybe 200+ (i don't really remember cuz I finished reading this novel long time ago and only writing this review now). But let's be real, how could the MC and ML find the time to fall for each other when all they have to do is think how to survive?

Even though I like it so much, I must admit that it has flaws too but that doesn't make this novel bad. At most, it only deserves to lose one star. You really should read this novel to the end. Don't just say it's boring when you haven't even reached any of the good parts. Have fun reading! <<less

A good and satisfying read.

The plot, the progress of the story, the characters development, the characters.. Everything's so good. But if you're looking for the BL elements, you'll be disappointed since the romantic element is so little and slow building (remember the shounen ai tag).

Also, you may find that some of the settings are complicated, like, really brain wracking, which, honestly bore me at times, but overall, I really, really like the story. The ending is well wrapped, and I'm happy that I picked this up.

I am shocked by how much I loved it. I never wrote a review, but this novel made me want to.

The story is well wrtten and the plot progressed well and as slow I would thought it would

it is smart, the ideas are new and when you are reading any of the puzzles the MC and ML had to go through you could never expect the way it would end or the way it would be solved

It is not just the MCs that are well written, but the side char... more>> and the villains; each had a unique prospective and personality. Some of the characters, although hated, you can’t wait for them to come back.

Overall, one of the best novels I read with Lucia and Common sense of a duke’s daughter.

The novel that pushed me down the BL novels rabbit hole and still one of my favorites. A slow romance/real life survival games/apocalypse goodness that was also hilarious.

The only annoying thing was

that more than once, the MC and ML had some feelings or stuff to discuss and then they also had a few days when they were recuperating or whatever and their other team members were away on some mission or smth. Yet they ALWAYS started talking about those things in like the last 15 min before the others were due home. Why????? You had two days to yourselves!!!

All in all a very pleasurable read. Unless you're afraid of gore or painfully slow romances, I would give it a go! <<less

This story is amazing, the building of the characters and the fact that both MC and ML are strong and they fight for a goal, the development of both the story and the characters are very cool, a very good relationship between MC and ML In an apocalyptic world where intelligence and strength are the only things that will make you survive, we have an MC who always thinks one step ahead.

I like this story. The world, character, twisting plot and puzzle. As soon as I read 1st chapter, I've been "trapped" to read till the end. For me, the idea and execution really good.

At first, I couldn't like it. I tried months later, and discovered that I could. I respect this novel.

Even if you don't like BL, you should read it if you like the summary. In my opinion, the BL was mild, and the focus was mostly on humanity and the towers. That doesn't mean the interactions between the main couple weren't good. They were subtle, but always present.

The story is a gem. Honestly, I often felt offended at how I couldn't understand the intricacies of the games, but then again, I... more>> skimmed their details, but it still shows how high IQ the novel is lmao~ Anyways, most of the games are brilliant and difficult to puzzle out, so having the MC explain the solutions is nice.

The MC isn't OP, merely strong, and I feel that his ability is well balanced. It's not even unique, but it's one of the most useful. It's a really fun ability, hehe.

There were some mysteries left unclear, but I suppose everything was tied up well at the end.

The characters are really good. The enemies have the creepy fairytale vibe, and the side characters, however annoying, are complex and worthy of attention. <<less

1. I hope one day, this book is turned into a miniseries. It definitely deserves it.

2. I would love to read this whole story again from Major Fu POV cause at least he is very aware of his attraction to Tang mo a lot more earlier. Love tang mo but he’s a very reserved person and 95% of his super brain was just focused on surviving which wasnt a bad thing necessarily. But Major Fu definitely had to spell things out for him lol. Plus Fu also had several of... more>> his own adventures.

3. I loved their intimacy and implicit trust in one another.

4. Loved the side characters as well.

This is the most interesting survival novel that I have ever read. The instances that they end up in seem to be something from a demented Alice and wonderland adventure. The NPC's are some of the most interesting that you will ever come across. This book also birthed my favorite character in existence- little Bai Bai (you will know him when you get there and he seems to be a love or hate character), and has a lot of other inspirational characters. The instances are also very well thought out... more>> and one of them stumped me so hard, I am still not sure if I understand it completely (it is the one about the golden bunny, you will know when you get there). The novel is very light in the BL/romance side of things since it's an adventure, apocalyptic, game novel and even the one and only s*x scene was as short as one or two sentences and even mosaiced out! Lol. Everyone who read it questioned that what they had just read was a s*x scene. One of my favorite novels on this site and a Twisted, wild ride even including an odd comedic tone to lighten it up. (｡•̀ᴗ-) ✧ P.S. When I first read this novel, I think I stalled it for a while when reading because it was a bit slow, but this was before the actual apocalypse game started, and will get wild really quick. If you feel bored or offput at the beginning at all, trust me that it gets better really quick and if you love anything like Alice and wonderland, colorful 3D video games, or anything like twisted fantasy at it's max, then you will like this (of course that excludes the Light romance). <<less

There's a part where I think many got confused on, it was on Eve's candidates. Basically, MC got an apple prop, where he got important info about the black tower, but remembered none of it. This was cleared up when he gains actual knowledge by asking the Black Tower questions, thus facing the real world. Eve ate the apple, gained knowledge, and left the world that God put her in.

Words cannot describe how amazing this novel is. The author has constantly astounded me with their imagination and creativity into describing each of the scenarios the MC goes through. Honestly, there isn't much BL in this novel at all, its more of a side thing but the amazing plot makes up for it completely :)

I came for the BL but stayed for the plot! The BL became the side dish while the plot was the main dish! Honest to god, the author thought out the world and it's tower games to an extreme detail that I couldn't stop reading!

A beautiful, interesting novel. :') I will miss reading this. The novel is interesting and hooks you in, and putting it down becomes difficult. It has moments where it was so funny, my family members were looking at me like I was crazy.

I miss reading it already... The characters are so likeable, the story line is so interesting, and is pretty well balanced.

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Important things must be said 3 times. A really exciting story with danger and betrayal lurking everywhere. The MC is very clever but not invincible, he tries his best to figure out the traps, other people's goals and does his best to survive the games. The bosses are also very amusing and quirky, even though they are very scary at times, some of them are quite likeable somehow. Side characters have their own goals and personalities and are not merely background for MC. Hardly any romance though... more>> the couple has deep understanding. The translation is excellent, I enjoyed reading each chapter. <<less

I definitively recommend this, even to people who are not happy with the yaoi tag. The MC just happen to love men and he is in love with the ML and that's all. Aside from this, the story is fantastic. Complexe, intellectual, with a satisfying ending and a decent explanation of the SF part (the apparition of the black tower and the monsters), it also has emotional parts.
