I'm the translator of this novel so I might be biased, but this novel is a really sweet story without much intrigue. Their love story was so smooth, no big misunderstandings, no infatuated second male/female lead. It's full of humor and sweet moments.

I personally like a cute female protagonist who is not omnipotent and an overpowered male protagonist who can literally destroy the world for the female lead, and this novel really suits my taste hehehehe.

So one day, when the leads weren't in love with each other yet, FL had a hobby to feed the fish in the garden as pastime. But, she fed too much so that many fish were died because of eating too much. The servants didn't dare to tell her, but it somehow reached ML's ears. ML hadn't been in love with her yet, but he only told the servants to replace the dead fish with new ones and ordered them not to let FL know about it. Meanwhile, FL still thought that ML liked other girl and wanted to use her as a shield. I DON'T KNOW BUT I FOUND IT VERY CUTE HAHAHAHA.

One more. So, because FL had a good background and 'was very pampered' by the Emperor, many servants tried to please her. So there was a servant who was in charge of distributing the monthly allowance of concubines in the harem. He tried to please her by giving her many valuable and expensive things that shouldn't have been given to concubine of her level. ML knew about it and got angry, he reprimanded the servant and punished him. FL felt awkward and aggrieved, she thought ML didn't want to give her those things. When ML knew about her thoughts, he literally gave her all of his warehouse. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

So, this novel is basically a light-hearted story about an ordinary girl and a majestic emperor. You should read it if you need some stories to refresh your mind and make you laugh. <<less

Had high expectations for this one because the summary was interesting. However author doesn’t know how to incorporate the mind reading abilities well and the harem drama is quite boring so far. By C12, the oriFL is already imprisoned.

FL and ML also has poor chemistry so far.

Very little comedy in a story like this which is sad.

... more>> Might read again once there’s more translations. Translations is 11/10. MTL is readable but due to how boring the story is I’m dropping for now.

I think “My Beloved Concubine Only Wants to Eat Melons” is a funnier and better written story with the same premise. <<less

author looks unsure what to do with the harem? I wasn't satisfied with their resolve. To start of MC is aware that in the novel ML never abolish harem and it seems that author focus on making that the girls would be MC's friends. Which is still a bit of sad but okay.

To further this issue, author introduced a new character who was entered into the harem for political reason. MC is obviously sad, but I feel like author miss the opportunity for MC to realize that this would be how her life is? For a modern person, she digest this information easily, easily getting fooled by "you will be different from them".

Anyway, didn't like how that was handle.

Speaking of this new character, maybe it was author's way to make readers assure she would not do anything silly but they pair her with MC's adopted brother??? What kind of netorare kink sh*t is this.

I used to avoid this one because of the cover, but it's actually really good. MC is my favorite kind of MC- a little silly, but with a good heart. ML is more boring, I mostly just like him when he's with MC.

It's a little fast, and author tends to drop plot threads and move on to the next one quickly, but ngl I got so caught up with the pace that I didn't notice most of the time. The good side of that is that there's not enough time... more>> for me to get bored. By the end I felt satisfied, but after a while I realized so much plot was left unresolved, it's like the story ended midway.

I MTLed but I'm waiting for the TLer before I read the extras, I might think of more to add to my review by then. <<less

Actually, the earlier chapters of this novel seemed promising but suddenly, it went downhill because the author seemed to forget about the original premise of this story.

I don't say that the overall story was bad, it's just... the description and title felt a bit misleading.

The schemes in the harem were actually only a small part of the story so if you expect some comedies where ML defeated other concubines for MC, then you would be disappointed.

The story was more about the emperor and his efforts to fight the conspiracies from and within the country. And MC felt more like a decoration in this story.

And there were also some loopholes that were left unexplained till the end.

    • What happened to the orgFL? After she was arrested, she went MIA from the story and the author also didn't mention about her ending. Also, why did her and ML's memories were different from each other? OrgFL remembered that she met ML when she's young and fell in love with him ever since but ML didn't have that memory and was even indifferent to her.
    • Why didn't no one think that MC was someone else when she clearly changed greatly from the past (including her own personal maid) ? She didn't even remember some of the past events but no one was suspicious till the end? Wasn't the ancient time supposed be superstitious?
    • If MC was the real Gu Lingyun, where did the previous Gu Lingyun go? And why MC was thrown into a modern world in the first place?
    • Every schemes in this novel were often explained only vaguely. Sometimes, the author only mentioned that this person schemed against ML but no details explained how that person's scheme worked. And ML always seemed to know when someone schemed against him but also, there's no explanation about how did he come to know about that. I especially felt like that in the ending since it was so rushed.

For what it's worth, 2 stars.

Unlike what the description describes MC, she's is in fact not an ambitious person nor a thrill seeker. She is truly a salted fish - but the description made it seem like MC is a person who likes to outsmart her opponents (she is in fact, not very smart or clever).

She is those type of transmigrated heroines who insisted (or stick with the mindset) the ML be with the OgFL despite clear signs everywhere.

Also, the plot of this novel feels like it's being forced with... more>> the cannon fodders trying to plot against MC - nothing to do with overthrowing the dynasty or world plot.

The "romance" feels weird as well - kinda bland. Perhaps because the readers are stuck to MC's POV.

Initially, I was excited - thinking it would be enjoyable that MC's thoughts could be heard by ML and being from a different time-line with obviously different set of society norms but *there's nothing*. <<less

It’s not bad, just boring. Based on the summary and the tags, I was expecting the novel to take the comedic approach but it’s like the author isn’t good at writing. Right as things look like they’re going to be funny, the situation gets resolved in a very unfufilling manner.

Also, I’m not sure what the role of the ogFL is. There’s some serious foreshadowing in the first few chapters that she’s aware of the original trajectory and will probably cause problems for MC only for her to be thrown into jail?? And at chapter 40 even FL has forgotten about her which doesn’t fit her character as someone who’s convinced ML is in love with ogFL.

Hard to say how it will turn but for now quite entertaining. I was hooked with description but for now emperor wasn't properly introduced. Basically story start from harem selection and Gu Lingyun making it straight to noble consort with her golden finger having praises at every turn... And no it's not some system or unique knowledge from her original world. It's Emperor who just plainly opened for her back door because her father is general, lol. Aiya, nothing changes under moon, but well kudos to her for being calm... more>> and even humorous as she understands that she had no choice but be part of harem no matter what. But well she had year to at least morally prepare herself, as she transmigrated year ago. For now I'm very interested in this story so waiting for chapters. Looks promising. <<less

Very cute, fluffy story, but don't come here for anything complex. It is pretty much what it says on the tin: MC gets to kick her feet up and sip lemonade in the shade while watching her husband flex and solve her problems for her. Which like, good for her! But also, after the first few times, she's not even watching and thinking "Take Your Shirt Off" at him really hard, and is just in her rooms waiting for him to take care of work and come home so they... more>> can hang out.

I did really like their chemistry, it's very well written, 10/10 Cute Couple That Teases Each Other.

However, because it's so short, the characters' relationships with anyone besides each other fall kind of... flat. There are perks into them, which are nice, and the ML's past is suitably Horrifically Tragic, but... it doesn't really make up for all the missed plotportunities. There are SO many interesting side characters who just don't get developed, and don't get me started on the dropped plot point (s.)

WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS ORIGINAL PROTAGONIST AND WHY IS THE STORY DIFFERENT?!?!?!? It's never explained and it is driving me Kind Of Bonkers!!! Just- they killed her offscreen, I get that, but Oh My God?!? I feel bad for her.

Anyway, I'd give it a 3 1/2 rating. (Or a 3, but I can't revote...) Not Horrible, but not something I'd really recommend unless you're looking for a "no thoughts, only flirting and Good Vibes" kind of story. <<less

its a nice concept but I don't like the execution the rules of the mind reading is incredibly vague even when she is right next to him he only hears her thoughts sometimes and conveniently hears nothing about the world being a novel and that she isn't the original owner of the body and overall it seems like he can only hear her thoughts when the author feels it would help the plot go in the direction they want also the ML is just kind of a as*hole when he... more>> is right next to her which means he should be able to read her mind he should be able to tell that she clearly doesn't want to do something yet he still pushes her to do it so either his mind reading is so f*cking shitty he can only hear her thoughts once every blue moon or he is a as*hole who directly ignores her opinions just to have things go the way he wants if I were the FL I would have probably punched him by now consequences be dammed <<less

Entertaining and fun. Not too heavy to enjoy casually, but still with enough drama to get you going. There is some weirdness in the pacing a bit, and this story does suffer from a bit of 'will they? Won't they?' that romantic comedy stories often have, but overall this is an enjoyable read. If you go into this worrying if there will be a lot of harem intrigue, there isn't, just as it says right in the title.

How should I start this? It's a bit boring without the palace intrigues and it's not thrilling without revenges and etc. I complain all the time in the past that it's easy to guess what would happen next but the ML wouldn't take action that's why it leads to conflicts and misunderstanding now that that 'action' is being done is every nooks and turns, I wish for a blood boiling plot and twists. It was average, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting premise. But it has also been done before.

Gu Lingyun transmigrates in the ancient times and end up being the newly selected Noble Concubine of the Emperor. This female lead is honestly a bit dumb and naive. There were barely any emotional entanglement.

Gu Lingyun thinks that she transmigrated into a novel as the vicious cannon fodder. But this plot point also gets abondoned later. She very conveniently forgot details about the novel and has no scruples with getting together with... more>> the male lead.

Xiao Yuheng is the current emperor who initially wanted to use her as she was notoriously dumb and easily provoked. He is cunning, scheming and the typical cold male lead. But he has the ability to listen to other people's innermost thoughts. When he listens to his new concubine's inner monologue, he gets interested and of course, the rest is history.

To be honest, the romance is very lackluster and juvenile. The obstacles were solved too easily. The female lead seemed like a prop sometimes while the male lead seemed uncaring for half the novel.

It was very short so I pulled through. Wouldn't really recommend though. <<less

First of all, this is a very easy reading, suits you if you want to read something that's very light, carefree and just like the tag, comedy. I thought it's gonna be disappointing looking at the rating but actually it's quite enjoyable— but of course, if you want something with heavy plot, complicated and very smart scheming, I wouldn't recommend you this.

But like I said, in the tags itself, it says comedic, s*upid-lazy-carefree protagonist which are ttrue.

For me, this suits you when you are too tired after reading heavy plot,... more>> and want something very light, with so many fluff moments between MC and ML to warm your heart or just when you need to read something that is easy to digest, without the need to think too much, for daily reading after you are too tired handling life.

But well, at the end of the day, everyone has their own type so feel free to try to read this as I really recommend it. <<less

She's transmigrated over a year before we start reading, but never thought to learn about the place or herself??

And her closest personal servant just buys her excuse that being drafted into the harem was so shocking that she lost her memory and completely changed personalities???

Like, she never had a brush with death by illness or injury, and never fell into a coma, but just lost her memory one morning when she was otherwise perfectly fine? (Btw the "memory loss" happens after she joins the harem, so ONE YEAR AFTER SHE'S ALREADY TRANSMIGRATED)
