The Entire Sect is Obsessed with Love, But I’m the Only One Who’s Truly Crazy

Relationship blogger Lin Du dies of a heart attack, enraged by someone with a ‘love brain.’

After her death, she transmigrates into a cultivation novel filled with sadomasochistic cultivation novel and tragic love, becoming a beautiful and strong yet tragically fated junior sister aunt whose destiny is to sacrifice herself, using her ashes to pave the way for the protagonist’s great love story.

After reading the script, she slowly types out a question mark, “Have all the wild vegetables on this mountain been dug up?”

The system gently advises her: “See those ‘love-brained’ people in your sect? Save them, and you can live.”

Lin Du: “One is willing to hit, the other willing to take it—respect the mockery, lock it in.”

System: “Sweetie, you only have one day left to live.”

Lin Du: “Right up my alley, satisfaction guaranteed.”

Thus, Lin Du accepts her fate and sets out to save the senior brother who was deceived into having his spiritual bone removed and ended up crippled, the second senior sister who was cut open by her Taoist partner to extract blood for the white moonlight while she was pregnant, and the junior sister who was used by the Demon Lord to steal the sect’s treasure and then abandoned, leading her to fall into demonic ways…

But why does this sect have such a strange vibe? The sect leader personally cooks a big goose in an iron pot, and the real immortals are either growing vegetables or digging for treasures…

Lin Du: “Not sure, let’s observe a bit more.”

She initially thought that those who were lost were beyond saving, but after getting to know them, she realized: Her nephews and nieces are so adorable—it’s all the fault of those evil cultivators!

As the story progresses to a crucial point, the entire sect ends up being assimilated by Lin Du.

Senior Brother: “Can’t ascend due to lack of a spiritual bone? If you can’t ascend, you can still go to hell!”

Second Senior Sister: “Dual cultivation? A child? I have a pregnancy pill; you can bear it yourself.”

Junior Sister: “The Demon Lord, the most handsome man in the world? That guy? Not even as good-looking as one of Lin Du’s fingers!”

Warnings: The entire story focuses on the female protagonist’s growth, with minor group scenes. There is a romantic subplot, but it has minimal screen time.

Lin Du, our MC, is a once-in-a-thousand-years genius, unmatched in both talent and sickliness. Coupled with a tragic backstory along with a pair of incomplete lungs, a shattered glass heart, and one year left to live, she's really favored and despised by the heavens. Of course, she knows she'll survive if she completes the system's tasks, but the people that care about her don't. As a result, she's usually regarded with pity/sorrow (or disdain, for antagonists), while she doesn't give a second thought about it. She's the kind of person... more>> that you wouldn't know whether to envy or for feel bad for in real life.

As for her personality, it's pretty fitting that her spiritual root thing is a pure ice-type. I have to say that her personality in the summary is a bit misleading; it makes her seem a bit more... cheerful? than she really is. She's not necessarily cold, but there's always a sense of distance between her and the rest of the world, even when she's smiling with her fellow disciples. She's pretty close with everyone in the sect, and they all like her too. I enjoy her dynamic with her Master, who's also an ice type; they have a playful dynamic where she's not polite with him at all and he pretends to be a cruel mentor that enjoys making things harder for her, all while caring for each other deeply (which they'll never admit, being the people that they are).

Other than that, though, the translation could use some work. Mainly the pronouns are extremely inconsistent. Because the MC looks androgynous, other characters refer to her as a male, but it's clear she's a girl. However, this isn't really the case for other characters. Sometimes they're introduced as a male, but in later chapters or even in following paragraphs, he turns into a she. I think I've mostly figured out everyone's genders by now, but when characters are first introduced, it's quite difficult to tell. The translation can also be confusing in that some sentences don't really match up with the one before it. I'll be reading a paragraph just fine and then the next line will have me wondering if I've skipped something. It's a problem that's not helped by the whole pronouns issue, either.

All in all, still readable, if a bit disjointed. Definitely worth the effort. Good story, amazing MC, cute and lovable sect members. 5/5 for me. <<less

A profound novel, and I say that as someone who MTL'd this and it was a struggle! But, overall easy to read still.

The synopsis is truly misleading so if you'll jump into this novel thinking it's gonna be entertaining and funny, boy oh boy, do I have news for you! It has comedic undertones, not gonna lie, but most important of all, what it has is a complete plot. A story woven with depth and wisdom, multidimensional characters, and a lesson on self-sufficiency.

Also, don't expect much on the romance part... more>> because it is almost non-existent, hinted, yes, but with the atmosphere of the novel you will find that it was best executed that way. <<less

this story is very good. No face slapping, no sect disciples being jealous, envious, or spiteful. There are no events that require 2-3 chapters just to explain everyone's monologues. Everyone in the sect is very kind and pleasant. The romance is very thin, almost non-existent and only at the end. Villains also have brains.

we usually read novels where MC thinks that sacrificing himself to save the whole world is not justified, but MC in this novel has a different side, he will sacrifice himself to save the world if necessary.... more>> Don't get me wrong, MC is not the holy mother mary, uh it's hard to explain. Not only MC, but also the people around MC have the same thoughts. They are not s*upid and naive, they have justified reasons.

i read with mtl, very scary but still understandable, hopefully the translator will finish the whole story <<less

First of all it's not a romance or a tragedy so I don't know who put those tags in but I definitely took them out. I gave a review on I guess a duplicate entry of this novel. And it was really extensive. But basically this is a masterpiece. It's not a romance at all. Unfortunately. There may be undertones near the very very end but if you ship anyone with her it's not going to happen. There may be a romance subplot (because of the other disciples But it... more>> isn't even emphasized that much once it happens so... I'm even reluctant to add that tag) but that's a different tag. Basically she is OP but that's because she works really hard for it and OP is only great when your enemies are more difficult. And they are definitely more difficult. She has really hard struggles and this is a very unique take in my opinion to the dao. It's so sad I had a really long review that got deleted just because the duplicate entry got deleted.

It's a very wholesome novel and very long but in a good way. It's definitely about family like found family and overcoming struggles. But struggles that feel better because you have the people around you to help you. She definitely learns to lean on people and you see that things have like a deeper plot. It is a masterpiece I don't remember my review anymore but I did love this novel and this is like top 10 of the best like Chinese novels I've read.

Also this website is always MTL so like I don't know why it gets used here. Shanghai fantasy is just MTL and I would really just recommend you to not read it there but since you don't have a choice unfortunately... I would recommend some good translator picked this up if they really like cultivation novels with bad ass characters and a great family kind of feeling.

Spoiler

ultimately is fluffy because everything works out because she's really smart. Like she's really smart. Like not a joke. It's actually kind of a crazy. I'm not even sure how it all worked out It's definitely like plot armor a little bit but kind of she deserves it. She definitely deserves the plot armor. She like calculated everything. To a degree where I think you can feel her headache from afar. You definitely feel how hard she was thinking. So there is no tragedy because like simply no tragedy like I don't know why that tag was even there lol. did they even read the book?

I'm kind of mad because I swear the entry before this entry was the original entries I don't know why the first one got deleted. Kind of mad about that. Because my review is so long. And I'm pretty sure it was the first review too. I can't even remember everything I said but regardless like I have to say I really felt badly for the author near the end because they were going through stuff like... Honestly it's so sad and kind of funny because like there would be a chapter where they would say they pet a cat and then they had to go to the hospital and get a rabies shot It was kind of funny and sad. But they were still worried about like putting out chapters on time and I was like oh my God...

And there is this other time where they went to the dentist and then ended up going to the hospital and they thought maybe they would get a fever and then the next chapter in the author notes They actually ended up staying in the hospital because they did get that fever and they're still worried about releasing chapters....

I think a better translator is deserved because you know they also had good author notes and sometimes they would reference where they got their ideas from for certain cultivation ideas or techniques or philosophies. I think the end author note is actually the best part of this novel as well because I remember now I wrote in my review that this book is not misogynistic at all like no internalized misogyny at all. And the end author note especially states almost that the author was intentionally trying to not be misogynistic. And fight her internalized misogyny to write this book and write so many different types of women / It's also the reason why the main character gets referred as uncle because she is explicitly believed in bending the ideas / roles of gender, especially in the tao / dao world. Also, this is actually a really philosophical and hilarious book. I just remembered that. <<less

This novel has a wily, smart, strong female protagonist that I enjoy. Her goal is to save her love-stricken sect members via teaching them about life. It's also a cultivation novel as she gets stronger and stronger.

Only reason I ding it slightly is that it's kind of... dense reading? Although it's not exactly repetitive plots (there is a bunch of "sickly beauty" repetition on public introduction, rho), it feels like it drags a bit. I am already halfway in and I want it to get to the point, because I came by to see the plots in the summary!

I do like that the villains aren't one-dimensional. The first love antagonist was a basic s*um male. The next antagonists have reasoning, though they're still scummy. It's not thoroughly black and white.

Edit,... more>> now that I'm done with the novel: Oh my goodness, I'm so glad I pressed on with the novel. It was a bit tedious every so often, but I ended up really engaged. Lin Du is an excellent, too-smart protagonist that carefully plans each step.

Other reviewers are right, there is not really a romance for her, or at least it's really subtle and not even really said. The other side romances are at least explicitly said and shown, but Lin Du doesn't really have that. It's best to say this is a low romance, female protagonist driven story that focuses on resolving the plots.

For those curious, like I was regarding the not-quite-romance... It only even seems like it *could develop* that way at the last couple of chapters. He doesn't really even show up for very long to develop anything in the initial... 400 chapters, lol.

Spoiler

Wenzhi is the closest ML there is for her, but again, it's subtle. They're more companions for life. They eventually share a lifespan. That said, I'm reading this late at night and had started to rush the end so I could miss a few plot points due to skipping text.
