According to imperial law, any imperial resident who remains unmarried by the age of 150 will be assigned a partner through genetic matching.

Imperial Marshal Xamos, an SSS-ranked military female and the Zerg God of War, was matched with Mu Qing, a mere C-ranked live-streamer, creating the most mismatched pairing in history.

The public believed this match spelled disaster for the Marshal.

Some zergs lamented, some raged, and others flooded the interstellar network with insults directed at Mu Qing.

Mu Qing responded openly:

“Heh, insult me once, and I’ll sleep with the Marshal once.”

The haters exploded and grabbed their keyboards, determined to make Mu Qing regret ever being born.

That night, Mu Qing returned home to find the revered Marshal sitting on his bed, staring deeply into his eyes. The Marshal said in a low voice:

“As of one minute ago, there were approximately 961,200 negative comments about you on the star network.

“I am busy with military duties and can only accompany you three times a day. At this rate, it will take you 900 years to sleep with me for each insult.

“Time is tight. Please begin.”

The Haters’ Daily Life Updates:

—Did the Marshal and that C-ranked guy break up yet?

—Almost. Any day now.

Later, the new Emperor ascended the throne.

The handsome and noble young Zerg Emperor stood on the high platform, with the Marshal—now dressed in a Zerg Queen’s ceremonial gown—standing protectively by his side.

The entire Zerg race was enamored with their new Emperor.

The Mu Qing’s haters, while professing their love for the Emperor, spread the news:

“Let’s celebrate! The Marshal and that C-ranked guy finally broke up!”

Marshal: We didn’t break up.

The entire Zerg race: ???

Wait, wasn’t the new Emperor’s name… Mu Qing? And wasn’t his rank the ultra-rare SSR?

Even more jaw-dropping was the revelation that their beloved Emperor was also the mysterious director and film emperor, the male commander who single-handedly crushed the Tianjia Army, and the genius game creator who revolutionized an era… all identities belonging to Mu Qing.

The black fans QAQ: Can we still kneel and call you Your Majesty/Male Lord/Idol in time?

Mu Qing (gong) & Xamos (shou)

I feel like certain parts of this weren't completely followed through... or simply fell flat, and a bit silly, rather than romantic. The ending also feels rather rushed with a somewhat simplistic worldview of everything coming into place... I guess partially because the MC is OP?

The age gap between the MC and ML even with Zerg having a long life span really gets in the ick territory... ... more>>
Spoiler

which isn't helped by the author having the characters describe a what-if scenario whereupon *if* the ML was more successful earlier, then the MC's father could have survived & brought back the MC'S egg... And the ML could have watched the MC break out of the shell, learn to walk, and just grow up... and then whiplash the MC talks about his secret kinks. I'm trying so hard to ignore the 100 year age gap, and this & the MC calling the ML "Uncle" all the time does not help. I honestly would rather ship the ML with the MC'S father in the what if scenario... and was rather hoping the MC *was* his father, but like reverted to an egg as a self-defense mechanism or form of evolution, but sadly that wasn't the case. I really don't think the author needed to have such an extreme age gap... it could have easily been reworked to 20 years without any real difference to the story.

[collapse]

Albeit I started following it via the official translation, and then switched to MTL after chapter 50/51.

I probably would have given this a 7/10, and rounded down due to the above.... but I did finish it fairly quickly & MTL... and more importantly, the ML besides the age issue is a green flag in terms of consent, letting the MC do what he wants, and giving MC freedom, unlike other possessive ML in the genre.

Spoiler

At least the ML isn't g*ooming the MC. The ML sort of just lets the MC do what he wants... partially because the MC has the ability to just leave whenever he wants & has already done this. And if the ML did do anything, he'd lose his chance with the MC. Like part of the MC'S shtick is because he is so OP, he doesn't need anybody to do him favors, and the entire Universe will just bend itself to his will eventually, because he is so OP.

[collapse]

So I *guess* I will round up, and rate it 4 stars for now... I really agree with the other reviewer that said it had alot of potential... I think it suffers from certain things not being fleshed out more & switching over to other subplots, while past stuff isn't so important anymore.

EDIT on finishing to the End:

Spoiler

The last 2 chapters rather than building up more details/ resolution for a solid ending, instead jump to fleshing out the alternate what if scenario. Because apparently crowning new Royalty means all issues are gone now? So the author just drops it. But for the whatif scenario, on the plus side, they don't have as huge of an age gap, since the ML is in his 40s? But the MC hatches into his hands, wants to kiss him at age 3, and is motivated on becoming the ML's partner at a very young age. And other characters be like, oh, you see yourself as the 3 year old's father? And ML is like I am not sure if that is it? And MC wants to learn all the languages to tell ML he loves him romantically around that age... and the reader/ ML follow MC'S growth here. But to the ML's credit, he does (briefly) volunteer to get another Zerg for the MC'S s*xual evolution into becoming an adult.... but no, the MC'S life goal is the ML only here. I guess the other male zergs solved inequality & the enemy country offscreen, so the MC can be wholly devoted to the ML in this scenario??? Wait, no, I think that hasn't been resolved yet... since the what if scenario is all MC'S growth to ML before becoming an adult. And the ML thinks, oh, if only he discovered MC loved him sooner?? Then ML would actually be having s*x with a minor, before Said minor had their evolution to becoming an adult via s*x....

[collapse]

It's somehow worse. Sort of hoping that MTL messed up the ages here... and/or the 3rd party site was missing something?

Spoiler

I'm guessing that the MC is still a Transmigrator? Not sure at what age, but it would make more sense in terms of his, um, desires for romance like some love at first site werewolf mate genre vibes... when in the original timeline he is so much more sharp & wary of romance... it feels like some strange rebirth of the current MC into that life, which wouldn't make sense either? Hopefully, the official translation is more clear... but this isn't really a series I have a strong desire to re-read.

I finished reading this novel a few weeks ago, so my review might come off shorter because I don't trust my goldfish of a memory _ (:3」∠) _

First off, I know you'll like it, because it actually kept me up for days. It's very exciting! Mu Qing is such an amazing character! He's all for a change and I love that for him!

Marshal Xamos is just—😩 he's such a green flag. A whole forest. Like if your man can't support you like Xamos does, girl, raise your standards to the... more>> universe. Lol. But seriously, he's so sweet to Mu Qing.

They love each other so much gaahh. The tension of their hidden identities added to the story's excitement! And! There's a plot twist at the end!

Very well-written! This story made me crave for more satisfactory zerg novels! ❤️💯 <<less

I fancy the story especially our ML since the story shows how green he is but too bad the story was not properly laid out and MC was too OP without explanation.

Feels like the potential wasn't fulfilled. If only the author executed the plot bit by bit then this would be wonderful. I still enjoyed it though.
