- ★★★★✩ PLOT - The premise is nothing new. An ordinary guy from Earth got transmigrated into a powerless prince with a body weaker than a 10 year old and found ways to survive by collecting treasures & gaining allies yada yada you know the drill. At first, I contemplated whether to continue reading or not cause it was following the same trajectory most novels with similar premise had done so it was predictable, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because when the MC and his party arrived at the abode of the Sage of Winterwood, the story became more interesting and I got engrossed in the lores. Their adventures also became more interesting.
- ★★✩✩✩ NARRATION - There was a lot of telling rather than showing. There was quite a lot of infodumping too. The conversations between characters sometimes felt like lectures/discussions presenting a thesis instead of actual conversations between people. It was too obvious that the author was explaining stuff to the readers instead of letting the readers observe and learn the world through the characters' perspectives. Tho, at least, there were occasional POV shifts so I got to view the happenings from different characters.
- ★★★✩✩ PACING - It's fast. To be fair, if I were the MC who got transmigrated into a weak body and needed to survive in a dangerous world, I would also do the same thing as him — get all the treasures I could find ASAP to ensure my safety and bring strong, reliable allies under my wing. But in just more or less 20 chapters only, the MC has already stolen all the treasures he can steal from the royal palace, formed connections with allies, and dealt a huge blow to the queen. Some minor supporting characters' background stories were narrated in like 1-2 chapters as well or was it less? I couldn't remember much. From a reader's perspective, this kind of pacing is too fast, which makes the characters less fleshed-out and the interpersonal relationships between characters shallow. It disrupts the immersiveness cause everything's happening on 2x speed. BUT this was only at the initial chapters and thankfully, the pacing slowed down a bit and became normal after MC & co. Left the royal place.
- ★★★★✩ CHARACTERS
- Yuan (MC) - He's very smart, cunning, sly, bold, a schemer, and a bully lol. He loves teasing straightlaced/honest people and corrupting them hahaha. He has a Master's Degree in the Art of Manipulation and Scamming. He's also a strategist and makes several backup plans. I'm curious about his impeccable memory tho. I wonder if he has some kind of innate talent in memory before he transmigrated cause how the heck was he able to remember every little detail he read from a book? He was even able to draw a detailed map and magic circles from the book. Aside from that, I like that his ability of spirit magic is sometimes implemented more uniquely. I think this is the first time I've read about spirits being used for disguises, invincibility, space manipulation, and even as a live video projector lol
- Supporting Characters - They're fleshed out and have their own unique personalities and quirks. They're all memorable to me, even the minor supporting characters. They're given enough screentime about their inner thoughts, experiences, background stories, battles, and character development. Although it's a pity that Yard's character as an assassin wasn't used much (except during the coup d'état). Because of that, he's a character who felt more like a semi-skilled wizard with magical threads as his main weapon and with good disguising skills rather than a proper assassin.
- Villains - They're strong and use their brains too, which makes the battles more thrilling.
- ★★★★✩ BATTLES - They're quite good. Some battles were interesting and some were exciting. They're easy to imagine as well. Strategies were incorporated in battles so that's a plus. I love how the team battles and the coordination among the party members were executed.
