Jiang Shu, as the young miss of the Jiang family, had lived smoothly and without worries for over a decade until one summer day when Mother Jiang guiltily called her into the study.

“It’s like this, actually, you were adopted by us. Our biological son was lost for twelve years and has finally been found.”

Jiang Shu initially wanted to coexist peacefully with the True Young Master, but as soon as they met, she heard a voice in his head: “The Face-Slapping System has been activated. Quickly slap the face of the villain Jiang Shu to earn system points!”

Jiang Shu reluctantly thought, “Alright, let’s play along and be the villain.”

She pretended to fall weakly in front of the True Young Master, accusing passionately, “Mom! It was brother who pushed me!”

I’m being so obvious, hurry and expose me!

The True Young Master picked her up horizontally and asked, “Where does it hurt? It’s my fault for not holding you.”

Jiang Shu bossily ordered in front of the True Young Master, “Get me some water! Get me an orange! Peel it for me!”

Refuse me quickly! Tell me you’re the real one!

The True Young Master peeled the orange for her, removed the pith, and fed it to her piece by piece.

Jiang Shu: Are you not right in the head? Pull yourself together, True Young Master!

With no other options, she decided to take it up a notch and brazenly declared, “I won’t allow you to be added to the Jiang family’s household register!”

Unexpectedly, the True Young Master squatted down in front of her and asked, “Then what about being added to yours?”

◆ Not really interested in being a son, how about being a son-in-law ◆

◆ So annoying, why does she keep seducing me every day, knowing I can’t resist ◆

Found it strange that someone put it on their 'distasteful' list.

This series has a clear target audience - those who have read and enjoy real/fake siblings - and those who aren't familiar with that type of story or don't like stories focused on the entertainment industry won't enjoy it as much.

The synopsis does a good job of explaining the setup so there's no need to elaborate on the plotline here. It should be mentioned that a variety show takes up a good chunk of the setting throughout the story, though.

So,... more>> what's good about this story? We've got a female protagonist who comes off as being a bit dim (but she's cute), a smart and competent male lead, and a system that's dumber than a box of rocks, ripe for exploitation.

The story is mostly setup as a mix of romance and comedy, leaning more into slice of life with minimal drama. This makes it mostly a heartwarming story packed with dog food and a slowly building romance.

It's a story that's closer to 4 stars for the average reader, but 5 stars for those who like the specific real/fake siblings and the variety show aspects. A mild homecooked meal of a story.

The only thing is that the story ends a bit quickly, to the point where at chapter 65 I thought that it might only be halfway complete.

The extra stories seem like they address some of the missing elements, but the translator only has access to the first extra and not the last 3. I couldn't find those extra chapters either (other than from the official source). <<less

Honestly felt like this story could've been better but was not written well enough.

FL is the adopted daughter of the rich Jiang family, and they only told her the truth after they found their real son after many years. The real son was somehow missing and adopted to a successful cellist lady whom he really cares for.

When FL encountered the real son (who is the ML!), she could hear the System in the ML's mind. The System called her a villainess and it's a Face Slapping System (which doesn't mean... more>> a physical faceslap, more like retaliation). FL initially wanted to live well and harmoniously with the ML but after hearing the System, she decided not to. WHY?

FL heard that the System will provide everything to the ML, and she just agrees with the System out of guilt???? She thinks that if she compensates the ML this way, it'll be a form of compensation towards the ML. The ML doesn't even want to follow the System's words/instructions and he doesn't get penalized for it.

Midway through, around Chapter 25, the plot became more solid when ML finds out his mother has cancer and that the System can cure her if ML has enough points. When the FL finally reveals that she can hear the System and they plot together to save the mother, that's when the story finally gets a more "stable" reason.

I continued reading despite the poor premise because it's a lighthearted novel just to pass the time and the romance is quite interesting. The ML is quite blackbellied and FL is naive. He dotes on her too and if you like that kind of sweet romance, then you may enjoy this novel. Just ignore the System and you'll have a cute romance. I felt like the System didn't play a proper role in the story and the main story ended in a cliffhanger. We don't see the mother being cured and we don't see justice being served. Did not get to read the extras too. <<less
