There's a review that blames ml's mom and said that she's weak and selfish. I don't think they really understand the situation.

Qi Yaoming is really... a sigh of a character. He was never a villain. As humiliating as it is, he's a pitiful child. He grew up in a cold and crazy family, so that he turned out the way he is, well, it is honestly not all his fault.

But he made a mistake and he's an adult. It's just fair for him to get the consequences of his actions. It's never about him being a villain because he isn't. As a reader, I do saw him as a bit annoying because he kept seducing MC despite mc's clear rejection but I don't hate him as much as qi bojun or his grandma.

I know that his situation is really dire so I get why he'd get anxious and do all this s*upid shit, I do get why he resent his mother for never protecting him or do anything for him despite her bringing him into this world. I'm saying, he's justified for feeling like this.

But for an outsider to condemn the mother for this, I think that's out of line.

As a reader, you're sitting in god's perpesctive. You know the situation more than qi yaoming, you know why she is that way, how her mental state is, the events leading into it. And for a woman to condemn another women despite this unfortunate situation is just unthinkable.

She is suffering from a depression from being separated from both the love of her life AND her child that she tried hard to keep and give birth after a long arduous 9 months of constant running and hiding. Do you know how hard that is? To lose a child?

Do you know how hard it is to suffer from postpartum depression, losing your child, and then r*ped and imprisoned, ALL OF THAT IN THAT f*ckING ORDER??

Adding to that, she then had 3 motherf*cking miscarriage. Let's say, okay then, she doesn't want them ANYWAYS. BUT, you have to know that despite you want the baby or not, the feeling of miscarriage is never a good feeling. It affects your physics and mental so much that it's ruining your life. She's literally on the mids of becoming f*cking crazy for real.

Is she right for saying that she hoped she would have miscarriage while pregnant with qi yaoming? No, it's the worst thing she could've said to a child and she's wrong for that.

But you also have to see it from her perspective. She is not in her right mind because at that time she's on the verge of escaping from lifetime imprisonment and torture of qi bojun while also feeling threatened by yaoming's attitude towards ML which is the child of her beloved. To add to that, yaoming is also the child of her rapist who in her perception never tried to understand or defend her and we even have seen multiple scenes where yaoming screamed and throw things at her.

Yes, she is wrong for saying that, but also, she has every right to get the f*ck out of that house and cut off both bojun and yaoming even tho yaoming technically is not in the wrong for being a child.

A child born from r*pe is always a topic for debate. No child deserved to lack the love of their mother, but you also have to understand the woman's perspective that it's really something that couldn't be forced to. The effect of r*pe on your mental is so heavy that it's unfortunate that the child created from it sometimes do not give you joy but instead created fear and reminder of the incident instead.

Can she raise yaoming by her own instead of letting the child be ruined by the crazy family? Obviously, if your reading comprehension is so f*cking bad then I feel bad for you, but it's clear to see that (1) she's so f*cking depressed after multiple r*pe and torture, so much that she don't even have the mental capability to function daily, (2) she doesn't have much control in the house at the point that she can't even go outside freely.

Let's say she's sober at least once every week, the child still spent most of his time mingling with the crazy family, listening to their misconceptions so much that I think by that point it's already useless for her to coax yaoming because compared to other family members, yaoming can decide for himself that she doesn't have credibility and can't protect him. Children in these kinds of family grew up quickly and whether you like it or not they tend to be very calculative since young and that's not entirely a bad thing because they need that to survive.

At this point, it's just not the right time for them to reconcile. Right now, both don't have the mental capability or the situation to slow down and think it through so to force it would just make it worse.

I just want to say, the mom's response and coping mechanism is normal. Not every woman is strong enough like those in stories that they could endure the entire f*cking world raining down on them. The fact that she made it through without going fully crazy is the proof that she's not as weak as you made her out to be.

Xie Zhongxing was sold to Uncle Ni. Remember that contract that was religiously detailed and legally binding? No one saved him in that life. He then undergone training as a conman but while he had not participated in the actual operations, he became the organization's planning strategist.

He met Qin Xiangqian in one of his projects, the latter really liked him due to his help concerning Qin Xiangqian's hair loss. He complained a lot about his son, Qin Zhongye, who he said was the cause of his balding head. He mused that Xie Zhongxing should marry his son. The next day, the latter investigated Xie Zhongxing's background and discovered the rather pitiful experiences that Xie Zhongxing's younger years hid. Qin Xiangqian felt that it was a shame that the potential of Xie Zhongxing has been obstructed by his greedy relatives and poor financial situation so he offered him a deal: If he agreed to marry his son, Qin Xiangqian would train him then hand over his Qin Empire to him as well as rid Xie Zhongxing, what is shackling him to the dark (the illegal operations). I think he would remove these men either way but as a businessman and stranger, Xie Zhongxing wouldn't have known this.

While he was apprehensive and doubtful the other would really do it, he agreed. Our main character's father moves real fast. He had those men apprehended and proceeded to introduce Qin Zhongye to Xie Zhongxing.

Enter Qin Zhongye, our endearingly foolish and, oh god, very sweet fellow. Xie Zhongxing was still questioning his place and the realness of the offer (he thought that at best, he would become sort of a plaything or mistress to Qin Zhongye— not an actual legal spouse with power) but then he was charmed by our foolish gong.

A real rollercoaster ride was their engagement, straight to marriage and honeymoon. On the first night, Qin Zhongye presented all his cards and passwords to Xie Zhongxing without any need for prompt.

All the relatives and other businessmen mocked Xie Zhongxing but Qin Xiangqian and Qin Zhongye rolled up their sleeves and defended the heck out of Xie Zhongxing.

He was still reeling back from the really surprising situation but then he really found that he loved that place. He was exposed to the sincerity of these two Qins and while he still held insecurity, he thought that he would do his best to hold the place as long as he could.

It was unknown to him at first but the friends of Qin Zhongye would send women to Qin Zhongye and disparage Xie Zhongxing in private. Qin Zhongye was really angry and did not want these friends to meet Xie Zhongxing. He refused the women, argued with these people. He chose Xie Zhongxing over any of them without hesitation.

(> //// <) As clarification for the nightly activities, it's not that Xie Zhongxing was insatiable... he just noticed the desire of Qin Zhongye and he hid his shyness with his outward cold face. He entertained this foolish boy of ours but as expected, he can't compete so he secretly made the aunty brew that herbal soup for him (but Qin Zhongye discovered it and mistook it as that Xie Zhongxing was really disappointed with his prowess and wanted to strengthen it by having Qin Zhongye drink that herbal soup).

Then the extra ended with the continuation of the first chapter, where Li Jun carried Qin Zhongye back to their house.
