**The Former Supreme Saint, Who Lost Everything to Her Sister, Is Cared For by the Crown Prince of Another Continent

As I had been painting in my room, His Highness the Crown Prince had called off our engagement because I had not fulfilled my duties as the Supreme Saint.

I had permission from His Majesty the King to paint, and I had done my job of putting up barriers all over the country, but…

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince did not listen to me and gave the position of Supreme Saint to my half-sister, Mira, and made her his fiancee.

Expelled from the position of Supreme Saint and penniless, I crossed the sea to a neighboring country in search of my childhood friend.

Apparently, my paintings are blessed by gods and spirits, and the country of Hallstein seems to have been developed by the power of my paintings.

What? Did the blessings of the spirits disappear when I was gone? My sister Mira is not able to create barriers throughout the country because of her lack of magical power?

I’m doted on by the crown prince of the neighboring country, so I don’t need to be told such a thing now. I don’t even know that my country is in a critical situation since diplomatic relations with my country have been cut off due to the stormy seas.

4 Stars. It's a very simple and straightforward story, but relatively well executed.

There should be absolutely nothing you don't expect from reading the synopsis of this story. If that isn't enough the first 4 chapters should let you know everything there is to know about the story. I have to say that despite or maybe because of the simplicity and predictability, I found it very enjoyable.

You have rotten people, you have their victim, things take off from there with no ambiguity and then karma plays out.

Bottom Line: A quick read... more>> for when you have had a bad day at the office, or a Karen has crossed your path. <<less

This is probably the worst variation of this trope that I've read yet. Feels like a middle schooler writing their first betrayal story and using a Mary Sue

First of all, I think its interesting when people write these Mary Sue betrayal stories. They need a revenge plot, but simultaneously don't want the main character to actually be emotionally hurt, and also want the antagonists to get karmic retribution without the main character actually needing to do anything malicious. In this case, the main character is getting absolutely tr*shed verbally but... more>> continues to have absolutely no reaction, and its boring as well as a bit silly.

Spoiler

Its this kind of stuff (Not the actual text of the story)

"You are disgusting! I'm removing you as fiance for your sister!"

"Oh ok. Can I still continue to make free barriers for your country though?"

"No you ugly smelly garbage. Get out of here"

"Oh ok"

And she calmly leaves. If she was just stoic I would be fine with it, but it definetely reads more like she is a morally optimal AI with no basic human emotions. Not very emotionally gripping

[collapse]

Second of all, in these kinds of stories we need to endure the betrayal for the revenge payoff, as well as the fluffy romance usually. So what do we see here? Well after 18 chapters we finally get to three chapters of fluff, it's pretty lame. Male lead proposes almost immediately and we're done with them until the epilogue. On the other hand we get 5 chapters of sweet revenge. Its pretty cliche, but I still like me some justice served.

In the final chapter we see everyone get their deserved endings. Oh, and also civilians and knights of her former country getting destroyed by monsters and her husband saying this is what they deserve. I would hope that any functioning adult would realize the even if we don't like a country's leaders, the masses don't deserve to be hurt for it. I'm just gonna hope this is not an adult writing this and move on lol. <<less

Very quick read - the translation is quite good and the story MOVES - if you're into the unappreciated-heroine-who-is-thrown-out-and-is-appreciated-elsewhere-to-live-happily-ever-after then this is a perfect story for you. FL is a bit insipid (she just doesn't have a lot of personalty, which makes sense for someone confined to a room with no companionship for the last 10 years) but the interactions between the ML and his knight are GOLDEN. And let's be honest - who DOESN'T like seeing people get what they deserve after being jerks to someone innocent who turns... more>> out to be WAY more powerful than they expected? <<less

The whole story is an extended version of the synopsis. A happy go lucky story of a very naive and overly kind Cinderella who was ens*aved without knowing it finding her lifetime happiness in another country.

Writing itself has a lot of more room for improvements and it was hard to take ML serious when he laughed 'ufufufu'. Black and white world of bad people being awfully bad and good people being naively and innocently nice.

It was also hard to take the ML's affection for a 7 year old from his... more>> childhood days serious as they only knew each other for a mere month.

Spoiler

Not sure if it's a translation error or a literal phrase from the novel itself, but when the ML found out of MC's home country's demise, he scolded them for not seeing her 'worth'. It's contradictory to the fact that the king knew her worth and thus kept her imprisoned at the royal castle for his own selfish means. It gives off just a weird feeling that MC is being used, again, without realizing it. Instead of being kept humble she was treasured to the extreme is the simple difference.

This story is a cute and straightforward read. Everything you can expect is in the summary. If you just want something short and light to pass the time then this'll work.

Actually, there was nothing new in this story. It's exactly as the title stated: MC was abandoned by her fiance for her own sister and forced to leave the country but then after she left, the country came into ruin while she found her happiness with her childhood friend aka ML in another kingdom.

Although the story was pretty generic, it's still passable to pass the time since it was only 27 chapters and didn't take long to finish it.

I've read novels and mangas with the trope of "saintess is unappreciated, exiled from country, finds happiness, leaves previous country in shambles." So my expectations were low. I was looking for something bland to read before bed. That being said this was SO bland I think it s**ked the life out of me like cotton.

I fully expected MC to have Mary Sue Syndrome and have read so much that I've accepted them. That being said I expected MC to have the personality of a doormat; but oh how wrong I... more>> was. She doesn't have a personality at all. If the ML wasn't constantly chanting her name I might've forgotten it.

Speaking of the ML. He isn't a red flag but he also isn't a green flag. He is the worst of all; a beige flag. He's nice I guess to MC? The whole shy guy thing doesn't exactly work in a short story like this. It feels like he went through speed run character development and became confident in like 1 chapter. One thing that annoyed me is that apparently he had the power to see her original kingdom somehow? He saw all the suffering that everyone, including the innocent, were going through and basically said "meh."

Onto what exactly happened to her previous kingdom. I knew the "antagonists" would be flat as a pancake so I won't discuss that but know it's not good. The "revenge/karma" arc was the only thing that kept me going past the 17 chapter mark but it honestly just upset me more. It's so horrible for so many reasons I could cry. Firstly it's rushed. I know you're probably thinking "well this is a short story so yeah it'd be rushed." But I'm saying it is only discussed in a singular chapter. To summarize it went like this:

King gets back from abroad.

Finds out the clusterf*ck his kid created.

Provides disturbingly vivid depictions of child ab*se. The child in question is his son the prince who, while a jerk, other than saying very rude things and kicking his fiancé out, didn't do anything like hurt her or anything. His only crime in my eyes is being ignorant and arrogant.

The king then freaks out and tries to use her parents as hostages. Once they show up we get a, while less descriptive, just as strange amount of content of the king beating up her father and stepmother. They coughed up blood many times. That's all I remember from that. I think I've blocked it out.

After that we find out all of her magical paintings that blessed the empire vanished and we are told all the effects of each of these paintings. Here is a list of them and their effects. Please note all of these are individually a decently sized paragraph: Without salamander, no fire in kitchen/forge. Without god of knowledge, the scholars become idiots. Without military god knights can't pick up swords. Without spider horse (yeah that's right), horses go crazy. Without fertility god, crops get destroyed. Finally my favorite that takes the cake: apparently she made a leprechaun painting that blessed the shoemakers and they lost the ability to work without hurting their hands. It's literal nonsense that makes you think "uh what?"

One of the paintings was of the god of the sea and we find out the sea is basically unable to be traveled. Despite this the king orders tons of ships with innocent sailors to be sent out to retrieve MC from the continent she left to. (This of course fails killing all of them.)

We also get a little recap of the antagonists fates. The king and prince who are arguably the most sinful of all characters are said to be in debt. Which is literally the equivalent of "ah man yeah I didn't do my taxes so the IRS came by." Her parents are literally never mentioned again after they get beat up so I don't know what that's about.

Finally I'm creating a seperate paragraph for her sister because it's the thing that pissed me off THE MOST in this whole tr*shy story. Her sister by the way is 14. Do you remember being 14? I do. I remember being a bratty CHILD. Her son in this whole ordeal is literally this: seducing her sister's fiancé. Yeah that's literally it. And you know what her fate is? Saints are apparently able to forcibly use power beyond their magical limits by USING THEIR LIFE FORCE. She is forced to use her life force until she becomes a literal grandmother within a single year. A 14 YEAR OLD TO A GRANDMOTHER. If she does not they beat her. Yep that's what happens to her compared to being in debt.

We also got to here that after MC's barrier finally broke that monsters flooded the whole kingdom killing all the innocent citizens and the seemingly only safe place was the royal capital where the poor king and prince being hunted by the IRS are hiding while a 14 year old girl uses her whole lifespan to maintain it for a year.

Here are also some random things about this that I hated/felt weird about:

At the end of every chapter we get a little sentence from the author that says things like. "She never stepped foot there again." "Little did they know the fate that awaited them." And crap like that. I think it's made to solidify the "karma" that befalls them but all I can think when I read them is that I have never felt so bit*h slapped by words before. The plot is in utter shambles and at the end of the chapter I had to listen to a writer with the abilities of a fifth grader play emo.

There was a LARGE segment of a chapter detailing the King's past actions. Note that none of these seem to be known to literally any character and it is never again touched on. It felt like a fever dream as a chapter. He killed MC's mother which broke off her ties to the other country and allowed him to take her to the palace. Before MC's appearance as an OP saint the method to previously maintain the barriers was to use many weaker saints to power them. However even 100 of them couldn't handle the power necessary so he forced them to use their lifespans to compensate. After MC appeared he locked these women up in a random tower so nobody would know. These were his future plans: He promised the surrounding countries that he would give them the barrier if they voided the costs of the ring he would make with all the scholars that would increase MC's power by 100x. He planned on using this to dominate them and seize more power. Honestly he was pretty smart and I think the reason there was a crazy amount of scenes showing him beating up people including his kid is because someone must have told the author "all these characters are so s*upid the only one who should live is the king because at least he has a brain." And the author made him a child ab*ser to stop people from liking him.

Also this might be a mistranslation (god I hope so) but there was also a narrated paragraph from her sister's perspective where she says she was busy for a week after MC first departs learning "the pleasures of bed" with the prince. I say again she & him are 14 & 16 which was just a strange and unnecessary thing to add.

I hated this so much and hate it even more after writing this.

Somebody give me my 30 minutes back.

Honestly the thing that upset me the most, after all this? The fact that the translation was actually really good. I can't believe someone with actual skills wasted it on this tr*sh.

(by the way I cannot get over the fact ML has all seeing magic eyes that allowed him to see the entire downfall of her previous kingdom which is just a huge unnecessary land mine of a plot hole because it means he would've been completely aware of what MC was going through. Okay I'm leaving this raised my blood pressure so much-)

Edit: I'm literally so pissed I accidentally clicked two stars instead of one. It does NOT deserve that extra star. <<less

Simple and cute. I liked it. Girl is kind of a doormat but it's more graceful than ditzy, so she's still very likeable. Guy is a blushing golden retriever. Everyone else from her old life are human personifications of dirty dish rags.

You can finish it in 30 -40 minutes in one sitting. You will already know what is coming, but it still satisfying to read what the baddies get their desserts. Since I cant give 2, 5 star I gave 3 star to make the ratings better

tolerable way to pass the time.

it feels like a childish synopsis of an actual story and I don't know if the author is lazy or if they just don't want to bother to write a full story, or if they just plain don't have the talent for writing but it feels very... naive.

there's nothing really offensive here so it's 'ok', just not very original or gripping. villains get punished, heroes rewarded, MC is a white lotus "who doesn't know how the world works" or her own worth.

if you're willing to... more>> turn off your brain, it's a nice way to kill time but don't expect a masterpiece. <<less
