Nagatsuki Kouki’s best friend, Shimomura Taiyo, has been popular with girls since junior high school. Some girls approached Nagatsuki, but it was all just a means to get close to Shimomura Taiyo. Because Shimomura Taiyo was too popular, he kept getting into trouble, and the two of them chose high schools far away.

However, for some reason, Kamiyama Fumika, from the same junior high school, was there as well. Furthermore, he saved two popular girls in his class, Mizusaki Yayoi and Satouchi Yoko, from being picked on, and they ended up spending their lunch break together.

All three girls, Mizusaki Yayoi, Satouchi Yoko, and Kamiyama Fumika, were after Shimomura Taiyo, and it was supposed to be none of Nagatsuki Kouki’s business……

    The major issue that this novel has is that the characters are not developed enough and the drama that should be there to help in that development feels shallow and overtly drawn out. Instead of focusing on the two main couples the author throws in unnecessary characters like the student council president. Even Yoko and Ibata, who were the first couple to get together, were sidelined and ultimately felt like unnecessary additions to the plot.

This was actually a good move in my opinion, but unfortunately the author wasn’t able to pivot well off the faulty foundation of the original premise and the character development suffers due to this.

    Overall a decent story plagued by its initial mistakes and doubling down on plot points that should have been done away with. Also the translation is really bad which doesn’t help in the slightest. I would give the story a 2, just for trying, and that’s being generous, but the translation quality drops this down to a 1 for me. <<less
