In her previous life, Su Liqian was just an ordinary game designer. But when she opened her eyes, she found herself in an interstellar era that resembled a futuristic world.

To her surprise, Su Liqian—who had already graduated years ago—had become a student who couldn’t even pass the high school entrance exam.

In this world, card masters can turn imagination into reality through their cards.

And so, Su Liqian awakened — carrying with her the memories of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

During this year’s Interstellar Card Tournament, a mysterious young Dream Caster appeared out of nowhere—the youngest in history.

When her opponent summoned a gigantic beast, the audience in the livestream watched as Su Liqian calmly pulled out a small glowing “container.”

Then she simply said,

“I call you once. Do you dare to respond?”

In an instant, the giant beast vanished on the spot.

When a dark horse contestant, once considered a top contender, summoned a towering S-rank python, the viewers shook their heads, thinking the match was already over.

But right then, Su Liqian created a new card on the spot. A long stick with holes appeared in her hand.

Before the chat could even get nervous for her, they watched as the terrifying beast began to twist and sway along with the sound from the stick.

And then came the flying “iron sword” in the sky, the strange-looking beasts, and those “people” that didn’t look like anything from any known planet.

What in the world are all these things?!

This is a pretty fun story set in a futuristic setting, where everyone can use their mental energy to summon special cards. Function cards are the most interesting in daily life - they can be used a limited number of times a day or week or at all, and provide various buffs, like energizing or healing the user.

It's interesting because the setting is in the interstellar era, but the focus on cards makes it feel like something out of Yu-Gi-Oh, including the passion everyone has for the game they're playing.... more>> The stakes are much higher than similar card game stories however, because duels are won by physically taking out the other person. Summoning a sword means you have to swing it at your opponent and stab them.

No romance yet, but I'm finding the story enjoyable, and the pacing is quick. In comparison to similar stories of an expert ending up in the future where they can show off their abilities, this one does a better than average job of maintaining the tension; competitors are literally fighting each other, so the MC is constantly struggling to keep up and grow against people who are much more familiar with fighting. There's also the beginning of a mystery in the background that we've only seen little hints of so far.

The prose isn't at all purple, and the descriptions aren't particularly vivid, but they do a decent job of conveying the picture of what's happening nonetheless. I honestly think that too much focus on describing visuals would get in the way of the more fast-paced tone of the story.

This novel has a fast-paced story direction that should slow down since world-building takes time. I am intrigued by the setting, and I adore how unique it is to utilize cards in an Interstellar Era. It reminds me of those magical girl anime, like Cardcaptor Sakura or Fate Illya Prisma. However, it does not have an impact or satisfaction due to its straightforward writing style. It lacks background and description. The author directly states what is happening without the usual narrative style or storyteller-like vibe. I had a hard time... more>> imagining the world created because the writing was generalized and insufficient in its storytelling. I always prefer a longer description because showing the reader is always more evocative than telling.

I wish they would delve deeper into the description of the Illusion World, especially the MC's own Illusion World. They made it too simplistic for my taste. You could say they tend to glaze over it. Also, I am only interested in the protagonist, and I couldn't care less about the supporting characters, no matter how much I try to like them. I usually like supporting characters, but it seems to be the opposite on this novel. Please take my word with a grain of salt. I might be lacking sleep when I type this. I am unsure if I want to continue reading this. I normally finish a novel before reviewing or reading it until the latest update in the raw version. But I started to lose interest quite quickly. I definitely can come back to this and complete it. Nonetheless, I'm being too critical, and I feel bad. <<less
