This story is just 3/5 AT MOST.

Holy hell it's bland as f*ck. There's nothing interesting.

Spoiler

Even the fight againts the King Drake has no real tension. There are no stakes. We know that he has to win or else it would've been disastrous

[collapse]

There are no real tension or excitement that I feel when reading this. In fact I'm just reading this. There are no expectations after all.

I will never be disappointed or exited in this story. After all I'm just reading not anticipating.

I've repeated it so much that you probably got my point. Go read some history books. At least they are actually entertaining. Not like these cardboard cutout story and cardboard cutout characters. <<less

this novel zooms through the school arc very quickly and moves on without a lot of extra filler (no entire chapters devoted to other peoples reactions or 20-50-100 chapter descriptions of long, drawn out fights and no 100 chapter tournaments). The MC in the novel is calm and collected and very thoughtful, and he acts his mental age.

I'm not a fan of harems but so far he's still in the process of meeting people so it hasn't been intolerable. I don't know if that changes later or not, we'll see... more>> (i expect my rating will drop if it's too annoying).

also, don't read this expecting this to be like the manhua, which has moments of slapstick out of nowhere and a definite shounen feel, as well as adding screen time for one character who follows him everywhere. This isn't a comedy, and the chick doesn't follow him in the book so if you're reading this for her, you'll only end up disappointed.

I'm enjoying it for what it is and my rating is 3.5 at the moment. <<less

The general idea of this novel is not bad but a lot is ruined by the personality of the main character and the attitude of the author towards providing information to the readers. The MC is a very advanced mage who somehow got his soul transferred to a new body 4000 years in the future. It takes almost 30 chapters before we find out why and the only reaction I had was why would the author hold back this information for so long? There is absolutely no reason to hide... more>> that information and to me it is more an extension of the authors writing style, constantly leaving out information that would make decisions and actions taken understandable. I guess the author is using this style to demonstrate that the MC is smart and knows things that others don't and that why he's so strong. Unfortunately the only thing this accomplishes is that it looks like the author is making up reasons afterwards to prevent making the MC seem to not have human emotions. I find it impossible to relate to the MC because of the writing style. A lot of that could have been prevented if the author explains more of the problems the MC faces before he takes action. For instance in the fight with the lich it would have helped a lot if the author explained the problems with the MC interfering with the lichs actions too soon. Because the author did not explain why the MC could not attack the lich upfront the actions taken by the MC do not feel like the actions taken by a person who wants to save the world from the beings that locked him up 4000 years ago (and even worse it looks like the way of thinking the beings that locked him up would use when confronting an enemy, there is no intent to save people or to prevent unnecessary casualties and for someone who wants to save the world you would think that part would be more important). <<less

I don't like writing reviews but this one I felt I had too because it irked me so much after reading as much as I probably shouldn't. Haven't read the manwha so no clue if it's better.

I picked this up because was something to read that I haven't yet. That's all it's good for. Not the best read and by far not the worst. Lot of clichés and unemotional MC or well he's just numb to everything but his goal of must defeat the Lord.

What makes me leave a review... more>> is it should have stopped after 1st season/book. It ended nicely. There was no need to explore more. That was a 4/5 for just being an easy read.

The 2nd season/book well after reading soooo much of it I can say its crap. I've been suffering through it trying to figure out what the author wants to tell, but it feels like the author is even lost in all the nonsense they created. Really throwing crap at walls, seeing what sticks, and hoping no one notices that they have no clue what going on either. Book 2 is 2/5 only because theres a tiny few concepts I like, but who knows where author going with those now as they keep doing nonsensical writing ruining any good flow to story. :/ <<less

A pretty good story with good magic and plot twists

But

.

.

The author seems not want his characters to be loved (even the MC)

+ there are a lot of mad characters appeared lately

the stronger you get less intelligent or freedoom you have

and MORE MAD character is

Novel, season 2, chapter 115

I picked up this novel after reading the manhwa adaptation, my first impression for this novel was good, great even - it had a good story, fun characters, some world building and it could have just keep on getting better but as things soon progress pass a hundred or some chapters, it soon turned into somewhat of a mess, with plotlines and foreshadowing being ignored or scrap, with how the world building and characters being underdeveloped near the end of season one.

I'll put here my opinion on the overall meat... more>> of this novel
Spoiler

.

  • The main character at the beginning was decent, he shown normal emotion, interacted with characters fairly decently but awkward at times and as he grows stronger he becomes more and more dull and almost like a one dimensional character.
  • Supporting characters and side characters are mostly here to prop the main protagonist up. If you have a favorite supporting/ side character you like, don't expect them to be flush out.
  • For the power scaling of the main protagonist and main villain, the best comparison for me on their gradual power increase maybe best compared to Bleach or Dragon Ball.
  • For romance... yea don't read this for the romance. Poor Iris.
  • It has some world building but its not explained or explored to much near the end.
  • The ending for season one was very disappointing, all that build up for such a lame ending. I don't really want to spoil it too much but think of the SpongeBob meme with SpongeBob and Patrick saying "We did it Patrick! We saved the city." and then cut into the next season without resolving any of the issues left behind after all of what happened.

Great novel. Kinda liked the fact that he sticks to his beliefs and sometimes acts very stubborn about it but still flexible enough to bend his perspective.

Truthfully, I kinda thought things escalated quickly, well, in a good way.

the demigods, apocalypse, lord, god, celestial realm, demon realm, mortal realm, balance of the realms, dragons, apostles, transcendents and everything was soooo hard to digest that my brain kinda whack and all. The truth about lucifer and satan, with the dragon lord and dro really hit me hard.

[collapse]

It was a bit disappointing how Peran Jun wasn't shown in the later chapters since it was nice seeing Frey act like his "age" when talking to Peran.
Spoiler

And when Trowan Rings' circle master died, seeing how Lukas acknowledged Beniang as his first ever (possible) disciple was a bit heart touching.

[collapse]

well, overall, it's a nice novel. It has it's flaws with the plot and some plot holes and seems kinda rushed but all in all, the novel is actually pretty fun and entertaining.
Spoiler

not a real spoiler and all, but if you just stop thinking and stop using your brain, it might be easier to read. (Since it's very complicated and the dialogues aren't really specified which sometimes cause confusion as to who's speaking) or maybe it's just me ┌ (・。・) ┘♪

To think I missed such a good sorry just because the summary was so pathetic :/ I hope someone writes a better summary seriously._. I suggest u read longer than 50 chapters tho before deciding to drop it or not ;)

Random thing:

The author sometime leaves random minor potholes.

The biggest one in the later chapters is when the MC can't use magic, as he needs to remove the trace of his magic yet the author didn't once explain how he kept using a fake identity (which needed illusion magic to... more>> change his appearance appropriately.) when he couldn't make illusions <<less

Story is fast paced but awesome. Brings you on a rollercoaster of emotions. People you hate, become people you love after you die. A lot of the characters are three dimensional in their own way. Hidden gem.

The writer has some good ideas and the world building isn't bad, but the MC is very boring and none of the other characters ever accomplish anything apart from stalling for time. The author has no idea what to do with his secondary characters and frequently just drops them in favor of a new character, but by the end very few have had properly developed and resolved character arcs. For example, there was a long side plot about a golem core a d how to turn it into a golem,... more>> but the resulting character never actually does anything noteworthy even though they should have been incredibly impactful.

As for Frey/Lukas himself, the story mainly just praises him as like coolest greatest guy ever but he never emotes and comes across as a moody hermit with anger issues. When the second season came around, after about thirty chapters or something the story was like "The long years have worn down emotions, that's why he's so different now." Bro, he's the same as always except that he talks a bit less. <<less

great pace, very interesting, nice plot, MC isnt too op and he still experiences hardships, he analyzes situations well and befriends new people while learning about his friends after his dissappearance. Very thrilling id compare it to ranker who lives a second time or solo leveling (which are both great action underdog mangas/novels go check them out in your free time) if you loved or liked those two this will be a good fit

The first "season" is fantasy reincarnation while the second is gods + dimensional fusion. The protagonist is overly stoic and too detached from the world for me. There is ironically more humanity/relationship in what I've read of the second season which deals more directly with godhood.

Yet, it all just feels like being strung along / getting your chain jerked. I was already disappointed enough with the conclusion of the first season and although there are some very likable characters in the second season, I do not have great hope for... more>> their futures.

I will say the first 3/4 of the first season were extremely solid and although I thought it was rushed from there, I am glad I read it. I'm somehow more interested in the setting of the second season if it didn't have the characters carrying over from the first that it does, but I'm cutting my losses here and dropping it. <<less

MC feels like a religious fanatic, self righteous one at that. Author writes like he is writing a religious text. This is right, this is wrong. As if even a black and white world can exist, yet because of contrast we know in black and white world there is still grey.

MC is supposedly some super badass but in reality he is in fact dumb as a bag of bricks. It honestly feels like its completely on the author. MC will think back and say oh I am doing this wrong.... more>> But repetitively continues to make same mistakes over and over and over. Fact is MC is dumb, but author keeps trying to make him into this intelligent character but MC is supposed to be smarter than author which is just not possible when author doesn't seem to know how to do it.

In terms of perspective in first "arc/season" you get a small bit of "good" and "evil" perspective. It mainly focuses on "good". But maybe its because "evil" is just not given enough time to explain itself, "evil" side of things make sense. Yet "good" where we spend most of our time reading about just isn't logical at all. And by this I mean story makes almost zero sense. It is like an old movie or cartoon where villain traps MC then proceeds to spill the beans and hero repetitively escapes and "defeats" the evil. Just so that next week or next movie it can happen again. When everyone is displayed as genius level masterminds this just gets annoying really quick. Feels like author is a child and were supposed to be their parents and just nod our head and laugh ignoring how terrible story is not coherent at all without shutting off your brain. <<less
