The other review is misrepresenting or outright wrong about some aspects of this story.

Intelligence/charisma is said to affect how players gain affinity with NPCs, and does make MC stutter and say sorry a lot. However, the reduced charisma is the effect of having reduced charisma. Having been isekai'd, how much charisma does a small blind girl need to receive goodwill? If the stuttering bothers you, it's going to bother you. But there's no contradiction.

The part about calling a boss tough as a newbie, and then saying as a veteran it's... more>> cute... well, yes a boss monster will often be tough for people new to a game. The BBQ was also not her idea, and there's a reason it was okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eight chapters in, this is rather interesting so far. It doesn't feel like it's keeping things from you, but also doesn't tell you everything right away. The MC knows a lot about the world she finds herself in, but doesn't show an encyclopedic knowledge of the story and every character. The MC has notable vulnerabilities, but also the power to make up for it.

It's still early, but so far it feels like it's keeping a good balance in everything it's trying to do. Would definitely recommend giving it a shot if the concept sounds interesting. Things like the stuttering can be an immediate turn off from a story, but if you don't despise it I don't think it's really that bad in this one. <<less

It's really good. The translation is a bit off in some places but mostly good (they might have used ai for it? Because it's mostly decent but sometimes mixes up the pronouns)

I would say it's a bit rough in the beginning because it's weird how fast everything moves and the friendships advance, but after the initial bump it gets really good.

Noah is a blind sword master. The gender bender part only came up a few times so it's barely in the story..

But the relationship between Noah and ruby/aileen is... more>> very cute and it's worth reading just for that.

The fight scenes are okay but they get a bit repetitive in their descriptions. Though I'm not sure if that's because of the translation or the writing

Overall I really liked it. Worth a read! And I don't even like these sort of sapphic stories but this one is very sweet <<less

Very good read. I like the character development in the novel as the MC starts off as a stuttering and shy character but becomes more confident and capable. The fight scenes are handled well and I like that there are not as many, as most of the chapters I've read are focused on character growth with some worldbuilding. Definitely the most intriguing part of the novel though is the mystery of mc's past and current predicament. It's not explained much but we get tiny tidbits here and there that paint... more>> a picture, his/her past plays a big role in driving her actions and although we have yet to know exactly what happened, we can get an idea of why this causes them to do the things they do. It also seems like there's more to the isekai aspect and why they're there but that just got hinted at in the chapter I just read so not sure about that yet. <<less

Cool concept that gets drowned by a pathetically annoying protagonist.

The setting is interesting; a souls-like game veteran comes across some sort of challenge on a forum depicting a playthrough as a flat greatsword -wielding blind (loli ?) girl.

To compensate, MC activates some kind of special trait : when the character wields her weapon, she gets some kind of ability to feel her surroundings.

This in-game ability to have a pseudo-vision translates to allocating all her in-game point to that specific trait because it's coslty, and allocating all of MC's points also... more>> means dowgrading every other character stat such as height, charisma, crafting, cooking ? and other stuff such as intelligence...

But upon completing character creation, MC is launched in the game-world as the character he created. A tiny (not even 150 cm) girl with a massive weapon straped to her back.

That's where the problem arises. In the game, the charisma stat downgrade means you have a rough time befriending NPCs, taking quests and such. That much is obvious in this type of game.

In the game-world, it turns MC into a "sorry" and stuttering audio machine. Which is frankly annoying at best, outright makes it unreadable at worst. It's funny for the first 2 chapters but as soon as MC encounters the priest girl (first waifu ?) the only thing she can say is "sorry" and its variants.

Even the priest says it's annoying.

Then you realise the setting doesn't match with what is expected from the character downgrades. Aren't NPCs supposed to act in a less favorable way with MC ? But she still has a nice guild receptionist backing her up and a seemingly indiferent blacksmith friend ?

Worse it that she basically goes to the man's shop to start speaking about details of a confidential quest with her client. How does that make sense for someone who's supposed to have trouble interacting with people ? But nah, it's fine because he's not the type to spread secrets.

Then her intelligence. I truly wonder what's up with her. She's all over the place. One second she's calling a wolf boss tough because at that time she was a newbie and seconds later she's like "oh, the in-game people say it's a strong and scary wolf, but we veterans call it a dog because it's cute". She also makes rather s*upid desicions such as wanting to do a BBQ in a forest at night...

We don't really feel a 8 years game-veteran speking sometimes but rather a still newbie player discovering the in-game mechanics.

At least that's coherent with intelligence stat downgrade I guess...

But at the end, the MC feels like a total pushover. It's fine in most cases but not to that extent. <<less

A well written enough, enjoyable novel with the tragedy tag? Count me in!

So far this novel has been enjoyable every step of the way, heart wrenching, funny, and entertaining all in moderation. I'm not a critical reader, however this is one of my new favorite novels!

As for the reviews hating on the MC, there are reasons explained as to why they act that way, some explicitly said while others less so. Although if you can't stand a shy/pathetic/socially-inept/other, this novel may not be for you?

I think that this story has a good concept with a lot of potential. In particular I like the aspect of her disability actually existing to some degree, since it feels like in every single blind/deaf/etc. protagonist literally in the first few chapters they get some magical solution that removes the disability. (Seriously, why bother adding blindness to your main character if your in the first three chapters give them the ability to sense everything nearby. It feels just like creating pity so your side characters can react with "They... more>> are blind but...." instead of actually using it for something ineresting)

Anyway, back to the actual book this review is about. I do think the series has a lot of potential. The main character's gimmick of essentially being crippled without her weapon is a good setup, and at least the general plotline seems pretty good.

Writing wise I feel like the book is a bit weak. Occasionally when reading it suddenly feels like I missed something and its jumpy, where it feels like they suddenly change location or are in a different situation. I don't know what its actually called, but at least to me the book didn't feel like it had a good flow. I'm not sure if this is just how the author wrote it or if its something with the translation, and to be clear its not really a big deal, but it was something that I noticed when reading.

Now, onto my big complaint that caused me to drop the book. I'll also add that this is very much my opinion, and its clear from other reviews that this is something that varies between people.

Spoiler

The biggest issue I had with this story is the Noah's relationship with Rubia. At least at this point in the story, their relationship just feels uncomfortable to read, and it really feels like a unhealthy relationship to me. At least for me this caused the sections that I think are suppose to be fluff enjoyable sections to feel a bit disturbing, and when that's caused by the relationship between the main character and the heroine it ruins the enjoyment of the entire story.

So, onto specifics. This might just be me reading too much into it, or something with translation, but it feels like an unhealthy relationship. I think its mainly how Rubia talks and acts, for example she has a lot of lines that feel like gaslighting and manipulative.

To quote an interaction from chapter 26.

"The rubia I first met was... re-really... sca-"

"Sca"

Rubia's voice dropped.

If I say she was 'scary'... I'll be in big trouble...!

And this is by no means the only time that we get lines like this. While I'm not going to go find the lines I remember quite a few about "You wouldn't lie to me" or Rubia pressuring Noah in various ways. Another example is it felt to me like Rubia pressured Noah into admitting that she is weak without her sword. The internal thoughts we got of Noah at that time felt like "She told me her secret so I have to be honest" when Rubia's secret was her hiding her identity (Something that could of gotten Noah killed, because she had people after her) while Noah's secret is literally giving away her weakness that can easily be used to harm her.

I can go on and on about these interactions. How Rubia told Noah that she would be kidnapped and experimented on by mages, which causes Noah to feel scared and always hold her hand. How Rubia wanted to sleep together, and even after Noah said no she kept pushing the issue eventually getting her way. The biggest one that finally made me drop the book is how she acted at the blacksmith. Rubia, knowing that Noah is blind and helpless without her sword, purposefully wanted the blacksmith to spend more time on the blade since she wanted Noah to be helpless.

We get scenes like after Noah spent the night with her she woke up naked, which Rubia claims she did in her sleep. Then when Noah is getting dressed she asks Rubia to leave and if I remember correctly Rubia teased her for being embarrassed and said she would look away, but with the main characters blindness we don't know if that's true.

While this can continue, I think I've made my point where their interactions don't feel like a good relationship but rather one that feels bad. It doesn't feel like Rubia actually cares about Noah, especially with her direct actions where it seems like she was purposefully extending the time that Noah was weak. It feels just so manipulative when we see the prospective of the main character where she is scared and hesitant to speak her true feelings, where she gets pressured into doing things, where she is being taken advantage of.

Their relationship feels like such a crucial part of the book, with Noah's main goal being to save Rubia from having to sacrifice herself for the world but the issue is I don't have any attachment to it. There is just so many lines that it feels to me like rather than Noah protecting Rubia out of love, it feels like its due to manipulation. I wouldn't even say its malicious where Rubia is evil, I don't even know if the author intended it, but it just feels uncomfortable to me every time I read lines like this. It might just be a bi-product of having the MC be so mentally weak that it ends up coming off this way, but regardless it can all be summed up with it doesn't feel enjoyable to read to me.

Just an initial review, though early, seems serious enough.

The MC... Is kinda insufferable. As one comment said, she is pretty much all over the place and a far cry from a veteran.

Spoiler

From the get go, mandatory focus on the other female lead's bust seems to be in place--MC unnecessarily paying a fair lot of attention to it in a rather infantile mannerism too.

Then there's the constant apologizing and ramblings of the MC like complaining how her soon to be journey partner was so insensitive and yet she herself is totally unaware of the fact that she fails to consider her clients needs like it should've been obvious the client was in a hurry or so and yet she keeps on wanting to be sentimental and romantic, slowing down the journey.

All in all, MC is pretty unlikable from the get go and possibly a pe*vert that does not know the time and place for things, the supposed veteran status MC claims to have is more like pride at this point in time since her conduct was far from being professional, more like an amateur, yes. Even with the supposed lowered stats and handicaps, MC seems quite unreliable and full of themselves, shallow too. Seriously shallow given how much she apologizes and complains but never seems to actually learn anything good from it--Case in point, complaining about not having a romantic adventure and ending up camping in the middle of the woods due to the delay in the schedule, and yes, you guessed it right if you thought of MC apologizing but pretty much just for the sake of apologizing.

Not to mention the times the MC put the great sword, her literal lifeline, aside like it was nothing just to have a bit of fun like jumping on grass whilst out on a mission whilst also pouting and being such a child.

On that note, not looking too bright given how many flaws the MCs had raked up already.

[collapse]

Well, will still try to continue the read and see how the rest goes but yeah.

Wrote this at C5.

Dropping at C6

Seriously, the MC is just horrid. Pretty much tr*sh talks her client so much, no sense of actual respect nor professionalism, worse is doing so whilst being unaware of her own blatant flaws like on how fixated she is on wanting to make things more romantic. Like, seriously... MC doesn't deserve the kindness nor sympathy of others. Her character is quite black and has very strange fixations, speaking of which, her clingyness to that guild receptionist leans more on bias/obsession rather than actual appreciation I reckon, given how her conduct with others were.

Fairly certain the trope of having lower stats including charm and intelligence was just an excuse by the author to make sloppy writing and infantile jokes about the MC and such. Don't think it was done well aside from being used for convenience for the MC and set ups.

Benefit of doubt that it gets better later on but not gonna take my chances to stick around just for that, given how these things usually go.

Initial premise was interesting and nice but then it flopped with the character interactions and development, mainly due to how the MC was made out to be which conflicts with the her supposed background. <<less

I reccomend reading this because the author uses comedy quite well to make the serious scenes hit harder.

The downsides our character receives can be seen as non-existent like the low charisma, but it actually makes sense when you realize:

Spoiler

most of the time she is trying her hardest to be seen as a dependable adult and spectacularly failed, so most people either see her as a goofy kid or a very poor child and some gets protective over her

[collapse]

I also like the way the author shows how her blindness can make her feel extremely vulnerable, at first it seems like the downsides doesn't really affect her that badly at all till you piece together all the new information you get as the story goes:

Spoiler

she is fully blind when she let's go of her weapon or greatsword, without it she would be unable to even walk properly while feeling anxious

And what I liked about this is how as the stories goes, you realized how bad the blindness is affecting her even before the story begin by piecing together the scenes the author put

One of main and often problem our MC has to go trough as the story goes is having her sword constantly break mid battle, so most of the time she is forced to fight with a broken weapon

Well I hope you can piece together just how bad and hopeless her situation is before meeting the priestess, but I suggest reading the novel yourself

[collapse]

Well maybe I'm just over analyzing this novel, but I suggests giving it a read. <<less

I love the concept, like a blind girl trying to navigate this new fantasy word sounds fun. That along with the Yuri aspect sold the deal for me. I also loved the idea of a little girl swinging around a big sword, sounds hilarious. Those were the key points that hooked me.

Unfortunately, I dropped the book because of the sheer amount of stuttering the MC does. She speaks fine in her mind but whenever she opens her mouth she stutters more than a wattpad y/n. It's honestly annoying. But, if... more>> you can bear past that then I guess this book is for you. <<less
