He had never invested in shares or bought a lottery ticket, and neither did he have any experience in the general business industry. Lu Li found that the only thing he could do was play games.

Luckily he had experienced rebirth, and was one step ahead of everyone else. Luckily, games had been developing extremely quickly, and there were many people who had become rich through playing games.

In his ‘past life’, he had spent countless nights awake, in grief and anguish. However, although all of this had been washed away, so what…? This life, he was determined to make a fierce counterattack against fate and stand at the very top!

Chapter 169

I was thinking about dropping this story once every 30/40 chapters, here is where I give up.

At the very start MC (author) tells us who were the best players in his previous life, so I lost all sense of mystery about future powerful characters since now I know every single one of them now... TY SO MUCH AUTHOR-SAN!

World building sucks ass! The only thing I could imagine is map with borders, I usually have no problem with imagining, but holy crap I had to look up so many things.... more>> At some point, I thought that author thinks everybody played WoW and have basic knowledge about all sorts of stuff, but the problem is I NEVER PLAYED THAT GAME!

I hate like half of his teammates, especially Hunter girl that MC took into his "PRO-TEAM" just because he felt a little bad for her, every time she would be mentioned I would lose all my gained up excitement and ask my self "Why the heck is she still there?". She is useless and just lags behind others, MC has to constantly give her op and expensive equipment otherwise she would lag behind even more.

3/4 of the story is copied from game called World of Warcraft, author is a lazy truck that have 0 original ideas for his novel and the result is this crap.

Everything that "ResidentialPsycho" said is true, and I relate to a lot of his points, there is no reason to waste time on this VRMMO novel, you're better off reading RotSSG because this story is basically the same, it's just written in a more boring way.

3'4* rating for this novel is way too much in my opinion, maybe it gets better, I don't know, and I don't feel like ever finding out my self. <<less

This novel Takes the same ideas as rebirth of the thief who roamed the world and reincarnation of the strongest sword god and presents them in a more boring way.

If that was all It would only be a bit worse than average and get 2-3 stars. But the author based the novel on world of Warcraft, which is fine, but then he was so lazy that he didn't even change anything. All the places have the same names as in the game, skill names are the same, races are the... more>> same etc. I feel like the author just assumes you have played wow before because half the stuff isn't properly explained.

To top it all off the author reminds us every few chapters that the game is a job for the MC and is not there for fun because he really needs money. Immediately after that MC will drop pretty much the best gear in the server and give it to his friends for free even if they are average players and not of much help. At one point his friends even sell the gear instead of wearing it and don't give MC any money? Why???? <<less

I liked the novel, there were some plotholes, and I'd like more of the romance or some more chapters as an epilog, others say it was copy of WoW, and to be honest it was, but it was also nice to see the characters here

Could be better and it has some good qualities. I would have rated it higher in the beginning.

Two of the main problems are characters and plot.

The characters never develop and stay one dimensional (MC included) and I have lost the direction of story.

Meaning: it is simply getting boring : (

An MMORPG novel that is greatly influenced by World of Warcraft. It is a decent novel but a bit disappointing with little to no originality in what he has copied.

A fairly mediocre power fantasy rip-off of World of Warcraft. Not great, not terrible, bust still engaging if you don't think about it too much.

The characters are largely flat with little in the way of character development, moastly serving to show off the MC's strength of character (his friends and allies) or his strength (his enemies). The MC's character is all over the place, at times. Even his little sister, whose health is his primary motivation, is hardly more than a simple plot device.

Speaking of, the plot is fairly basic,... more>> what it says in the tin is what you get. The MC returns to the past and gets a second chance at life, and he uses his future knowledge to his best advantage by playing a game. The entire plot from then on revolves around him getting ahead and staying there, with the same motivation from start to finish, and while there are challenges to overcome, at the end of the day, everything works out well enough for the MC.

So yeah, the writing has a lot of room for improvement, but it is a perfectly adequate read if you just want to shut off your brain for a while and dive into a story. As long as you don't mind the blatant rip-off. <<less

This one is hard to write for me, as I cannot 100% judge its on its own value.

I have started it after reading Mages are too op because I wanted to go back to a more traditional MMO based Story. And The Great Thief has everything what it needs to be good at one.

Sadly its one of the titles where I catch myself to read less and less. It just doesn't catch me in the same way. I don't know why tbh, but I think I look for something that... more>> gets me more on the emotional side.

Again, as long as you just read it for the Virtual MMO content it is great. <<less

This is not a novel, this is a showcase of skill-of: "self-sucking abilities". And it's being are being glorified with Boating Lyrics unskilled, untalented writing sense in all of its capacity. Primary: "Greed, Naivety and Pretentiousness".

It's a writing about how BL (yes looks like boyslove, ironic, the author does have a bias against them and he shows it well) would be if it was him in the position of LL, he has his sorrowful make me cry story, the perfect woman who he acts indifferently without noticing, the friends that... more>> just are friends and deal with it because there are a line of explanation of how long and why good friends so fast great suck a dick.

Failure as a novel, and just if you do think it is, it is from a 5yo mindset, there is no way for a better explanation or synopsis.

It IS entertaining, pity I'm not into self-sucking videos for 3hrs straight every new chapter. Also, logic, meta and laws around the game and real life in the writing, are all not only immensely flawed and plotholed like joe mama; but they are such newbie theoretical reasoning after 10 minutes of playing a complicated game, that's BL's way of writing this writing... have fun. <<less

Up to like chapter 200 it was pretty nice, after that it felt more boring + there's too much excessive socialising etc.

At 600+ I've started skipping pretty hard. Currently decided to stop at 746 - having too many reminders as of why I don't rly like people (Water Fairy, Hachi and some others, the guild stuff isn't my thing either). And overall nothing really new, yet another item, another tournament. MC still follows the path to gain more money and to spend it on luxury (house, guild, tournaments etc). One... more>> of the things is... he's spent so much gold onto the ring upgrade but even then he'd do well without the upgrades, only with the OP shapeshiftings. And he was spending all that money while still needing it for his sis. Why does he still try to be the best in-game after he's dealt with that problem? Why spend all those sums to win tournaments, buy a house while he spends all the time in game (unless there's smth rly urgent) and I doubt he's the type to ignore VR after this game ends. Staying on top requires lots of expenditures, especially in this "tycoon"-oriented game. where there's lots of "heaven-defying" items (mostly no bound items), rare skillbooks, lots of ways to spend gold, unlimited ways of "donation"-p2w etc. This game pretty much isn't good enough.

I myself have played WoW for quite a lot of time, though have stayed mostly up to Wotlk expansion (non-official). Something about lore in this novel I've found interesting, but mostly the world wasn't really fun. But it wasn't all that annoying either. WoW in here is modified.

Like in every novel pretty much there's some stuff that is really doubtful - something like plot armor for the MC (like the ridiculous skill completion %.. I doubt that most players would require even 3 weeks to have at least 80% at most frequently used skills... And pls remember that MC wasn't playing rogue before rebirth... he was a druid... DRUID! Surely no complex dagger motions etc, just some casting and melee in forms! Why the heck he has better skill completion rates pretty much right from the start while many professionals had that role in VR for so long!? There's just mostly the same dagger motions, unless they're completely unrelated to reality. And he released the secrets about manual mode right in the starting village.). <<less

There isn't that much to say about this novel, it's beyond average as an MMO and apparently influenced by WoW which I've never played. Some of the background stories of the NPCs gives me a little tingle in the heart but the main story I honestly don't feel a thing. It's bland is the only way I can describe it. That doesn't mean its terrible, it's just average.

Though the one thing I've noticed with this novel is that the author uses every chance to get to stereotype women and a... more>> lot of Chinese novels tend to do that but this is on a whole other level as if this author has never even talked to a female before and just bases things off the Internet. Even when the female characters are very strong, the author would just shove a stereotyped characteristic or two onto her and feels very forced and completely changes that persons character.

Overall, a very average novel. Do I recommend it? If you got nothing else to read or do, go ahead. If you do have something else to read, definitely go for that over this. <<less

i enjoyed this novel however I have the same issue with this as I do with Tang Jia San Shao. It has no staying power after reading for to long it gets really boring and you just want to skip ahead just so you can reach the conclusion however unlike Tang Jia San Shao's (i get bored of them because he uses foreshadowing to reveal major plot twists early on so we have a clearer idea on what will happen than most novels however I also highly recommend his works)... more>> works the plot in this just runs thin until it just disappears there is no foreshadowing that makes me think that the plot will thicken and we will get to a part where we can't wait for the next chapter.

TL:DR the plot pretty much disappears with no foreshadowing to imply that it will have anymore like a fountain of youth that start spewing water instead. <<less

The novel way of phasing the story is superb compared to other novel.. as it considered both the casual and competitive part of the game.. any one who is interested in mmporg will sure love this novel...

Starting is a bit same but story progressing and events and character development make up for the start.. and the story gets interesting as it gets to later part of the story.. compared to other novel which which creates unrelated armor plot and irregular tragedies..

Basically you have characters with absolutely no character development. A guy who is surrounded by beauties but doesn't even care but apparently he is straight. A lot of backstory that I honestly don't give a sh*t about cause its only about the game characters that we meet once. Cool idea, decent writing, poor execution. Honestly I am only reading for the romance but there is none. The slow romance tag is a lie. If you don't believe me than read this. After like ch 60 if you don't believe than... more>> idk whats wrong with you. <<less
