I've read this novel muliple times for the past 3 years and I never got tired of it. I've read the first 600 ch (not sure about the numbers) in Webnovel and made do with MTLs all this while. This piece is a hidden gem!

It introduced me to the world of folk and independent music. I've watched art movies because of this as well.

I don't even have proper words to sing the praises of this novel. It's one of the most beautiful and immersive novels I've read, and easily the best acting and showbiz novel. The MC, Renly Hall, is one of the biggest reasons as to why this is the case. His ideals, goals, and ethics are so refreshing and eye-opening. The side characters are also very well written and 3-dimensional, they aren't just there to prop up and support the MC like in most acting novels.

I have a life hack that will help with this, simply paste the mtl text into chatgpt with the prompt "Polish the below text for flow and clarity suitable for a novel", and the output is amazing translation that in some cases is even better than actual translations. This is a fun read but overstays its welcome. As with a few similar novels based on reincarnation/second chances, the main character takes full advantage of unreleased popular songs. suddenly become villains as the author needed them to be the foil to the main character. They don't really start off with a good backstory for why they become the villain sometimes. Despite all of that, I did enjoy all 2.5k chapters I've read and am disappointed it ended where it did.

So why did I say the story overstayed it's welcome? Isn't it contradictory to say it overstayed it's welcome and still be disappointed it ended? The story could be broken into two parts really.

It's not really the best like other reviews have stated. Sure, the plot had its moments and highlights, but the story itself is quite average. You would have to have immense patience to read through a lot of exposition just for one event to proceed to the next. That said, it is indeed something worth reading. The pacing between key events can also be very erratic: it'd go on about the awards season for about 10 chapters mentioning this and that, but the development of the story doesn't really happen... more>> at all. Then we'd have some interesting bits about the MC, his background, his personal relationships... for like one or two chapters before the story goes back to being another 🤓 on showbiz.

There's also quite a lot of references that might make you stay interested with the plot. If you've got a lot of time to waste and some interest in the workings of showbiz and media (portrayal is kind of accurate, but quite dubious), then you might want to try this novel a shot... just be warned that it's going to take a lot of your tolerance just to finish the Author's glossing over minute details. <<less

I'm a person that doesn't read novels with long chapters because I find it exhausting and time consuming but this, this made me read a fxcking 2k+ chapter do you believe it because I can't believe either, that's just how wonderful this story is. Believe me you won't regret reading this masterpiece especially if you are into entertainment novels.

Im not finished with this novel yet as its LONG but I needed to write a review.

World building: It's our world lol, except early 2010's.

Characters: The author does a great job at making the people feel alive (although technically I guess they are). They have different distinct personalities and well you may risk a celebrity you like getting depicted in a bad view (Like Brad Pitt and Angelina) but mostly they're likable.

The author also does great with sometimes switching to the POV of fans of Renly so you can truly... more>> see how far he's come. This happens fairly often and is a great touch.

Renly himself is a gentleman and a GENIUS (as mentioned by literally everyone) haha. Although I wish his previous life impacted him more as I often forget hes a reincarnator.

Some cons:

The so-called humor that Renly has is... well maybe it's funny in chinese writing but with MTL he's just saying whatever and for some reason people are loosing their balls over it. Not a big deal tho, rather this than everyone finding him to be an unfunny dork.

MTL: Well there are 600 chaps on webnovel (450 when I started) but you have to MTL the rest. Luckily it's written in simple chinese. Some novels make zero sense MTL'ed but this one mostly does well. Translating with deepL does it even better but takes a longer time than just translating the page on google.

Anyway as a huge showbiz fan who has read many novels this is my absolute favourite. It goes into incredible detail (although too much detail sometimes) on the movies, industry etc. <<less

GOD!!!!

The best novel I've read from the world of entertainment, each chapter has you trapped in the plot and the complexity of the novel is at a higher level, the relationships with the other actor friends and how it impacts the life of the protagonist are super well written. The protagonist is my favorite character, the complexity of how they wrote it is incredible and you feel sympathy for him, a wonderful novel that you spend time flying reading it.
