This is a pretty good novel, it does a great job of balancing a tragic and gloomy theme with light fun. One of the most unique things about it is MC is both the center of the world and plot and same time not.

To explain better, the organizations in this world have been in conflict for hundreds of years with intertwined history and goals. You have double crossing, triple crossing everyone is at each other's throats despite stuff seeming normal on the surface. The MC despite warranting their attention fits... more>> themselves in these gaps to rob people blind. Of course MC having multiple forms lets her take on multiple personas and concealment ability helps a lot. But the intertwined conflicts is what creates a window of opportunity.

On top of that there are few enemies that are outright evil. It's a complex world where everyone is doing what they think is best even if their actions are ultimately seen as evil.

The universe was destroyed, millions of civilizations annihilated. And the one who destroyed them is a god.

The world they live in is just a small leftovers that was saved by god. And god is destroying those left overs.

What god is, is effectively like a law. So imagine if a new law of physics was suddently introduced to our universe? Everything would collapse.

Over time, this law against a consciousness and a merciful one. But it can't stop it's own law, it's like asking a person to stop breathing. All they can do is temporary hold their breath

And the closer people get to the truth, the more despair and more crazy things they are willing to try. And even worse, all of it is pointless as even god themselves failed let alone mortals who don't even know the whole truth

The story is fully plot driven and doesn't use MC agro to push it.

In the world exists grotesques which are like unique monsters or phenomena and are on the grotesques paths. And there exists awakened which have opposite paths whose goal is to stop the groesques. Of course the grotesques could be made into artifacts or one can borrow their power at a price. The true powerful grotesques are in top 50 called high risk are also by some called gods.

The story starts with the MC gaining super strength but also constantly sleeping. Taken care of by her sister (not related), but then in the clinic she meets a crazy woman who begs the doctor to save her baby. But MC sees a grotesques baby eating her flesh yet realizes no one else sees it. But in reality the doctor sees it and claims MC is suffering from mental issues, then tries to kill the MC and make her into a puppet. This starts her path into the mystery of the world as she ends up devouring the grotesques and gaining her first form and pretends to be an awakened to learn the truth and also protect her sister. It's a slow starter so give it time to cook.

The story is light Yuri, it's there but minimum. Well I say minimum but in terms of how much intimacy characters have and how much focus it has in the plot. Otherwise, in terms of existence, let's just say Yuri is the only relationships in this world. Despite even characters themselves admitting Yuri isn't an accepted practice, everyone for some reason wants to hook up MC with their daughter. I don't think there is a single hetro relationship, all the mothers have no husbands, the once that do are divorced, and ones that weren't are dead.

The story stays solid except the last parts. It isn't that the last parts are bad, in terms of endings it may be one of the better ones and I wasn't left unsatisfied. Just compared to all the double crossing and triple crossing and all, but last part is too straight of a line. Like author wanting to just wrap everything up (without rushing). On top of that, the mystery is effectively solved but MC still needs definite proof, which kind of takes up dozens of chapters. Again, they aren't bad, just not at the same quality. Don't let this discourage you from reading it though because as I said the ending is still better than most

By the way, I read all the authors books and in my opinion this one is by far the best one. The books also have minor cameos from other books since they are in same multiverse. All the books though follow the same overall theme though done quite different. <<less

This one is good, You can try it. Many mystery and interesting part that will slowly draw you in. Don't get Your hope high first as it still only a few chapters, read it slowly and try to enjoy the view, if you like where the main character have Identity crisis, then You absolutely will like this. Every character that I seen already have background story', even though in the end they (ykwim). The story didn't feel too paced but not slow either, the world-building is taken slowly, not immediately... more>> get forced into us like parent put vegetable into their baby mouth. The plot, as this still the beginning, not really stand out. But but I have a guess about WB

Anyway, read it, I bet if you take it slow, this one won't disappointing You. <<less

Just all around an extremely interesting read that balances a dark and fun side really well. Here's a general breakdown (no real spoilers) since the description might seem like it doesn't say much.

A rough synopsis is that an impoverished high school girl Luo Ling is struck by an extremely strange ailment, eventually leading to her discovery of the supernatural side to the world. Sounds pretty standard, but honestly this one is special.

. The story focuses more on mystery than getting stronger, but there's a lot of that too. And the mystery is great, the twist in the first volume definitely was well written as it was kind of alluded to but works its way into the story and the future very well.

The world building is very cool, the concepts and imagination behind it is impressive. Light spoiler, basically the universe is a bunch of boundaries split by void, running on different times/places that are influenced by grotesqueries, the de facto demonic powers of the world (kinda like the bleach universe in a way). There's a bunch of shady string-pullers behind the scene.

Luo Ling might seem like a boring MC on the surface, with her deadpan and serious attitude most of the time, but she is pretty enjoyable and is pretty witty sometimes. She's very low key. Also I mean her terrible things happen to her and she shoulders a lot of responsibility so it kind of makes sense. She is quite ruthless but still caring.

If you are looking for yuri there really isn't anything yet, only rare moments, and it doesn't seem like that's going to be focused at all for the time being (who knows though, trust the tags). <<less
