The son of a servant, Yan Bubu, was destined to serve Young Master Feng Chen for life from the moment he was born.

Said young master was as cold and piercing as a bullet fired at absolute zero. The thick layer of ice that seemed to encase Feng Chen kept everyone at a distance.

Despite this, Yan Bubu only had eyes for Feng Chen. He offered up his only toy. “Here, Big Brother.”

“Who’s your big brother?” Feng Chen looked down and asked coldly.

Yan Bubu s**ked on his thumb and smiled. “Big Brother is so silly. Of course it’s you!”

Feng Chen didn’t like this sticky little follower, even if Yan Bubu looked at him like he was the sun and called him ‘big brother’ in the sweetest tone.

Yet when the world ended, 12 year old Feng Chen took the young Yan Bubu along as he made his escape.

Earthquakes. Floods. Extreme temperatures. Epidemics. Mutated flora and fauna.

Two children alone guarded an empty city, facing this brand new world and the dangers lurking around every corner together.

Feng Chen never once thought of abandoning Yan Bubu during those years where they struggled to survive.

Yan Bubu was his everything.

4.8/5 One of the best novels I have read so far and the best guideverse I have came across. Ahhh I'm going to miss Budu, Feng Chen, Nunu, Sasa, and everyone in this.

This novel is truly a survival novel. The childhood part took up almost half of the novel before they grew up to their young adult self. The MC and ML were not OP, and they learned how to go through the apocalypse together as they are both each other savior. It wasn't until the end, when ML got... more>> a power boost that he could be considered "OP" but even then, there was a limit to that. In that sense, this made the story so much more "realistic" and truly a journey of struggle trying to grow up in an apocalyptic world. Precisely because of this that I could submerge myself so much in their world that my heart would go up and down through each of their dangerous moments, which were a lot of moments. Haizzz, I might need a fluffy novel to reset myself before another plot-heavy focus one

Spoiler

My only pet peeve is that during their childhood phrase, they experienced danger after danger to the point where it was repetitive and unnecessary. There was not a single break for them that I felt so bad and angry that the author would put them through this.

I absolutely adore this novel. It was really good. While I was reading this novel, I truly loved it when it was set during their children time. Not much so for after they become an adult.

I'm unsure if it's just my comprehension problem or what but the reasons that author gave in the novel regarding the beginning of the apocalypse. I think it's not very feasible ... more>>

since the author is trying to say that the apocalypse is manmade but how do you explain the natural disaster that follows it? I would've believe more in that reason if the destruction is caused by only the mutants due to mutation but what about the changes in seasons that beyong human control?

Over all, it's a 4.5 stars for me. I remembered crying a few times while reading so it's definitely worth the read. Just not fond of their teenager years last arc (nearing the end) <<less

It's so well written. The author had a real good grasp of how to tug our emotions as a reader. When it's funny, I laughed myself out, when it's sad I bawled myself out. Good thing author reassured on authors corner that MCs will be fine after I cried a ton on certain chapters. I was also skeptical how the author would execute the story after the time skip, since the first half when they were kids was quite hilarious because of bubus train of thought as a kid, I... more>> was worried that when they grow up the feelings are gonna be out of place or somehow cheesy but thankfully 2nd half was executed well and the love was not out of place at all. <<less
