Well at the start of the novel I really enjoyed it, it wasn't really a new concept but you could right away tell that it was a quality novel, something many generic chinese novel lack.

The character are not one dimensional and we'll designed, the world building is good.

The problem for me start with the descriptions, don't get me wrong they are really good and we'll written it's just that they doesn't match. The description is written like it's a VR super realistic game when in actually it's a game which... more>> you play it with keyboard and mouse.

If that was all I wouldn't mind but after a couple hundreds of chapter the descriptions just start to get long and boring, they doesn't short and precise and neither make your blood boil if you get what I mean, at some point I just started to skip them and eventually I dropped the novel.

T.D.L.R

The story is a rare hige quality one but the descriptions are boring and long, it's just my preference, I would recommend to read it a couple of chapters and see if the novel is to your liking <<less

OH MY GOD. This book is truly, absolutely, the most amazing piece of work I've read in the past few years. I rately write any reviews on books that I've read, but for TKA, I really can't resist. I just have to share this feeling of amezement.

Where to start? First off, the MC Ye Xiu. His character truly touched me. His stubborn never-back-down yet cunning nature, his belief on his and his team capability, his sentiment toward the game, his struggle on the way of being the champion, everything was... more>> written perfectly in the novel. The other characters are interesting as well, but no one, no one in this story would ever surpass Ye Xiu in my heart. This guy is truly the God of Glory.

The story itself was very detailed, I love how the writer slowly help us to understand the characters and the world of Glory. Although there are many in-game terms that you may need to look up sometimes if you're a complete noob at gaming like me, it didn't lessen the enjoyment I had when reading this book.

I cried, laughed, and screamed together with the characters. I think I could feel their pain, their struggle, their determination during their journey, to surpass their selves of today, to beat anyone in their way, to stand on the peak of glory.

Truly a masterpiece. I might revisit this story one day. Though it's super long, it was a fun ride. Glory to The King's Avatar! <<less

Before reading the novel know these:

- This isnt a faceslapping and revenge story. Though most of the time MC unintentionally faceslaps enemies with his success. Success is the best revenge I guess.

-The pro circle is small (though tough luck into memorizing all the names) every team are enemies however you can see professionalism and camraderie. You wont see any 3rd rate offline sabotages. Every team strives for victory. Offline, most of them are friendly or professional to chat outside the game and joke around. They even have a QQ groupchat.

-... more>> This is more of a sport novel. Very different from the usual VR/ adventure novels. This isnt vr ar all.

- No romance. Very subtile hints but author is writing an esports story... not romance.

- Competions. Once competions part have started, it will never end. Again this is more of a sports story. I'm not much of a fan of this genre but I like this one very much. I recommend this if you play games like dota and mobile legends. Those with 5v5 format or any other games. Especially if you like watching livestreams of esports. However for non gamers... idk, might be boring for some.

I watched the drama first then the novel. I read it from start to end and noticed differences. Although the novel is better, they both have their strong points. Plus points for the extra backstory in the drama, but they cut/shortened many parts, such as MC's effort to look for teammates. So restart from ch 1 if u did watch the drama coz it has multiple changes <<less

One of the best c-novel I've ever read and one of THE BEST MC OF ALL TIMES (strength, intelligence and personality - wise) !!! (In my opinion, and based on the c-novel I've until now)

Spoiler

I just love how he drives every pro player crazy in game and during matches with his unconventional class and his dirty schemes and tactics, along with his dirty talks and how daring he is, for example when he just began healing himself and restoring his mp during his first match against Sun Xiang. It was so satisfying!!!

I also like his passion for the game and how he sticks to his beliefs as a pro player of Glory until the very end, not abandoning his dreams of victory even though in the eyes of others he was way past his primes and already out of the pro stage.

[collapse]

I agree that the story can be too slow because of all the farming and the dungeons, however I think it's part of every game of the same kind as Glory and that thanks to this it may seem more real. (I confess that some part of the story were a bit skipped as it was way too slow but I still did my best not to miss anything important or funny)

Anyway I think that these 1728 chapters were definitely worth it and I really enjoyed myself ✧٩ (ˊωˋ*) و✧. I HIGHLY recommend it!!

For those who get easily bored with all the leveling and farming, I would advise you to watch the c-drama adaptation. It focuses more on the team-building and the relationship between team members, and less on the game content. For now only the first season is out
Spoiler

(it shows until Happy's victory against Excellent Era at the final of the Challegers competition)

, and the season 2 was already announced without much informations about it. The drama also offers more content regarding Ye Xiu's past that was'nt mentioned much in the novel. <<less

Reading TKA had been really enjoyable. The MC's love for the game, the friendship and rivalry between players, and the fights were really fun to read. For me I loved every part of the novel (considering its 1700+ chapters) and I do hope that more people will enjoy this great read

There are a lot (when I say a lot, it is a lot) of characters in this novel, but that makes sense as there are a lot of clubs and guilds as well. Other than that, the story is lovely, the characters are nicely written, and there are a lot of details and thoughts put into the Glory that it felt as if Glory really does exist.

This novel is great but you can't say that it didn't have any flaws. Just as the others stated, some scenes may be repetitive and slow moving, but I just love how the author not only focuses on the MC and his close aides, but also to other characters. Well, I just love Ye Xiu's shamelessness hahaha.

The story is very well-written. Big or small plots are well-thought and planned. It's quite slow pace as author explains every action every single fight. There are few funny cliche here and there. MC is op but he knows his limit. He runs away or schemes to overcome crisis. No pure luck or BS cheat as other norm novels.

Edition and Translation are superb. 5/5.

Con: It got bored from time to time as the main plot is all about gaming. MC is pretty much at Internet Cafe all day and night.... more>> (Life sucks?) Also, many actions in game which are explained in detail (too long). MC avatar runs around game map, doing quests, fighting, etc. I admit that I skipped few paragraphs during the fights. I had to read it alternately with other novels.

Overall - Very good read. Big applause to the author. <<less

Had to rate just 5 stars, because I'm not allowed to rate 10!!

It's light (perfect with morning coffee), humorous, no drama or angst, only few precious bittersweet moments and memories.

I'm not a gamer, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to play, so this novel is perfect for people like me. I didn't get annoyed with grinding stuff or not very accurate settings like some diehard gamers who commented AND rated bad. After all - all games has their own specific things and Glory has it too, just know... more>> this - Glory got green light in making, so maybe in few years we will also get a chance to play a battle mage or launcher role!

Anyway, MC is great, shamelessly great, I hope more people will read this gem, and rate as high as it deserves! <<less

The book is about an OP gamer's journey back to the top. He was kicked out from his old gaming company and made his own. Not draggy. No romance tho.

Long story short, this novel is unbelievable. I won't get into too much details but if you like gaming, then this novel is just perfect.

No pointless fanservice, well-developed plot, and a fascination with Ye Xiu that just leaves you hanging for more. The side characters aren't one dimensional; all aspects of the story are given ample focus and attention.

As most novels that go beyond the 1000 ch mark, it does get repetitive but its bearable. (Personally, it was around chapter 800+ that I lost interest for a while)

All in... more>> all, give it a shot and this novel can be amazing! <<less

Reivew as of 460. I'm one of those people where ever since I heard the anime had aired, I was interested in seeing what this novel was about. (Haven't watched the anime since I wanted to read the full story more than the current 6+ aired episodes). And after binge-reading these chapters non-stop I am absolutely addicted to this novel. A few points though.

~ No spoilers!

Pros:

... more>> I'm pretty sure that most of these were covered by the other user review here, but here are some of my thoughts:

> Very elaborate designed game and explanation of class's skills and mechanics. I have played a few mmo games myself, but having come to read about the 24 different classes and the way certain characters use them are another thing on its own.

> Very interesting characters, indeed. Each has their own personality, and has at least 1 trait in which sets them apart from everyone else. And unlike other works such as the webtoon Noblesse in which instantly discards a character after a one-time intro and use, some of these characters just keep coming back!

(^ More importantly, Huang Shaotian FTW!? Am I right??)

> Lastly, stemming from the characters themselves which bring us such many hilarious events and battles that occur. Oh so many times. Ye Qiu does deserve to be called a top tier God player in the game as some of the tatics and gaming strategy he employs are simply pure genius! I don't know how many times I laughed my ass off whenever I see his interactions with his enemies and allies.

Cons:

If you're the sort of person where, take any superhero story for instance, wants the hero to reveal their true identity to at least one person in the story - you won't be getting any, anytime soon.

What I'm trying to point out here is that, the entire beginning portion of the novel (~300 chapters) mainly focuses on Ye Qiu's journey of his second coming, which in other words is him grinding his ass off as a new and unique character in the game. So things start to pick up around 300 chapters later for things to get really exciting and kicking-off in terms of plot, in which some readers may not find that entirely exciting. And often in-between where 2 major climatic events of the story are introduced, the story would become really grindy as it continues to show in detail the "adventures of Ye Qiu grinding while tormenting more people!"

(Though currently it stands I'm still only 400 chapters in at this point, so this view will most definitely may change).

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this? If you want a good laugh, but don't mind the story being too grindy a little bit at times, then most definitely for sure! One can always skim over the parts of the story in which drag out during the grind moments after all. Otherwise with how detailed the author makes the game to be from its classes, characters battles etc.. While being able to incorporate some simply hilarious inducing moments - as of yet Butterfly Blue doesn't fail to disappoint! <<less

This seems more realistic compared to other gaming type novels (where the MC is transported into a game world). Ye Xiu is supposed to be like 'gaming god' that people look up to but the way he interacts with other guild leader makes him seem a bit like a scammer hahaha. Really enjoyed this book, even if gaming novels are not my cup of tea.

The one thing that stopped me from reading this novel is the concept. I mean, its just a mouse and keyboard MMORPG game. How can it be any good right? Oh was I so wrong. Once I started I just had to read it to the latest chapter.

Have you dreamt to be someone sooooo freaking awesome at something? If you have, then this novel will surely satisfy your fantasy.

Imagine him, a mighty king, reduced to a simple peasant. And imagine what he will do to reclaim his throne. This super-divine-paragon-high-saint-universe-multi-galactical-presedential-lord-of-Pandemonium... more>> isn't just going to sit and cry. He will return. He will make his comeback.

The plot is awesome. Don't underestimate the setting. This will captivate you. Read It. 5 well deserved star for this. <<less

Imagine a slingshot. In the center of the rubber band put yourself (the reader). Now let it go. At first the speed is terrific. It feels like you might travel to the end of the universe. But after a few seconds the speed drops by a lot until you just roll on the ground thinking only about how to stop faster. In the end, you look back and see you traveled quite a long distance..... for something shot out of a slingshot.

This is my experience when it comes... more>> to this novel, and my guess is that I'm not the only one feeling this way. Reading this novel with the same anticipation as the first, let's say, 50 chapters, requires from the reader two things. First, for him to be an avid gamer, and second, to actually want to implement that kind of lifestyle that the MC has upon himself. Otherwise, everything starts to sound either boring, or repetitive. Still, this novel is a masterpiece. The effort the author put in this novel is huge and I can understand it's popularity. Because of this I give it 4 stars, and encourage anyone to start reading it. <<less

Its a unique novel about games. Its characters are funny and interesting.

Its about dungeon records. Pro pvp scene. Guild strugles within a new server..

The many aspects and little details that is relateable when you plays an mmo is what makes this soo good. While being funny in its own way.

Nice story that brings you into the universe of pro-gaming and a super OP MC who's god at this game and wants to make a comeback after being unjustly banned from his club.

Well, this novel is amazing, read it ^^.

it's a really nice novel. Though I feel it will have trouble developing.
Spoiler

The MC plays unspecialized and that means he is done getting skills at lvl 20. That means that he won't develop anymore, instead others will just get stronger. While he can only rely on his god-like gamer skills.

I will probably pick this up again in a few months.

The story’s great, more importantly the main character is NOT a super arrogant douche like the usual chinese MC that I usually read. Aside from boastful words/tr*sh talk to bait his opponent, Its refreshing and easier to like the MC too. He’s canny, good at thinking ahead, and posses a good long temper...

Spoiler

Other character is quirky and likeable too, like SBI random (and funny) talk...

Also, the fact that many player denies his (shameless but true) claim as the retired God of the game is kind of funny... and few who started to suspect is sweating bullets because God (of the game) has descended!
