In addition, I really liked the "realism". I think when the human race goes extinct, thousands and millions of years later, a new race will rule the world like humans once did but like us they will deplete natural resources, fight between and will therefore lead to their own end, just like humans. The mistakes of the past will inevitably be redone in the future. 🙃

And I really liked the "logic" that we discovered at the end, even if I had guessed it from the beginning of the novel (I won't spoil you anything). 🤫

This quick read reminds me of a story I read before somewhere. It's a version of himself in another timeline. As the world ends he became a spectator of how the world dies and revives.

This one is a quick read that's written and translated well. The story takes the form of vintage science fiction short stories that were popular in the 50s and 60s. You have a buried premise that shapes the story but isn't revealed till the end. The only important elements for this type of story are is it readable, is the hidden premise well hidden and a surprise, does it make you think.

The premise is a little bit of a surprise but nothing that knocks your socks off. It's been done other places more than a few times. Did it make me think? Not really. I remember reading these stories when they were new and have seen this type of thing done far too often. It's much the way a twilight zone episode where they aren't fleeing from earth but to earth could be startling when first aired is now a yawn.

Bottom Line: Not the worst thing to read.
