The first time I realized that I ‘couldn’t die’ was during a practical training exercise in my third year as a hero cadet.

A beast suddenly leaped out of the bushes and tore into my neck.

‘How did I come back to life?’

Yes, I came back to life. I didn’t die.

And now, after hundreds, even thousands of years, I was still alive. Only I had survived.

“But now… it’s finally over.”

After wandering for millennia, I thought I could finally put an end to this long existence…

“Dale! Dale Han! How dare you sleep during my class? You’ve got some nerve, don’t you?”

“…Huh?”

But what awaited me at the end of my long existence wasn’t a period, but a repeat sign.

The other two guys are just sensitive. Torbuh said "why didn't he test it by cutting off his arm instead of doing su*cide?" which clearly shows he wasn't paying attention. His blessing does not activate unless he receives a fatal wound. The only way he could test it was as the other reviewer put it self deletion. This is a guy who resurrects instantly, what the hell is the big deal about him doing something like that? His life is literally worthless, he's got an infinite amount of them. There... more>> is absolutely no reason for him to hesitate to do that.

The other things they mentioned are also mostly minor. First off, the professor he launched was just trying to wake up a student. Do you expect him to be prepared for an attack 24/7? Obviously he got launched, MC wasn't attacking a prepared professor, he was attacking a dude who tried to wake him up. It's also explained that the reason he could even launch him so far is because of the training he has which isn't related to his body... his mana manipulation so to say. He has exceptional control over his mana and knows just how to use it. Also, consider the fact his mana NEVER improved past that in his first life. The amount of mana he had when he launched the professor is the same amount he had when he was at the end of his life. The only difference is how trained his body is, that's it. (And docking the rating for one tiny scene of saying he's glad the love interest is alive in the first few chapters? Really?)

The one complaint I wholeheartedly agree with, and the reason I've given it a 4 myself despite enjoying it, is the memory thing. It's definitely quite absurd how much he remembers and how detailed it all is given he spent literal thousands of years wandering. Even if he spent that whole time reminiscing he wouldn't remember everything. At least in The Tales of an Infinite Regressor the MC has the skill Perfect Memory. <<less

I gave it a 2 cause I didn't like it and wont be reading anymore... but it's probably 3.5ish?

If the story develops it could be something good? The writing/translation seems decent enough.

Saying that.... I'm not on board with a MC who commits self deletion to test if his healing still works. I also think most time travel stories are s*upid. The MC also appears to have done the take over his younger body version of time travel, where his older experienced battle skills make his weak punches strong enough to... more>> launch a trained warrior across the room with zero training or skill/spell enhancement, just plain old bad writing and plot protection.

Also the MC seemingly went through decades maybe even centuries of life before his time travel, and he still remembers stuff from his childhood clear as day... things like his dorm room number and the personal likes for a gift of a female teacher. Some stories cover this by having a knowledge/memory spell or something. but nah, MC just going to follow the overpowered perfect memory route cause... once again plain old bad writing and plot protection. <<less

Academy Simulator

1, 000-year-old man returns to play school with children

Average Regression Plot

... more>> What more needs to be said? That pretty much sums up this novel perfectly.

Pretty much the only thing it has going for it is it has decent character interactions, but since they're all kids, it's still weird.

The MC has lived for thousands of years... not just that, but thousands of years alone, as basically the sole survivor of humanity. Yet, when he regresses, it's almost as if no time has passed at all. He seems to remember everything throughout his entire life and still acts like a kid or maybe a young adult. At least, that's how it feels to me.

Honestly, I want to read about his life before his regression. That'd be 10x more interesting than another academy simulator filled with cliches.

With the MC's memory and skills, the academy is useless and a waste of time. He can't die. The side characters and FL aren't all that interesting or unique. No stakes or surprises. The power system isn't fleshed out (just more mana=better). It's just another copy/paste.

It's boring.

(I don't understand why authors always have the MC regress back to his academy days. It seems like the only reason is because they can gather all his past-life comrades/lovers in one place, which just seems lazy. At this point, the MC is just g*ooming his future lover and power-boosting his friends, teaching them the only things that make them unique... Then there are the professors trying to make him their assistant. I wonder if we'll ever get to the plot...)

The only thing that raises my opinion of this novel a bit is that the MC will literally unalive himself to get stronger and will d*e as many times as needed to defeat an enemy. Like a case of an ant killing an elephant. However, even that will probably go down the drain soon since the FL was introduced and growing close to the MC...

Tl;dr: It's average. Same old formula.

If you REALLY like regression novels that take place in an academy, then you might like this. <<less

Honestly, even with all of the stories that are similar to this I've read, this one is pretty bottom of the barrel.

This story follows the main character, who cannot die and spent around ten thousand (?) years searching for the primordial flame in order to end his existence, since he is so lonely and life isn't worth living. So after finally obtaining the flame, he goes back in time.

Everyone he loves is still alive, and he decides to test whether he can still die by literally committing su*cide. Not like... more>> a test by cutting off his arm or anything, straight up decapitating himself.

I also really hate when regression stories do that thing where they run up to someone they knew in their future and be like "I'm so glad you are still alive" when the person in question has no clue who they are. This happens in this story.

Silly side note: Main character literally eats sh*t in the early chapters to track a monster, and ofc its in front of the love interest <<less

I'm very confused about the reviews who are being weirdly sensitive about MC testing out if he can die.

His power is literally not being able to die. Quite straightforward.

The chapter before describes how MC outlives all of humanity and is searching for the ultimate way to kill himself (spoiler, it did not work) but somehow testing his whether his power still works after is a sensitive subject?

The plot is very predictable but moves along swiftly and smoothly. The MC’s character setting is interesting but it just serves as a disposable hook to reel readers in? It’s disappointing that subsequent character development of the MC doesn’t really tap into his past before regression. MC seems to only retain knowledge of skills gained before regression and zero emotional growth. Despite having lived for hundreds, even thousands of years, his mental age is that of a mature teenage boy or young adult male.
