This short novel was... interesting! Not meant negatively or positively. You know how when you read other novels and there's a moment of a master is telling their disciple a story to pass a lesson? This short novel reads like one of those stories.

It's a very short story between a white snake spirit of the name Bai Su Zhen and her husband, Xu Xian. Some jealously, rivalry, fighting. But all of it is explained in short sentences, brief yet descriptive. It's hard to explain. Really, the best way to explain... more>> it is to say it's much like a master reading to their disciple. It was not bad; but it reads like a swift love story that is passed down for years that everyone knows, like a generic love tale like Snow White or Cinderella.

The translation was good too! Very good, actually. Words and actions were concise. The only issue I had is a personal peeve of mine, when new lines are not created for dialogue and it's all in one big paragraph, but there honestly wasn't enough dialogue in this for me to even been too annoyed by it.

My only issue is really that. Additionally, for it to be a bit longer with a bit more description. Sometimes quick and easy is not always a good thing. <<less
