It tells the love story of a woman who overcomes many trials to become a female official and a general who has weathered many hardships in his road to victory.

Despite being an illegitimate daughter, Mu Zhuohua breaks away from from the path of traditional women during her time as she escapes from her own wedding and enters the capital to seek a position as a female official. In her journey, she meets Liu Yan, a man known as the god of war.

He may have been defeated in battlefield but he does not waver in his resolve as he endures hardships to avenge his grievances. The two may have started out trying to use each other for their own purposes but they eventually join hands in their mission to better the nation, creating a world where women can also enter the court as officials.

Don't miss it, it's amazing!

If you're looking for:

    • A strong FL who strives for her ideal. She is. I was afraid of the "female scholar" because generally, either she hide herself and the novel turn into a FL having to hide her true strength, make concession and fall into a man (ML or not) control for protection and she becomes a canary in a cage ; or we're in a reverse world where women are in power and men in the backyard making the novel no different from classical one because the women's destiny and restrictions are transposed to men and men's domination are changed to women. But no. It's a real government who accept women officials but still have its restrictions on them. It's interesting and our FL is no less fascinating.
    • A good conspiracy. The dynasty has its up and down and the characters an impact on it. I won't say much on this point for fear of ruining the pleasure but I was not disappointed and read it faster than many others (and believe me I've read a lot and I'm hard to please haha)
    • True characters growth and depth. Not only the main couple but every characters in this novel are interesting, good or bad one. I should say they are more gray than black and white and that make them far more realistics. I felt sad for a lot of them, even the true villain, they deserve their end but you can understand why they turned this way. It's just sad because many suffered especially one.

      The Emperor is the pitiest one. His life is full of manipulation and helplessness. He truly is kindhearted but it's never enough and lead to his inevitable death. He's sick and while a lot of characters hope to heal him, they are also the one who let him drown in depression, accelerating his end.
      What I mean is that some like the biggest villain are direct culprits of his condition, forcing him in despression, some want him to heal and know the truth but act as bystanders to avoid spoiling their goals (he's depressed, feels alone and have to bear everything with an already broken body, sharing his burden, and helping him vent would have been real help), others are victims and add to his guilt

    • And finally our main couple! Cute, strong, avant-garde and sweet. I'm not bored to read about their relationship because they are truly made for each other.
So I can only recommand.
