First Arc:

Qin Lou was like a madman from a young age, feared by everyone. Only one person wasn’t afraid and helped him lock away the demons in his heart. Later, the girl became Qin Lou’s first love. And then, the girl died. Qin Lou went even more mad, becoming uncontrollable.

Until a woman who bore a striking resemblance to his first love appeared.

Second Arc:

Ever since Qin Qing became Qin Lou’s assistant, she had to endure daily mockery besides her work:

“President Qin only sees you as a stand-in.”

“You have no idea how much Qin Lou loved Song Shu. Compared to Song Shu, you’re nothing!”

“Being someone’s stand-in, how pitiful you are.”

Qin Qing cooperated well, always lowering her eyes, looking as if she was about to cry.

“It’s okay, I’m willing to endure it. Even if he only loves my face.”

Thus, rumors spread in the venture capital industry, saying that Qin Lou’s assistant was a pitiful stand-in who accompanied him for drinks, chats, and warmth in bed. This finally reached Qin Lou’s ears.

At the Vio annual meeting, in front of everyone, the utterly fed-up Qin Lou pulled Qin Qing into his arms—

Hi. I'm the translator of this novel.

Well, the original title of this novel is "Bite Marks, " but there's already another novel here in NU with the same title and so I had to make up another title so as not to confuse it with that other novel.

There are two arcs in here, when they were children and after Song Shu's supposed coming back from the dead.

I used "The Madman and the Doll" because that's what they dubbed each other as. But Qin Lou is not really crazy, but he... more>> was volatile and hated everyone, to the point of scaring everyone with his crazy actions. These will be explained later on as the causes of these will be revealed later in the story. And Song Shu was his doll because they were young and she was his only companion and support. So I don't think it's really forced because she never posed as anything to him except as his friend and soulmate. Btw, the original title is because she bit him when they were kids and he tattooed that bite mark in his arm to remember her by.

Imagine a lonely orphaned kid (Qin Lou) whose life revolved only around one person, was willing to change for that person and was getting ready to spend his whole life being with that person, then suddenly that person is gone. He wanted to die but her only message left to him is to live.

When she came back and Qin Lou immediately knew who she was and she didn't even give a fight to resist him, it was a predictable outcome to me. Because the purpose of her coming back was not to confuse him, but to rattle the people who arranged her death to panic and reveal some things to get justice. I really don't like stories where people will go around in circles denying things over and over when you already know that truth. And this novel was really straightforward. He knows she has a purpose so he helps her spy in his own company. He never held her back and lets her pretend to be someone else. That's why in the novel summary, he asked her how long she's going to pretend, that will happen in the end to clear up her identity to other people who thought she was a stand-in for his Bai Yuegang the whole time.

first and foremost, the translator did a great job and always appreciate the hard work they put in to make these novels accessible to us.

I had high expectations reading the synopsis however after reading about 27 chapters I had to drop it. The first arc is very short but it lays down a good foundation as far as the FL and ML. I wouldn't say I agree with how the ML is depicted as a madman because there was some scenes where it was borderline cringey teen type stuff vs... more>> serious stuff. The second arc is where I was really let down. I guess I was hoping it be more realistic.

How she comes back, infiltrating the company is very unrealistic. I'm sure they explain how at some point but it just seems very fake to me.

When he recognized her right away. It takes away from the whole "stand-in" plot. I was expecting to see some bitter moments of her unable to do anything to avoid him realizing she was truly Song Shu. But what happens the DAY she joins the company? She reveals through her actions that she is Song Shu. Plus she lets him do as he pleases like hello? The man is touching you, you're supposed to be a different person why don't you act like you don't know him?? It's also pointless for her to continue being a fake, given to how powerful he is, her just telling him the truth would solve everything. But she also wants to take revenge for her mom.

Her personality as Qin Qin is also a major clue of who she really is. She still acts as her true self, very robotic and methodical in her actions. I would have liked it if she did a 180 and acted opposite of who she was as Song Shu. Moreover I don't think she changed her appearance all that much???

maybe I stopped too early to fully gauge the potential of the novel but the points listed above were enough to make me disinterested. Hence I gave it a 3/5. <<less

A wonderful love story with a background of devastating family betrayals. There should have been more insights into the protagonists's parents, how the ML's parents died and his miserable childhood. From very little details into FL's family situation- her father was frighteningly inhuman. I mean abandoning your wife while she was pregnant for another woman!!! What a horrible man.

I like FL childhood personality. She was a very mature and cool girl. ML? Well he is a Madman through and through. But there was the FL infinitely indulging him.

Loved the short... more>> story about the 2 supporting leads as well. She supporting FL had a very remarkable presence in a way that she was able to influence the ML in some crucial life decisions. I like her a lot.

Wish there were more chapters. <<less

The story was well constructed and interesting to read. The romance part was everything. Although their love is a bit twisted. ML is a bit of a yandere. So the title is fitting. FL posing as a doll is bit forced.
