The Main Character Killed The Villain

I became the villainous side character in the “How to be Loved by an S-Class Esper” novel.

I’m the antagonist who bullies the protagonist due to an inferiority complex and ends up dying! I was planning to either run away to avoid death or try to be nice to them….

“Damn it, you’re the one I want to see.”

But then the main character, who used to ignore me as a worthless guide, becomes obsessed with me, saying “Won’t you become my pair guide?

Of course, if you want marriage before that, I’m fine with it.”

The second male lead even tries to seduce me and proposes marriage.

Just how much is this original story going to be destroyed?

And what’s more…. “I killed that annoying bastard.”

What?

I killed the protagonist?!

i just started this but I have to agree with most of the reviews already posted. Each 'villain' quest the main character gets has massive open-ended wording that could be easily manipulated to his advantage if he just thought about it for a few seconds, but he hasn't so far. He's a pushover who lets other people use his belongings and then keeps his mouth shut when they talk sh*t to his face (likely something conditioned in him from his previous life's workplace).

THAT SAID - this is a character with... more>> pretty severe depression (btw: warning for self-harm discussion like in the first chapter, and more later on) who's already in a massive fish out of water situation. Can't say i'd do much better in his shoes. He even stands up for himself one time against one of the as*hole main characters!

i'll probably give this one another shot in the future, but for now i've gotta put it down. <<less

MC is an annoying Marry Sue. He's written like some of those "white lotuses", as in he's too pure and naive to understand whet cheating is. ... more>>
Spoiler

The way he broke up with Hyun Dowoon and then INSTANTLY went to the Shin guy kinda pissed me off.

[collapse]
At one point I wasn't sure if I was reading Yaoi, because of how hyper-feminine he is.

Of course, like any Marry Sue, MC is absolutely OP in the dungeons (despite being a GUIDE), while at the same time being frail and delicate and needing protection (ugh).

MLs fall in love with him instantly with almost (there's some at the beginning, I guess) no romantic development and end up OBSESSED with him. To the point that cheating doesn't seem to bother them anymore. (Basically, we have two typical "obsessed gongs"...)

Through guiding we get backstories of both MLs revealed. Both are somewhat generic and unoriginal.

Villain is one-dimensional "green tea" kind of character. At one point, I actually found myself rooting for him.
Spoiler

If you look at tit objectively, he is actually Shin guy's official partner. Although he tries to sabotage MC's and Hyun guy's relationship (it might as well be because he needs MC for his guiding or because he feels threatened and doesn't want MC to form more connections), he REMAINS FOCUSED on Shin guy. Plus, I feel like he's the only person in this entire text, that actually attempts to use their brain...

[collapse]

SUMMING UP, it's boring, immature, Mary Sue novel with unintelligent, unlikable characters. Everything happens in Guideverse, so there's little to no world building. Read only if you have nothing better to do. <<less

I love guideverse stories and this one fits well into the genre. There's a bit of mobile game muchkin added but it's reasonable for now.

The protagonist has a novel psychology, actually depressed and not in a pretty way. So beware for those who want happy go luck main characters.

The secrets are hinted at for now and I want to know everything.

The story started strong, but I lost interest due to a poorly developed villain that undermined the mystery. The focus on the main character's indecision between the original male lead and the second male lead became frustrating. The second male lead is clearly a better choice, yet the narrative drags on with the main character's dilemma. Additionally, the redemption arc feels unconvincing.

I don't write reviews but here we are.

The MC'S constant need for following everything the system asks of him to do, even though he realises that it's detrimental to his well being in a foreign place is baffling to me. It's crazy how he finds out the mission, knows EVERY SINGLE THING that could go wrong, thinks about how he is always bullied and neglected, how he needs to take charge, how if he choses to not do what the system says (no penalties btw) he will not be pitted... more>> by the author and the audience AND HE STILL CHOSES TO DO THE MISSION???!!! Like I legitimately thought like 3 times "yep. This is it. This is where he will take the initiative." and boom. He follows the mission.

Sigh. That said, I think it's a good blend of videogame elements with guideverse but I'm not too familiar with the guideverse tbh so I could be wrong.

Definitely a pretty okay read, unless if you are triggered by this specific kind of MC like me.

PS- the vote was a mistake, I meant to put 3.5 ✌🏻 <<less

Interesting plot dampened by a frustrating MC and just OK writing.

From beginning to end the MC is an underwhelming gloomy airhead. He's incredibly OP... on paper. In practice, he's quite useless. He gets very little done and has to be hand held by the system and the ML's to accomplish even that little bit. His abilities never really get a chance to shine and he's so frustratingly dense.

I enjoyed the plot enough to finish the story but by chapter 50 I was skimming a lot of it. Read if... more>> you don't mind dumb protagonist and want to read something simple. Decent light read. <<less

The reader knows a lot more than the protagonist. To make it worse, the MC is slow and ignores all hints to the source of his problems. This makes it a chore to read. Prepare to take breaks from this novel. But so far persevering was worth it. Good story, good translation.

This one is f*cked up! At first I was really excited but even before this chapter I was already frustrated with the MC! It's all unclear and jumping around. The author tries to make that the decisions MC made because he (og) is depressed, lacks affection and so on so he is like that. It was that easy for him to move on from Hyun Dowoon and then move on to Shin Haejun, like wtf?!

His emotions aren't working, are they?! I mean at the beginning of the story he was... more>> really hurt by Shin Haejun, then he easily forgave him?! I think what Dowoon did was easier to forgive than Haejun's behavior. MC is really s*upid🙄 <<less
