“Foodie + rebirth + whole group’s darling + real or fake rich lady + brainless villain”

The pure and silly little foodie Ye Jinmeng discovered that her new roommate was very unfriendly towards her. Having watched many Mary Sue dramas, Ye Jinmeng thought: could this be a villainess? But as long as she doesn’t steal my food, I don’t care how she acts.

Until later, Ye Jinmeng finally realized that she herself was the villainess…

Xu Wanwan discovered that the enemy who had destroyed her entire family in her previous life was actually living in the same dorm room as her. Having been reborn, her anger meter was instantly maxed out.

But who could tell her, how could this piglet be so knowledgeable about food?

Shi Shuning: In my wife’s eyes there is only food, not me. I feel wronged.

He Junting: ? You feel wronged compared to me? As long as your wife is around, my wife can’t even see me…

This is all my personal experience. You may enjoy the book more or less than me. Take everything I say with a grain of salt as my own personal preferences may differ from yours.

Read this all in one sitting while in the mood for a cute comedic story. It had some moments but honestly my lower rating is probably also due to some tags I would have preferred to be on this.

I don't usually write reviews but I feel this may be a fair warning to some people who might... more>> be expecting only fluff and sweetness, as I also didn't see any mentions of these in other reviews (if I missed it, I'm sorry orz)

Also my understanding of things that should be tagged may differ from the majority of this site, so again, take it with a grain of salt.

Spoiler

r*pe and potentially Depictions of cruelty should have been tagged in my opinion.

It was a bit jarring to read this and then suddenly they find a mu*derer in the amusement park? I'm not usually too bothered by this in novels, but I was not prepared for this as it wasn't tagged and I assumed this would be a fairly lighthearted story. Then we find out the victim is a young girl who was tortured and r*ped before she died. And then we find out the mu*derer is also her biological father who wanted revenge on her mother.

There are a few other scenes that made me double check if I just missed the tags or if there was a warning the reviews, but the young girl was the most memorable to me. Later a character mu*ders his wife and while its not described in detail, the book mentions that her corpse was then cut up into pieces to flush down the toilet, bury in the forest and so on.

Most of these scenes aren't too very long in my memory, but again, it was just really jarring. The author probably meant for it to be this huge shocking thing, and oh my goodness these people are horrible and s*upid and obsessed with their own interests, but to me it didn't come across as well executed.

[collapse]

I think it's fine if you want a brainless story to read, but there may be some sensitive content that people wouldn't be prepared for based on the tags. But thats just my personal opinion ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

Aside from not expecting those scenes, I'd say this story is between a 2 or a 3 but I don't know if I can give half ratings? Its nothing special, I mostly treated it as a time killer as I had nothing to do all day. To me, it wasn't a masterpiece nor was it anything super unique, but I did like that the girls became very close as opposed to the usual white lotus and backstabbing sisters you see often. <<less

I usually like novels like these.

Translation is good, the only thing I dont like is the child-like one dimensional character ye jinmeng. I think she's supposedly 18 yrs old on the current timeline, but I'm cringing and getting goosebumps so bad from the way author portrayed her, she's like a 13 yrs old and not 18.

I just can't continue reading it. Don't mind my review seriously, you might like the story if you want fluffy stuff and innocent characters.

This one just didn't click with my preference.

I liked the idea of the story. I also don't have a deep problem with any of the characters, but I also find them very generic and the whole story telling is so random. Some events don't even make sense. You switch POVs often. Sometimes it makes sense for example to get the idea what the villans are planing and then you switch and the two paars of lovers are eating and get food poisoning. I just stopped after this. I don't expect the story to make deep sense and... more>> teach me something, but some events make no sense (maybe later and I gave up to fast, but I doubt it) and the romanic part sucks. Never read any dumber relationship progress. There is so much weird storytelling, but my biggest problem is, that I am at around half of the story and I have no idea, where the story is going, which would be okay, if the writing is great, but it isn't. I would recomend to use your time to read a better story. <<less

I actually liked the premise. There were two (2) female leads. Xu Wanwan (OG Female Lead) and Ye Jinmeng (OG Villainess), in this life they became friends.

Tbh, it didn't bother me that Ye Jinmeng being innocent and pure child-like attitude. It added to her charm and able to win Xu Wanwan's heart.

The only cons I saw were author kept adding plot twists, some details were all around the place and leads ending up being magnet for troubles.

Spoiler

The author could have stick on OG Villainess changing bc she's receiving love from family... instead of plot twist that she's just a transmigrator who lost her memories. The essence of 1st few chapters should remained on possible parallel universe.

Also, the additional details about Ye Jinmeng being lost child of Xiao family due to family conflict was kinda badly executed.

Leads getting trouble especially Ye family numerous times that it felt repetitive.

A bit of cuteness but quite flat story.

It's a sweet story but gets a bit boring because of length. The twist is quite good at the start, just wish the characters were written a bit better.

I would rate this higher if the characters weren't so naive and s*upid.

Spoiler

The female lead going to class KTV hangout despite not actually wanting to socialize with others and carelessly just accepting drinks. She also was oblivious on why she could've been targeted when she should've known already. It'd be one thing if she was supposed to be dense, though that still would be frustrating but no, she was just conveniently dense when the plot calls for it to insert bloody drama.

[collapse]

Highly dissatisfied with the first big climax point putting aside the premise, the characters felt like they were dumbed down, it also felt like serious topics were just jokes with how it was handled.

Spoiler

Upon finding the drug culprit and finding out that the bar they run was pretty much a drug then where they'd slipped drugs with customers to take advantage of others, mostly girls probably as the victims ñ. The police only said that the boss was gonna be away in jail for just some years. So, is illegal drug not taken seriously in China? Or was the author just being loose about it? Either way, horrid.

It also seems that the culprit's family is just gonna get away Scot free and forgotten about, with fun being the first agenda right after such a big case. Yuck.

[collapse]

If that was how the first big climax was handled, not looking forward to the rest.

If they stayed silly, it would have been fine but since they tried to put serious elements into it but not take it seriously enough, what a joke. <<less

The female leads are switched and pretty much follows every storyline, but instead of hating each other, they become sworn sisters. How can they not when one is an innocent foodie. Nobody can resist a foodie. There is a lot of other drama and near misses, but everything works out in the end. It was a good quick read.

Generally quite a wholesome story, and one unique thing I loved here was how they shared the info about the parallel universe with their loved ones when there was a need for it. I loved watching xu wanwan heal from her past life's scars, and how the cute ye Jinmeng changed her views. The sis-mance was great, romance was okay but kinda meh. I liked their childhood friend group and how they would protect one another, as well as the caring and loving family. The naïveté of the FL bored... more>> me out sometimes, but still, this was a pretty okay read, I don't get why the rating was 3.3 <<less
