Chu Ruochun was born in a Heavenly Master sect with serious infighting. He became a victim of the infighting and died unexpectedly. He was reborn on the body of a draft star who was caught in a framing storm. If he wants to survive in this world safely, the first thing he needs to do is to solve the current problems.

So, he opened the live broadcast room to face the netizens who scolded him.
Netizen: You said you didn’t hit your roommate. What’s the evidence?
Chu Ruochun pointed his chin at the camera, raised the corners of his eyebrows slightly, and smiled like a spring breeze: “In three minutes, the evidence will appear.”

Netizens didn’t believe it, and scolded non-stop for three minutes in the live broadcast room. Three minutes later… – The draft star Chu Ruochun finally got out of the entertainment circle, and the black fans celebrated him by posting him on the trending searches.

Not long after, they discovered that although Chu Ruochun had left the entertainment circle, he often saw hot searches related to him. Not only did he not fade out of the entertainment circle, but he became even more popular! Today he is holding hands with a top male celebrity, tomorrow he will look into the eyes of that actor, and the day after tomorrow he will cuddle with a certain business tycoon… All fans: Garbage! Don’t rub our brother’s traffic! How shameless! Hello, does anyone care about him? When the fans of all the families were eager to kick Chu Ruochun out of the earth, all the stars immediately sent an apology to him on Weibo!

My heart is full of bitterness: Do you know how hard it is for me to say a word to him! ?

Feng Qi, the double film emperor, is the son of the Feng Family the metaphysics family. However, he is an alien in the metaphysical world. He can’t divine and catch ghosts. Even though his body is often heavy and cold, and he has bad luck, he still insists on believing in science. Until he met Chu Ruochun. The other side’s long white fingers crossed his eyes, and the warm and soft breath wrapped him: “Mr. Feng, what do you see now?” Feng Qi opened his eyes. Very, very good, the world outlook that has been adhered to for more than 20 years was immediately smashed!

Later, there was a rumor circulating in the entertainment industry: Listening to Master Chu’s words is better than reading for ten years. When the reporter interviewed Chu Ruochun, he smiled: “I’m not so divine. I just like to study traditional Chinese culture, and we should believe in science.”

It was a great read! MC and ML are both strong and mysterious. Their relationship seems not so healthy for a normal person but it's understandable because of what they've been through in the past.

Spoiler

I kinda liked the plot twist where in the flashback MC became a real antihero for ML. This made the whole story more vivid and tangible

I was just a little disappointed with the brevity of the narration. In my opinion, it'll be better for author to write 20-30 more chapters.

Spoiler

And I'm itching to know the fate of a paper person from the love show in which MC and ML were filmed

Normally, this genre is one of my favourites but this one just couldn't scratch my itch. It started off as something light-hearted and while there was some foreshadowing, it didn't ready me for the plot twist that hit me in the face nearing the end. And it wasn't the kind of plot twist I like. Good plot twists make you think back and go "wow, I did not see this coming but everything makes so much sense, why did I not think of this before?". Bad plot twists make you... more>> think "where did this come from? Why is this happening? This just created so many plotholes!".

This story suffers from the latter.

I do not like the pacing of this story. It feels very much like the author couldn't quite decide on what they wanted from this story. They certainly did not handle the mysteries well. There were way too many plotholes, the characterisation was fine but the romance was very lacking. There was a complete lack of physical intimacy (two hugs, not a single kiss, ML feeds MC with his own fork once), which is not bad, but normally if the emotional aspects are lacking then the presence of physical intimacy at least explains why it is tagged as yaoi or shounen ai.

I simply do not feel any chemistry between them. There is love, sure, but their love feels more like the familial kind. In fact, I felt like there was more chemistry between them before the plot twist happened. After the twist, the flavour of the story changed, it became very weird and their romance evaporated into the air. Their love probably increased but that love was the kind I normally associate between close friends or brothers.

The ending was very abrupt. Some details were so confusing and I'm unsure if it was a problem with the translation or it was the same in the og text. For example

In the beginning everybody, especially the police is leery of "feudal superstitions". Talking about mystical stuff, especially if you're a celebrity or a civil service officer, is frowned upon. Then suddenly there's a special police department dealing with mystical cases and there are sect exchange conferences that are livestreamed?

The MC originally claims to be confused about why and how he reincarnated but then nearing the ending we find that he knew everything all along and was actually the mastermind behind many mysterious things, including the reincarnation?

The MC was locked in the ghost cave by his senior brother when he was 19, died when he was 19, and also spent 10 years in the ghost cave inventing new arrays and exploring the cave? And that was 10 years ago? But he's almost the same age as the ML who's 29? I'm sorry, the math ain't mathing. Sometimes it's that "the ghost cave opened 10 yrs ago, Feng Qi was in college" and sometimes it's "the ghost cave opened 20 years ago and Feng Qi was a school student". The timeline is an absolute mess.

Why was the MC so attached to that peach blossom sword? Why did the entire arc just disappear without making any splashes other that foreshadowing about Feng Qi's op-ness?

I have so many freaking questions and this novel just did not deliver. It was a disappointment tbh.

The translations were mostly fine but the translator had a big problem with translating negations. It completely changed the meaning of a sentence sometimes and you had to depend on your own logical thinking to know that there was supposed to be a 'not' in the sentence somewhere. The story and the plot was mediocre and the confusing infodump which happened out of tbe blue did not make anything better.

Read this only if you have nothing else to read and you need your fix. <<less

The novel has a big issue... it basically slaps you in the face with the plot twist/reveal at the end. Like, barely any foreshadowing before it all gets dumped on you. Before like the last 10 chapters, it was showbiz+exorcist+face slapping. Last ten chapters? Exorcism + romance. Honestly, the ending wasn't bad, but I was dissatisfied because of how the author didn't set it up well. Being predictable isn't always good, but man... give us something at least. Lots of reviews here basically agree with this, haha.

The romance was pretty... more>> mid because it happened all at the end. The author didn't do much with it anyways. If you want romance, I wouldn't really pick this novel. I think the showbiz/exorcism part is pretty decent and worth reading if you want that. I didn't get bored during it although some bits were a bit random. The last 10 chapters weren't the greatest, but finishing them was fast so I went for it.

Overall, not bad for a short novel if you brace yourself for the plot twist/reveal that slaps you in the face hard near the end. Pre-plot twist/reveal was pretty solid for a quick read.

The characters weren't that interesting, but I do appreciate how blunt the MC was in the showbiz world, haha. The ML started off annoying, but his reactions to the MC's quirkiness were realistic and he got over it quickly. Quite a bit of illogical moments / wonky worldbuilding but I had fun reading most of it. <<less
