One of the more infuriating and cliche types of face slapping novels. Everyone so far (except a minor handful) seems to have the memory of a goldfish and their trust in MC is flaky despite getting proven wrong multiple times 🥱 It sometimes gets tiring reading the same song and dance. I'm pointing especially at the real Yu daughter, Du Ziheng and You Bingyue who can't seem to stop themselves lol

The chapters get slightly more interesting once MC starts her new job as an official, investigating and solving old cases

If... more>> you're looking to get mad at something or want to read some fools get face slapped, this could be a nice read for you

Plot-wise, MC's not progressing much in her original goal of living a carefree life. If anything, she's living about the same type of life as previously but with a higher level of authority. I love her best friend Hongluan who cares for and guides MC with her modern insights

While it'snot blatantly mentioned that Hongluan is a modern transmigrator, she brings out modern cuisines and talks about modern culture via a "distant country"

Alright. I will admit this novel drew me in at first. It is a very cliche story of rebirth but everything is cliche nowadays. Now, the problem starts when the story starts to go nowhere. No matter what the female lead does, it's like everybody in the entire universe is dumb and has zero IQ and hasn't been paying attention.

200 chapters later, we have the same exact people doubting her abilities. It is absolutely ridiculous.

The whole storyline with her husband is also ridiculous. Any time there's conflict, the female lead conveniently "doesn't want to bother with s*upid people" and so nothing get resolved. It's just useless faceslapping and it doesn't even feel cathartic.

I will only recommend this if you want to waste your time. Oh well. <<less

Even though it's still early to make a review, but I just want to let this out from my chest. The flow of the novel was stagnant, since MC has one goal and that is to lived worry free, she didnt care about her tr*sh of a husband. But she still crave for warmth of a person, glad she has good parent in laws who believed her, even so, she act she had no attachment but just keeping tags with them, which is sad. But I cant blame her after... more>> what she had gone through to master her abilities. Things are as it should be, she never bother to make a big change other than protecting herself. That is why her husband is tr*sh and she deserved better.

MC has goals but surviving was a top priority when there are constant conflict from same old enemies. It's like, in every conflict was frankly provoke her who just minding her own business and collecting merit. She only wanted to watch gossip but got involved instead. Because of how brain dead the villains in making trouble. <<less

Apart from the villains being repetitive and always following the same pattern and the FL ex husband being quite annoying, the novel is actually quite well written with layers of mystery unfolding. I quite like the FL despite being OP and a 2nd choice Mary Sue. Nearing 400 chapters and no trace of a ML yet. I sincerely hope author is not planning to ship her back with her ex husband. The romance tag probably needs taking out as 400 chapters in and there's nothing for the main character. There might be something later on but mostly this seems to be revenge/cultivation novel.

The first 400 or so chapters are living in the regular historical world. After that it seems like there will be a move to the cultivation world.

I'm really enjoying it. It got a little repetitive for a bit then it changed things up. There are multiple reincarnators and transmigrators. I enjoyed the main character's friendship with one of her... more>> female friends (a transmigrator). I also liked that while it was a revenge style novel the protagonist is cool and detached. She doesn't go after people but trips people up who go after her or innocent people.

I'm caught up to the current chapters I can find but I'll definitely seek this one out again to read more when they're available. A translation of the novel would be really valuable as the places I've found it online (in Chinese) seem to have some of the chapters mixed up (happens twice, one around 388? And again around 400-410s).

It's fine. Just feels a little aimless, and since it's still ongoing, that means its just as likely to go for another 100 chapter as another 1000. So I stopped for now.

Now something that actually got annoying on this, are the antagonist. It's the most braindead gallery one can find. S*upid, petty, and with zero self preservation. I read to chap 382, and besides the new villain-of-the-week additions, are the same cannonfodder from the beginning of the novel, insisting of getting slapped down again and again. Enough times that you... more>> kinda wish the protagonist would give them a more permanent lesson. <<less

Honestly, there's a good amount of stereotypical face-slapping drama. A repititous routine plays out-- villain provokes our FL, the FL retorts, someone misunderstands, FL proves herself righteous, the villain storms out in a fit. It's almost word for word.

(TBH I don't totally mind it, some mindless face-slapping can be pretty great. Sometimes you just wanna read about a HBIC being the HBIC.)

BUT there's enough other elements in the plot to make it intriguing nevertheless. The FL is definitely overpowered and has utterly divine skills, but there's some interesting... more>> character development for her and lots of other background pieces that have me curious and willing to push through the repetition. Where I've read to (c.100) has things poised to expand to include more settings and variety than the initial setup chapters.

I think this is a fun read to be enjoyed in smaller sittings-- maybe don't try to binge it to avoid burnout, and you could really enjoy yourself! Thanks to the translation team for their work on this! <<less
