I'm dropping this novel. It just isn't what I'm looking for. The uninteresting parts are unnessecarily long-winded and somehow the storytelling bores me and just doesn't catch my interest.

Although women have their own character, the author drips with sexism everytime a girl appears, mentioning their looks so often I'm fed up with it, saying stuff like "When girls say no, they are playing hard to get." (figuratively) "Girls take long to change clothes, the more beautiful the girl, the longer they take." "If you wanna get in a girls' pants,... more>> do that in that. Play that and that role and girls will think you attractive." (figuratively) Really, it feels like women are v*gina on two legs who can talk and think in this novel.

I've read Great Demon King and enjoyed it, there sexism and the objectivication of women is comparatively harmless.

Adding good ol' nationalism, it has been hinted that ancient high elvish, who nobody understands anymore, is in fact chinese. It has also been said the radiant god of light or how he's called looks familiar to the protagonist, my gut is telling me some historic chinese figure went and became a god and the guardian of the human race in this novels' lore. <<less

The author basically just took sentences and plot points from other novels and put them together in a boring and unstructured way, he obviously doesn't understand storytelling and just wants to make a popular novel by copy-pasting other popular novels.

An interesting novel worth reading if you don't have nothing else to read. I will point out a few elements that will help you to understands if it's for your taste.

-LIGHT TRASMIGRATION VALUE

The MC is a transmigrator from another world but it's not "relevant". His personality is in line with the different world (he kills and sacrifice people without blinking an eye). Overall the MC doesn't seems to value life, he is rutheless and cunning.

The only useful trasmigrator value is the knowledge about vampires that are unknown in the new... more>> world.

The management of the territory is lightly influenced by his previous world knowledge (for now).

-ARMIES FIGHTS

The novel is all about armies fights. There are not many fight 1vs1 with the MC.

The MC has some supernatural powers and he is technically strong but his indivual strength is not important; his wits and strategy in using resources are the main focus.

- MISTERIES AND POLITICAL INTRIGUES

Overall the most interesting point in the story are the mysteries about gods, MC power origin and the political schemes.

The MC is involved accidentally in a political fight because of some misunderstandings and because he wants to solve the issue about his assassination. In order to survive he starts to develop his power and influence and starts to interact with indivuals, families and organizations that wants to size more power or pursue ravange.

Also the MC power is something related to god and there seems to be some prophecy about a chosen one or somenting which is probably the MC. <<less

So when I started this novel I didn't have high hopes but MC doesn't have a system giving him stuff and doesn't know the plot because he read the novel/watched the show in previous life. So this goes way up in my opinion. As for plot kind of generic war novel. With hints of learning vampire powers lazily sprinkled in.

Starts off rather silly, the MC just assumes he's a vampire because of his precieved immortality and tries to go through the motions of figuring out what kind of vampire he thinks he is for the first few chapters. Then some plot and world building kicks off and the novel turns into a pretty standard war chronicle drama with basically no vampire stuff other than the MC constantly implying if things go bad he will just fake being dead until that arc ends and a new one begins. I have read 21 chapters. So far, this story is way above average:

    • Characters are have agendas, different view points, and clashing interests.
    • Characters can be smart, make mistakes, or do dumb stuff. All in character, considering emotions and background.
    • There is a society. There are mentions of cities and factions, which influence the story.
    • It has a strong start, with some intrigue and tension
    • Translation quality is good
    • World building is standard fantasy
    • No isekai, xiaxia, or korean hunter tropes.
If quality doesn't go down, this novel might become popular. I recommend to have a look, or bookmark until more is translated. I give it a 4.5

Edit: this is more of a 4, the troll war arc is shaping meh.

A story about a noble that is a vampire in a world without vampire.

MC is smart (for an MC, so basically a little smarter than an average guy) and a little cold blooded. He has however a bottom line.

This novel had some decent potential, unfortunately though, it didn't live up to it. The story just had way too many overly complicated plots and annoying plot twists that didn't hold any real value. The author just keeps adding different events/actions and gets sidetracked so many times, it makes the story so diluted and unfocused. A ton of characters that you would think will actually become semi/important characters or side characters are, although sometimes mentioned, usually forgotten. A few characters did have depth into them, but most were either not... more>> used to their full potential or downgraded into mediocrity. The romance in this novel is a little bland and half of the MC's love interests had a few chapters at most and the plots goes on. Sure, his lovers and other underused characters may come up in later chapters, but I've lost interest in them already and I don't believe it will be able to save the novel. Moreover, the fact that the MC was a vampire and the author didn't really utilize it as well as it could've been kinda disappoints me.

Could've been a great novel, but couldn't find what it wanted to be: 2.4/5 <<less

Hi everyone,

I hesitated to read this novel due to bad reviews, I'm happy to have tried because it's a good read.

What is the MC : a lucky Vampire but first and foremost an opportunistic gu... vampire, I mean he's bright but not a genius, why ? because he can make mistakes, ... more>>

The others characters are cold blooded, hot blooded, loyal, backstabbing b*stards, gullible... so they are quite different from each other.

As for the some other reviews I want to clear some misconceptions :

The fact that he is a bad womanizer is right (far from the point of feeling "like women are v*gina on two legs who can talk and think" like written by a colleague reviewer), but it's never shown that it's the right way to interact with women,

, so it's a flaw in his character but... do you prefer a human (or vampire here) MC which can make mistakes and can have a few flaws or do you prefer the perfect guy according to you which do everything you want him to ? (I have the feeling that it's a question which need to be raised these days since lots of persons seems to want the "perfect" Mc).

It's intriguing, does do its best to flesh out a decent background, plot and characters even if its somewhat confusing with the multiple plots, twists which are somewhat convoluted for a relatively basic motive.

Oddly there's quite little vampire aspect involved other than the MC utilizing some vampiric ability in combat (mostly just his immortality) and creating a few s*aves here and there. Very underdeveloped here. The magic is also lackluster, with the most powerful spells used so far able to kill the strongest class of warrior but the rest of... more>> the magic is so glossed over in EVERY battle.

Wouldn't mind if the plot moved faster with less chapters focusing on a little plot twist or just filler material. Lets see how the next 200 chapters go. <<less

It's isn't a complex story but for what's worth it. Is a good read. I have to add that I'm a sucker for this plot types however, the author has balanced well the story components so it doesn't turn into an eyesore or drags out an specific device, something that's has make me drop a forgotten number of novels in the past.

I enjoy it.

Very good story, The MC is fantastic, the author so far tries not to make a surreal story and always maintains expectations of what is going to happen, I hope it continues that well.

I like it so far, the MC is an relatable human, with an above average intelligence. He's neither good, nor evil, he's mostly cool headed, he's also arrogant, selfish, manipulative, and coldblooded, human traits.

read the first two volumes (1-93 is volume 1, 94-163 is volume 2) using MTL

the story is pretty slow and never really goes anywhere but the action sequences are fine and I'm a sucker for war chronicles so

the original chinese synopsis said "PS: the main plot of this book is lords fighting for domination, the identity of a vampire is just a golden finger that can be continuously developed" but I guess the translator dropped that part because eventually MC does start seriously flexing his vampire powers later in volume... more>> 2 <<less
