Was this punishment the result of her having read too many little picture books about elves in her past life?

This time, she was fully immersed—actually turned into an elf herself…

“So yeah, I really can’t bring myself to like you arrogant pointy-eared types.”

“My dear little sister, say no more. I understand everything.”

“I told you already—I’m not your sister’s reincarnation!!”

Theresa was utterly hopeless.

Coincidentally dabble into this novel knowing this being from the same author that wrote Knight and Vampire. I can say the world building of this novel is decent enough although I am quite not into the kind of bloodline supremacism. MC is rather quite smart and her interaction with other female protags is interesting. The story keeps me locked in for a whole day just to reach chapter 123. But if you expect some kind of novels depicting glorious or detailed action scene, don't hold much hope for it. This... more>> novel is more about mysteries involving MC's background and the history of the whole Elf race.

Spoiler

So basically, MC has two forms, one male one female (although I suspect the female form is the original one). The downside is how I don't like the female identity forcefully affect our MC's train of thoughts or actions, it can be fleshed out much more naturally but since it is a novel from this author, I don't expect highly. Considering this novel depicts a bloodline supremacist world and our MC's female identity is that of an elf warlord from millenniums ago, the jump in power scale feels reasonable enough. And the gacha system our MC has is sh*t as f***, no SR guaranteed every 10 pulls. As a gacha game player, I condemn this thing!!!!!!!!

In conclusion, this novel is worth your attention, has some potentials. I would recommend you giving it a try. <<less

The premise of the story is definitely intriguing, but the execution leaves much to be desired. The author introduces a potentially interesting twist with the MC being able to "transform" back into their male self, but it feels oddly restricted, limiting the character’s potential. The constant slandering of the MC's other self also seems like an unnecessary burden, adding frustration rather than depth.

The power levels are confusing, especially with the "chosen one" trope, and the MC's motivations shift abruptly, leaving you with more questions than answers. Despite the flaws, the... more>> story has some redeeming qualities—like the unique take on elf superiority and decent action scenes—but ultimately, it felt like a 3-star read that didn’t quite live up to its potential. I had to drop it, hoping the author would expand on important details. <<less

The novel possessed a rather recycled feel to the initial premise, with an essentially male protagonist with a 'genderswap switch', with the other side being described to be an almost separate personality, along with the trope of 'refusal to accept new identity' that I have personally come to find mildly infuriating with how common it is.

It is extremely similar to another novel by the same author, with a 'superior race' being viewed as oppressive and/or arrogant by humans, i.e. substitute vampires for elves whilst keeping the prejudices. The novel doesn't... more>> really differentiate much from other novels similar to this, but so far the read has been quite satisfying, with some proper pitfalls rather than the often seen magical power sweeping in to nullify any potentially losses at a 'critical moment'

Quite decent, not the best, but far from the worst.

Edit: Seems like the reason I've grown increasingly tired to this type of gender bender is because of the multiple other titles released by the author... With an almost exact same formula but a different species. They're generic but I can't drop them... <<less

Novel completed, it have it's good and bad but feels like something is missing or a bit forced that makes it not as enjoyable as it should be.

Story :

It's about someone who reincarnated after being hit by a truck on another world with lives that's bad but then somehow he can transform into a different self. At first I thought the story was underwhelming (as in not up to my taste of novel) but after pushing through the chapter it's not as bad as I thought and even feel like... more>> it's very good, sadly that I feel like the chapter later on was a bit forced or fast paced not sure because of the author is sick or because of other circumstances that I do not know. It's still a decent novel overall the pacing early on feels perfect even if later on it feels very fast forwarded? (Not sure the correct term is) while for the atmosphere, and world building I can't say much of a problem with how author potrayed it. Warning though that the story have some bad? No like a lot of sultry word used that's probably not good to know if you're a kid
Spoiler

but it's ok if you read a lod of doujin and like those kind of things

.

Character :

This is probably my biggest gripe about this novel since it's about a boy that can also become a girl anytime at first it have a decent balance on how the boy and also girl separate and also not separate life was characterized
Spoiler

but by later part somehow the boy side was completely severed like it doesn't matter which was confusing but also seems rushed

. Other than MC there feels like 2/3? Heroine which is the someone who he saved before that still have feeling even though separated, a girl who was a rival but then become teammate, and a sister? Other than the MC and Heroine there's a side character but not a lot that's really become part of the story and touched upon there's like 3 which is kinda told in the story but not entirely which is not bad persay but could have been touched upon more. Overall character wise I'm not entirely sure if it's good or bad, more so neutral by the end of the story but it's my opinion take it with a grain of salt.

Art :

It have some illustration that's posted and can be seen, the quality itself is very good and probably what I feel best about the novel.

Overall :

It's not a bad novel to read and enjoy to past the time, this novel wouldn't be your best one at least imo (could be wrong) but it will be a good read.

I have read this story raw for more than 100 chapters. It is safe to say that the author has created an interesting premise.

However, the execution still is very lackluster. "Well, how do I give the MC a big background and make him/her powerful but at the same restrict her ever so tightly that she can't even utilisze any of that". And that's what the author did.

Light spoiler alert: The MC can "transform" back to his old male self. (Its more of an illusion than a real transformation). This is... more>> fine by itself but what masochist would be okay to hear others slander his other self right in front of her?

The power levels are also messed up. The whole chosen son or daughter is very hard to understand. The MC's motivations are also not clear. Initially, he just wanted to remain in the academy but that changed very quickly.

Although, I am ranting as if there is nothing good about the story which is clearly wrong. The story has a good premise. The elf superiority complex as shown in the story is a breath of fresh air from the usual "humans are bad" cliche. The action scenes though long are decent.

Overall, it was a 3 star for me but I had to drop it at this point. I hope that the author fleshed out a lot more details. <<less

Heads up, it's one of those ones where it's actually just a male protagonist. Y'know, the ones where they get genderbent but then immediately gain the ability to turn back into a man and then spend the whole time being a dude.

Tbh. Why can't someone just write a character that goes "I'm a cute girl?? OH HECK YEAH FINALLY" The whole giving poor cis guys dysphoria trope is kinda unpleasant, you could just as easily write curing it instead.
