In a world where 40% of humanity awakens to unique abilities.

Magical beasts and dungeons are everywhere, making the adventurer profession one of the most lucrative paths.

Sasha, the leader of the team Sacred, was on the brink of being promoted to S-Rank Adventurer.

On the same day, another person was also confirmed to achieve S-Rank—a boy named Haise.

Haise was once a member of Sacred, an F-Rank adventurer who had been expelled from the team by Sasha.

Possessing an unusual ability, Haise struggled to understand its nature. Misunderstood and abandoned by his childhood friend Sasha, he was cast out of the team under the pretense that “Haise couldn’t keep up”.

The true reason behind his expulsion was Sasha’s desire to protect him—she didn’t want Haise to die while adventuring.

However, Haise refused to give up. Even on his own, he worked tirelessly to continue his journey as an adventurer.

One day, Sasha deceived Haise into venturing into a forest inhabited by a dragon, where he was nearly killed.

Betrayed by the trust he had placed in Sasha, Haise vowed never to believe in her again and resolved to grow stronger as an adventurer on his own.

At 16, both Haise and Sasha were recognized as S-Rank adventurers. Haise sought to become the strongest adventurer alone, while Sasha aimed to be the best alongside her companions.

This is the story of two childhood friends who once walked the same path but diverged onto separate journeys—paths that might one day cross again.

I'm glad many people think like me....i mean you didn't have to exiled him to begin with, you can just assign him easy mission to let him study more about his power, but they choose s*upid decision and hail the "nececasry evil" mentality... and the FML realize her mistakes but didn't get it to her heart and understanding it..... the ML is cringe at everything even how he process his hatred, he could just being indifferent to his ex party, that's the masterpiece revenge. And yet he is consciously helping... more>> his ex-party gain fame and many things.... <<less

After reading 52 chapters, I think I have to agree with some of what Regulus12 said on his review.

When you read the synopse of this novel, you think this is another generic banishment story, and indeed, this is not far from the truth. Overall, this is a generic banishment story, but, because it does have some unique aspects, it turns out to be much better than most of it's "siblings".

The first thing that make it stand out is how the author tell us the story. Here, when the story starts,... more>> the betrayal/banishment event had already happened a long time ago. The author starts the story by showing us how the banished ML and the FML who banished him are living their lives, a few years after the event. So, when we start to read this novel, we know nothing about what happened between them, the only thing we know is the fact that ML holds a strong grudge against FML and her party.

As the story progresses, some events happens here and there with the ML or FML, which makes them remember bits of what happened in the past, and that's how we get to know, bit by bit, their past story.

At least in my opinion, this is a really interesting way to tell the story, cuz it keeps us on a state of curiosity.

On top of that, the way the banishment happened wasn't like it is in most of these stories. The FML party isn't composed of utterly garbage people, who are unable to see how much of a bunch of incompetent they are. They are strong, much stronger than ML (before the awakening of his ability) and, because they fear ML's life will be in greater danger the more the difficulty level of the missions they take increases, they decide to kick him out of the party, for his own safety.

The problem here is how they do it. Instead of talking to him and try to find a solution for this problem TOGETHER, they decide to act like villains, and kick him out of the party in the most hurtful way possible.

Ps.: They believed ML would never leave the party by his own will. BULLSH*T, they didn't even try to talk to him first. On top of that, who said that expelling him from the party was the only solution? Couldn't they have tried something different? Like, giving him a different role within the party, one more safe, like taking care of administrative stuff, managing the party funds, resources, missions to pick, etc? Yeah, yeah, I know I'm asking too much here. If they did have the ability to think rationally like that, this novel wouldn't have any reason to exist in the first place... hahahaha... But it really irks me seeing people choosing the betrayal and hatred path when there is a much more healthy option available.

Well, anyway, after that, the rift between them only get bigger and bigger.

My biggest complain in this story, at least till this point is, as Regulus12 said, the fact that the FML refuses to understand how much she wronged her childhood friend. She picked the worst possible option to solve the problem and, with it, she created a much, much bigger problem.

She destroyed the relationship they had for their entire life, she shatered the dream they vowed to achieve together, she kicked him out of a party they founded together, everything because of her own selfish reasons. Because she decided he couldn't keep up with her anymore. She never talked to him, never asked him anything, never tried to find a solution that involved his opinion. Who the hell she thought she was, to decide, by her own, his future, without his input?

That's why it is really infuriating how she refuses to see how wrong she is.

Let me make this clear here, she does understand that she betrayed and abandoned him, but she does not believe that what she did was wrong. It's that "necessary evil" mentality. And so, it isn't without reason that ML can't forgive her, even when she asks him to be forgiven. As ML said to her himself, her apology feels hollow.

BUT, there is a catch here. I'm starting to think that she is acting like that because she is being manipulated to think like that. There are two people on her team, the tank and the healer, that keeps constantly feeding her with the idea that she did nothing wrong, everytime they talk about what happened. And both of them have a personal reason to keep ML and FML apart from each other.

Another complain of mine here is the fact that I can sense that the author is leading ML through a path of forgival. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that all the hatred ML holds is being thinned out, like a flame dying. I'm not totally against it, but what I can't accept is him forgiving FML without her recognizing how and how much she wronged him. Until this point in this story, on top of not understanding her mistake, she did absolutely nothing to repent for it. How can you accept she being forgiven when she still doesn't believe that what she did was wrong? You just can't.

And Im not even mentioning here the event where ML almost got killed. It was an accident, everyone knows that, but for god's sake, FML never even said "I'm sorry, it was my mistake" to him. No, instead of that, while he was on a state where no one knew if he would live or die, she ran away from him, under the pretense of "completing a quest in a far away place". Jesus f*cking Christ!!!! This is too much.

Well, apart from that, the story isn't bad. It is not excellent, but is far from all those tr*sh banishment stories we see everywhere nowadays. <<less

is this a convoluted female power fantasy?

the main character sasha breaks an oath, crushes her friends haises livelihood completely and then conjures up an image that he should feel accomplishment of her achievements without him.

then she feeds him faulty information, resulting into permanently crippling him and robbing him of half his eyesight. This is treated like nothing throughout the whole novel. No compensation is ever done.

all characters of the ex party treat anyone else better than haise, even those who tried to openly harm them. They take in weaker people... more>> and are described to value their comrades, yet they never gave him back his place among them, even when he turned stronger than their whole clan combined. They slander and ridicule him, demanding he should trust them after ruining his life temporarily and doing nothing to fix the damage, yet never putting any trust in him or revoking the exile. Any time an issue arrives they are just forgiven instantly because the topic came up and thats it.

sasha decides to move on instead of taking responsibility for hurting haise and later blackmails him to work for them against his will. The netorare shield guy ab*ses his superior social standing to push haise out for better chances at a relationship with sasha. The evil priestess just openly commits s*xual harassment on sasha without consent, never gets punished for it, and continues to drag haises reputation through the mud. The sage pursues his personal greed without ever considering the consequences of his actions and pushes his demands on haise, after his party damaged him. The hypocrite archer girl just considers herself good because she stayed in the party to help haise, which doesnt make any sense when she did nothing to protect him in his weakest most vulnerable times.

sasha piles up privilege after privilege, amassing enormous assets while continuing to profit from haise looking out for her for no reason at all. His achievements are forcibly played down to lift her up even more. He is written like a self sacrificing saint with slightly sarcastic remarks. Everytime he meets someone, these new contacts become good friends with sasha afterwards. The female acquaintances being haises so-called harem are there to showcase his c*astity and that hes got some left over worth as a person while sasha gets fondled and worshipped by absolutely everyone who is not a designated antagonist. Haises girls are only there to fake a social circle that he in reality has not, then they start to be mainly entangled with sasha. They were never intended to seriously pursue a relationship with haise. He only ever does their bidding as their all purpose rescue tool. with haise at her beck and call after shes supposed to have broken up with him, I would judge this story to have netorare and humiliation as its defining characteristics. <<less

A decent change from the usual "zama" and revenge stories that commits a bigger mistake than the originals.

Spoiler

The party abandons the protagonist out of misguided kindness and sends him by mistake to a dangerous place, the MC gets almost killed.

I should also mention that the MC has a skill with the "master" suffix, which are known to be powerful ones so there's not Deus ex machina sudden awakening, it was bound to happen.

My problem lies with Sasha, she's probably the biggest Mary Sue I've ever seen, the world bends over to protect her from the consequences of her acts and the few times she's criticized, she either shows remorse and proceed to behave the same way the next chapter without consequences or someone quickly changes the subject and protects her from the fallout, she's only been verbally admonished by the MC and never suffered the consequences of her acts neither from the expulsion nor later transgressions.

There might be some of you who start reading the novel and think "This guy's nuts, she's properly reflecting on her mistakes!", you got tricked since the author is no amateur and knows that kind of scenes attract attention and feel right, but I think he's just going through a redemption checklist to say"My Sasha apologized, she's perfect" and it feels empty.

EDIT.

I should probably add some context since I used the "forbidden words" that makes people call you names.

The MC finds a way to explore a dungeon with his skill, Sasha gets jealous, sneaks into the ride and conquers the dungeon with the MC despite having her party and her dream being something like "I'll become the strongest with my team", at the end nobody blamed her and she got away with it.

The MC is exterminating bandits that kidnapped a friend, Sasha gets another request to protect a bandit that's actually a rich girl playing with fire, "thanks" to her intervention the head of the group runs away and again she gets a free pass (Her party running away for a day and returning immediately doesn't count as a trial since even at that moment other characters solved the problem for her).

Those are just two examples of the multiple times Sasha does whatever she wants, interrupts the MC or force his hand and gets away with it, zero consequences every time, because of that I can't believe their reconciliation and possible love story, the MC is the only one maturing.

The novel is decent when she's not present but since half of the content is about Sasha it gets two stars.

This could have been great, if only the author actually thought out the redemption and reconciliation of the two main characters.. But unfortunately what we got is a poorly written harem with the initial premise being barely given any impact..

The story should be about rebuilding bridges that were burnt.. It's not easy to reconnect with someone after they reduce your relationship back to zero, you need to do something really impactful to actually get a reaction from the other person.

IMO this is where the story fails, the FMC sasha gets... more>> a free pass. She never got any consequence to her actions. No redemption, no atonement, no suffering, and no character growth. It honestly baffles me that the MC even lets her come any close to his space. And after a certain amount of chapters, the MC just silently implies he forgives her by allowing her to flirt and be clinging with him. It's honestly sad and pathetic when you read it..

The story could have been actually great, if the author actually thought out this regret story. They could have given the FMC a mental dilemma where she becomes too perfectionist, trying to save everyone, or giving everyone the benefit of the doubt even if they don't deserve it.. Something that is like a trauma for her as a consequence to her betraying MC. It would have giving her character something she needs to grow and overcome, while at the same time trying to find a way to actually reconciliate with MC. For the MC, he already has a trauma on not trusting people, but it should have been more extreme imo, where he only lets people who actually earns his trust near his space. If the relationship is Zero, then no flirting or touchy touchy should even be allowed, even if they were your old party members.

The Arcs of this story should have been FMC earning trust points from MC so that she can have the right to ask for forgiveness from the MC. And the forgiveness should be earned after FMC sacrifices/does something outrageous for the MC.. Seriously, this was such wasted potential, I'm at a loss on how the author could mess this story up so much.. What a waste.. <<less

Honestly, this is a pretty good novel and different from what others have stated. The main point of the story is that Sasha banished Haise and their relationship was destroyed when she mistakenly sent him to an area where he almost died and he lost his right eye. Yes, a mistake; which is what set this apart for me.

Most of these banishment stories, the banishers are displayed as idiots or jerks, but not this one. They legitimately care for Haise and didn't want him to die, but he couldn't keep... more>> up with them. But Haise didn't know how to use his ability, but they knew he was strong. But in the end, they gave up on him and tried to get him to give up adventuring. Sasha even sent him to that area because she was trying to help him when he was acting solo after his banishment.

But through many mistakes, Haise almost gets kills, loses his right eye, but awakens to his powers. There is a scene where he yells at Sasha, but I'll leave that for you to read since it's really satisfying.

The novel explores the broken relationship between Sasha and Haise and how they move forward slowly with a new bond while also being reminded of Sasha's sin.

The fight scenes are okay and the power scaling can be odd at times.

Spoiler

For example, Haise and Sasha's goal is to conquer the 6 Forbidden Dungeons that no one has ever done. They accomplish this relatively soon after achieving S-Rank. But there are other adventurers much stronger than them and they never thought to conquer the dungeons. Furthermore, the first 2 dungeons didn't have anything outrageous that justified why Haise and Sasha conquered their own dungeons when no one else could. Only that the final boss was super strong, but Haise and Sasha aren't the strongest in the world so they shouldn't have been the first to beat it. The next 2 they conquer had some good reasons at least

[collapse]

Furthermore, Haise's hatred can be inconsistent. He hates Sasha and Team Sacred but will be okay interacting with the. Supposedly, the light novel fixes this but I will have to wait for an English translation to see that.

There is a Harem, but it is handled pretty well since Haise doesn't care about it, it's actually very bearable. The girls also make their feelings known almost immediately, so you don't have to worry about that teasing or dense stuff that make Harem stories annoying.

If you like the banished stories but want something new, this is good.

For me, I love reconciliation stories, where 2 good people break a part but find their way back to each other.

Spoiler

However, I will say I did not like the reconciliation chapter. For 2 reasons, Haise didn't show enough anger towards Sasha throughout the story so it made it seem like she got away with everything. Secondly, Sasha actually says she still believes banishing him was not the wrong decision. Like, seriously!? After everything you still say that!? But that goes into another problem, as a couple of chapters later she is tormented for banishing Haise and says she regrets it. Sasha's feelings on Haise's banishment are also inconsistent it becomes annoying.

[collapse]

I would rate this 4 out of 5, but because I have yet to find a story like this, it is a unique, hidden gem and I believe it deserves the 5 out of 5. <<less

Man, this is starting out interesting. But after the stampede arc its kinda get downhill.

Sasa still not realize all the pain she cause to Haise, and still think its a good idea to exile him (probably getting manipluated by the tank and the lesbian healer keep feeding her the idea that all she did was right)

Haise's grudge towards Sasa and her party kinda dim out at this point. He even dance with her in the party after they conquered the Dungeons.

So basically Sasa getting scott free after... more>> all the thing she did to haise. She not even trying to fix their relationship and also she keep getting in the flirty situation with the the tank and the prince. But when she saw another girl approaching haise (not like haise care about those girls) she get the jealous feeling. Its like keep a guy and go explore another options.

this could be better if the author was make Sasa realize her own mistake and trying step by step to earn Haise's trust back. I really hate the idea of making a heroine character did all the dumb things but still get away with it without trying to redeem herself

sorry for my broken english <<less

What started off as a good story, at least better than most here, quickly became a mess after a hundred chapters.

Spoiler

The main character starts losing substance and he quickly became one of those harem protagonists that is rude and unsociable but gets all those girls fawning over him anyway.

[collapse]

It really is a pity because this one could have taken a much better turn, providing not only the protagonist but a also the team that banisehd him with a worthy reconciliation as they move foward with their own goals.

Spoiler

Instead we have a strange setup where those that banished him and made him lose an eye don't even consider apologizing, only their leader does it, and it's just once at the beginning. Instead they move the relationship foward as if nothing really happened and our protagonist ends up doing the same thing.

[collapse]

The story is not bad in itself, but it's development is disappointing and boring. <<less

TLTR:

Honestly, the main story is kinda meh, the old trope of rejected from zero to hero, the good thing is the characters, like really.

Long version:

Being honest, as I said above, the gimmick of the story is kinda the best part? meh at worst, a interesting take at best ... more>>
Spoiler

First time I had read the accidental attempt to kill the MC, so it has that

[collapse]
Being honest, the story kinda is interesting, but the powerscaling and the scale of things kinda makes it boring by chapter 20, there is not an over arching plot, only some magfunin a to b, and honestly, THIS AINT ROMANCE, hate that at this point of the story, the author is trying to make it a harem, even tho the MC and fMC kinda want to be together?..... that whole relathionsip is so dumb, and at the same time, the most interesting poing of the story. The writing style is somewhat good, and the continous back and forth between each of the MC and FMC point of view makes it interesting at least.... lots of time skipts tho.

Read if ig you dont want to think to hard, a fun evening read, starts good, then becomes quite repetitive and kinda dull <<less
