This story is a LitRPG that follows an NPC in an immersive VR world who suddenly gains the ability to earn XP like the players. The protagonist comes across as quite naive, likely due to their previously repetitive daily life, but conveniently seems to know a lot just by overhearing the players. There are plenty of gaming elements like gear and stats, but it's difficult to get a sense of their impact since we're introduced to level 99 characters right away. Maybe it's just the frequency illusion at work, but ever since Solo Leveling, there's been an overwhelming focus on necromancer-type classes, which has started to feel off-putting especially when there isn't anything new explored about the class. So far, the cast of characters hasn't stood out much. The story also features forum discussions, but, as with many novels that use this device, the forum participants mostly come across as sycophantic, which, while realistic, feels bland and a bit demeaning. This results in a lot of dialogue that doesn't add much to the story.

That said, if you enjoy this genre, you'll likely appreciate the reaction-based humor and occasional misunderstandings. I've only read about 20 chapters, so it's possible the story improves further in, but for now, it hasn't fully grabbed me. <<less
