Easy, relaxing, well-paced supernatural story set in ancient china with a Crown Prince ML. The FL transmigrated into a fetus and was born able to see both worlds (ghost world and human world). As a result, her body is extremely weak. Since she also has a lethal destiny (brings misfortune to her blood relatives), her loving family had her raised at a Taoist temple. FL grows up OP and smart, but super weak and poor.

FL helps ghosts/ghouls resolve their issues and proceed to underworld judgment and reincarnation, and this earns... more>> her good karma to make her body stronger.

There is romance (see title), but the main part of the story revolves around the FL's colourful cast of characters, solving cases and helping ghosts. My favourite character is her bandit-general dad and her ruthless bandit brother.

If you like historical dramas, imperial/aristocratic conspiracies, royal romance, ghost hunting/helping, and a supportive ML, I'd recommend this. There is no tragedy, just an easy romance/adventure read. <<less

I dunno what the other peepz were saying here in the comment section all I know is I enjoy reading this. Even if the plot or the scenes were kinda cliche/repetitive doesn't some novels seem so? Like face slapping/being mary sue or something some leads in other stories were like that but it depends on your mood or feelings reading that book if it suits your taste. Well, for me even though I haven't finished reading it yet it is very entertaining for me to push it through.

This story was actually quite cliche with a transmigrator MC and the prince ML as the protagonists but the plot was quite interesting and engaging. MC wasn't that OP. Although she's considered a prodigy and Mary Sue, she was born with a weak body so she couldn't do martial art. But she was still very independent and rarely relied on ML to save her everytime she got into a problem. There's nothing special about ML though. He was typical cold indifferent guy but treated MC differently.

I also love MC's interaction... more>> with her family who had a bandit background, especially with her brother, Xie Pinggang, who had a venomous mouth. Her interaction with her junior brothers was also quite hilarious.

Too bad the author didn't mention them in the ending so I don't know what happened to them after ML ascended the throne.

As for the villain, thankfully they weren't completely brainless but most of them had the same characteristic, that was: they hated MC for no apparent reason and tried to scheme against her over and over again only to get a face slapping in the end. The final villain wasn't that great though so I'm a bit disappointed because of it.

The ending was good enough although some characters seemed to he forgotten to be mentioned. But overall, it's still wrapped nicely with almost no loose ends. <<less

With such a high rating, I thought this novel would be a gem! But boy was I wrong.

Just a typical Mary Sue novel where the FL is op and the ML royal whos slowly falling in love with all her face slapping.

'oh she's different and not like the other girls' kinda thing.

... more>> FL's step family are your typical 'im jealous so Imma do dumb crap out of envy' then get into trouble a few chapters after.

Very monotoned, and boring, maybe read to pass time I guess

translator is pretty good, so there's that extra star. <<less

this novel is peppered with interesting characters that grow in stride with the main leads. I love the dad, who was 'kidnapped' by the leader of a bandit group in his youth. The bandit leader liked him enough to let him marry his daughter, the dad's first wife, who he remembers fondly for her courage, her bravery, and her gender-bender beauty.

the dad had three wives in total, which was explored in a satirical yet funny stage play by a famous acting trope in order to find out which wife... more>> the dad loved best. The betting pool was soon filled out, driven in part by the masa's contempt yet adoration for the dad's very unusual love life.

the dad though is hapless and helpless against his eldest daughter, the MC, who is sickly and has a weak body. He even divorced his middle-aged third wife because her daughter commanded him to. Since the third wife is a gold-digging b*tch, he was happy really to see her go.

the supernatural elements are also interesting. There's the case of the Casanova with a wife and 13 concubines. This guy reeks so much s*x appeal and charm the husband of his last victim poisoned him to death then put a powerful and fatal curse on all his women and children who died soon after him.

what's nice about the story is that all the villains easily get killed within a short span after their intro. The stepsister died, the classmate died, followed by another green tea bit*h soon after.

MC's brothers and sisters are also funny and leap out of the page screaming with character. The second brother is the funniest since he's an idiot who loves going to brothels (the procurer kicked him out because he was only 10 at that time) and has an obsession with crickets.

the younger sister loves money and obsesses about nothing but money.

the ML is the only normal character in this set up. He's steady and really likes the MC. <<less

I had to find this novel on another website and it has 1227 chapters. The summary isn’t technically wrong but the novel is more focused on her dealing with the supernatural. There’s only a smattering of her other skills like the four arts or animal whispering. Her previous life isn’t really mentioned much so it’s not like she has crazy crossover skills. What she obtained was through the efforts she put in this life. The ML is there from the beginning but the romance is rather low key. I’m half... more>> appreciative of all the detail that went into the rituals and mantras and whatnot and half exasperated with how much word count it took up. The novel definitely has drama for sure but most of it is resolved relatively quickly and doesn’t drag on irritatingly forever. Not too much scheming or angst. There are a few places where I feel isn’t fully fleshed out but there’s a lot going on. <<less

Great Novel. I loved it. FL's family are funny and bit frustrating sometimes. They do as FL says and she is the law in the house. Her father, brothers, sister everyone obey her words and there was a great character development which satisfies the reader.

ML was someone with strong mind, respects and supports FL. Although he has slight disability (especially being a crown prince) he can overcome everything and didn't demoralize out of his way and treat everyone coldly.

Ghouls are really what I liked in this novel. Those cases are... more>> interesting. World building, characters and plot everything on point. <<less

I'm already in chapter 723 and the romance between the main characters is still engaged, there's nothing much progress with their romance but more on the otherworldly things.

That's why I'll be dropping this for a while but I will definitely pick this up again to finish it. It's a good story though. I'll give it a 9/10.

To be honest, I was dissapointed with the ending. It wraps up so fast. It would be nice if there are more chapters, I would prefer it longer. Still, the story did not dissapoint me. I mean, I love the Xie family so much. They are epic. I laugh every time there are interactions with Brother Pinggang or Pinghuai. Xixi's character was not emphasize much tho, unlike the 2 brothers. There are little interactions. Nonetheless, it deserves a high 5.

Good story with a nice balance of humor, adventure and character development.... and the chemistry between FL and ML was lovely and wholesome. There were parts you wished the writer to go in depth more, but it's OK overall... good translation.

Good entertaining read. There’s not much backstory of MC 1st life, but it’s always doesn’t matter. Lol. I love MC eccentric family, especially the 2 brothers. I not much fan of long chapters but this one I read all in 4 days. Which is a very good for me. Luckily its not draggy or too dramatic. There’s always s*upid villains but well they were needed for the plots. Not much plotshole or much things not make sense. I love supernatural stuff cus it can be an arc by arc read.... more>> This I consider a slow romance, cus they flirt too much. Lol. There’s alot review, so I just give my reading experience. First of all this book is good if you need a supernatural book with some unique factors, but is brainless enough that you don't have to think. But engaging enough that you'll continue to read. But by no means is it perfect. Depending on your taste, you might not like this if you can't ignore some of it's flaws. And that would be ok and reasonable bc the bad guys are dumb and annoying lol

Despite everything, this has a fairly uniquely weak physically but strong in essence yet also... more>> mentally normal MC (she isn't immune to ghosts (or events) who low-key freak her out but she also isn't afraid of dealing with them) and a family who are supportive and uniquely straightforward. Those are the two biggest pros here. <<less

I'd say this is one of the rare novels where characters are three-dimensional and fleshed out. Although there are stubborn villains typical for the genre, they are not the expendable canon fodder used just to make FL look better.

The relationship between characters is not too fast, even though they are interested in each other pretty quickly (not love from the first sight).

The focus of the story is the journey of the protagonist, not the romance part, and I appreciate it because I prefer my stories this way.

FL is rather overpowered... more>> when it comes to her talents and mystical practices, but she makes up for that with her weak body. Throughout the novel she works on gathering good karma for herself, helping ghosts and people around her. Although she sometimes makes rather hefty sums out of that, more often than not she chooses to do charity, because only that way she can get those karma brownie points to make herself healthier, so it's not an infinite cycle of 'helping ghosh for money—getting rich out of nowhere—helping ghosts again—getting even richer'.

My review seems to be 'a list of every shitty trope this novel doesn't use' (which is... yeah, I'm bitter about overused tropes for the genre!), but it's a really good read, and I recommend it for people who are like me want to read Chinese fantasy stories with likeable protagonist who is interesting enough to follow them.

Her family is definitely not the best in this sense, and her younger brother suffers from it quite a lot for the sake of 'betterment through punishment'. To the point where he's locked in the coffin for two days straight with no food or water, full on believing he caused the death of his sister. And after that he had to crawl back to his home from her 'grave' out of town.

The whole thing seemed insane for me, and I had trouble comprehending how FL got on board with this idea.

I know that I can't expect the same level of child care in a story set in a 'medieval' fantasy China, and her younger brother definitely needed education on many things, but this still feels too much for me. It was really hard to read that part.

If anyone is debating on whether reading this would be good or not, You Should Read This.

The FL is smart, OP but not too much, pretty, and well there's too many, she's good. She would be a Mary Sue but she has a sickly body because of the spirits close to her. Though she holds grudges. I pity her younger brother.

The villain's aren't unreasonably s*upid. Her family is pretty good, though her siblings and father are quiet s*upid (in IQ). (Later on they are to the point that it makes... more>> you fume with anger) sigh

For me it's just right. Her personality is good, not too kind nor mean, she's quite lazy but it's fine.

It's good overall. There's an ML and he's good but there isn't much I could say about him right now since it mainly focuses on the FL and I'm only at ch70. <<less

this book started off a little confusing with little to no background about the FL. Nonetheless, this book is quite different from other books of the genre in that the FL actually practices Taoism and is an expert in reading faces (physiognomy?) and all that. So, despite the lack of explanation of where the FL comes from, it's quite intriguing to know about how one's face determines their personality and future. Other than that, the ML seems to be the crown prince (of course)
