Ppl say PWY is a copy of Malicious empress, but they are totally different novels. The similar thing would be rebirth and their s*um husbands in their previous life.

PWY isn't full vent on revenge but she will give you back a thousand folds once you touch her reverse scales. Another thing is she no longer wanna sit at the empress seat nor wanna marry any of the princes as she has seen how all of them will only just use her for their benefits. the previous generation's female leads - the mother of ML and the empress. Their stories really haunted me. While the empress and the princess were never allies, they both got ruined by the same males - the emperor and the empress's brother.

Emperor forced the princess to live in shame, forced the empress to live in hatred. The brother drove Empress to despair by betraying her, drove the princess to madness by raping her.

If it wasn't for these males' petty selfishness, if they truly knew how to love & cherish their loved ones, these two talented beautiful women wouldn't be so broken and had such miserable endings.

Siiigh, no one was really all that likeable, not even Wei Yang. Sure, the plots and revenge parts were fun, but we don't really go into the nitty gritty of the scheming. It's like Wei Yang tells her maids to monitor or find out things, then the next scene is the actual plot when Wei Yang beats all her adversaries and we find out how she did it and done. It's just unsatisfying. The other is that there are so many words left untranslated which was... more>> kinda annoying as I kept having to go to the footnotes to find out if the Chinese word meant anything important to the story and then have to scroll and find back where I left off. This is not like the Japanese translation where it is easy to remember all the common suffixes and common family titles like sister or brother. This translation has like a gazillion idioms, the many, many ways to call or address someone, especially in the complicated, super large family where there are many wives, sigh.

Whaat I feel like some people are way too harsh on this story.

I've never read Rebirth of a Malicious Empress so I won't bother trying to compare the stories based on the other reviews.

I actually quite like this MC and this story. Someone says all she does is falsely accuse her enemies and it's just the same tricks, but the settings are always different. In fact, one of the things I appreciate is how the author really brings us along with her story, how she goes from an insignificant little... more>> s*ave child to a person others can't touch, every step of the way. Reading the reviews, I was worried she was helplessly cruel and merciless on innocents, accusing people of crimes they may not even commit yet. However, that's not the case (except for the situation that caused her to get mad at 7th). In every situation, her enemies were scheming to trip her, and she's just there to guide & reverse the situation. If her opponents didn't provoke her, she also wouldn't provoke them.

Although most of it is quite realistic, I'm really upset about the character & background of ML. It just makes no sense to be inserted in the story, and feels like it's just there to give MC convenient plot devices and support when she needs it. I will say their relationship isn't the typical bickering-playfully-to-lovers like many of these stories but rather they become very close and reliant on each other before feelings become more romantic. But ML's background is just too crazy golden finger falling out of the sky lmao. In most situations it's okay for me because she doesn't actually rely on ML to achieve her goals, but sometimes it makes me a lil uncomfortable lol. Also she's a lil TOO smart, like some of these things it doesn't make sense that she could know as well as she does...

I also wish she had more allies, or half-allies. I feel like the characters on the cusp always get warped into bad guys when I wish that weren't the case (eg. Jiang Yue Lan). It's a pity, otherwise it could've been a great way to show character depth.

I do think most of the character portrayals are quite good though. We see transformations and distinct characters, like the Emperor. It kinda makes you think "how could he be so foolish" but at the same time very distinct and still okay.

Anyway, bookmarked. I did get bored earlier in the story, but the mysterious, face-slapping-deserving nature of these arcs are quite engaging. <<less

I give 4 stars mainly because of the ending which left me a deep impression where I didn't see this intriguing plot in any of the historical novels I have ever read. Honestly 1st half is seriously good but 2nd half in West is repetitive and boring. Also fight for the throne at the end is very rushed and weiyang x Yuan Lie ending ... more>>

and weiyang x Yuan Lie ending is very rushed. I got the Throne fight results in two chapters and weiyang ending in one paragraph ??‍♀️ but still Queen of the West is amazing in the extra chapter, also I fell in love with antagonist in the end. I came to this novel for The Princess Weiyang but West Queen got my heart in the end. Omg that plot twist before the west Queen dying in that Palace fire with West King is amazing ? Whoever imagined that Yuan Lie is the real biological son of Queen but the Prince is the biological son of Qixia Princess and King ? That Prince is really pitiful (he didn't get either king/Queens love even his wife/lover is not truthful also his rightful throne ?) and I'm so sad for him but still West Queen Son Yuan Lie didn't inherit the throne (i wonder how she will feel after knowing about it) because all he wanted was Princess Weiyang and he did really succeed with getting two kids as well ? Lol ?

In the end, it's a good read if you can tolerate/skip some of boring chapters in 2nd half. Must Say West King, West Queen, Qixia Princess, Win Chu, Dali King & Queen, Jing Wang, all these main characters are pitiful because no one got their love back from their beloved ones. They failed in getting their love except for Princess Weiyang. She is the only one who got their beloved love/hubby in the end and so happy ending for Princess Weiyang after rebirth ?❤️ <<less

Currently half way through the story, reading the raws. Enjoyed the story mostly but starting to dislike the ML. Feel that he is very possessive, annoying even. He is like those other men/love interest in the story, viewing MC as an item that is his.

Tf to a person who criticize me, I'm sorry if I came as two-faced for you but I can't change my rating because I write this on phone. And yes I like Wei Yang story, I still will remember it but I don't read it anymore and I don't even give the author any pennies of profit. It's good that the truth revealed. Hope authors who plagiarized get a justice from court. My earlier review is my own honest opinion about this story not the author before know the... more>> plagiarism case. Hm I think some of you unfair when gave reviews. I agree Malicious Empress is the superior story. But this story doesn't deserve 1 star.

I read a lot of chinese transmigration/reincarnation stories, IMO this is one of the best. And there is no controversial plot either like pe*ophile love interests, r*pe, dubious consent in romance, shitty ML, a plot armored Mary Sue MC. This story has none of that.

And the plot is interesting too and seem logical than similar stories in this genre. MC is more ruthless than Malicious Empress MC who has more empathy. But that's what make them different, and both of them are enjoyable too, for me.

The pacing is good, not too fast or slow.

I approved this ML, which is rare moments. Since I hate most of Chinese/Korean MLs. In another stories Tuoba Zhen can be easily made as an ML.

Ok, before I begin I want readers to understand that simply knowing the future won't guarantee her success especially because she doesn't have much of a standing. Although she manages to bag a princess title, lets face it, exactly what all powers does she truly possess ? The consort Nian (I am not sure about the name) who in an attempt to quench her unyielding thirst for revenge destroys a perfectly flawless plan that could have ended the enemy once and for all.

The slow-pace and the gradual development is what makes the story more realistic. And all those readers complaining that she isn't scheming enough, need to know that out rightly opposing others would only alarm them. Her way of disguising herself as naive, yet at the same time calm whilst subtly hinting others that she is not a person to be trifled with makes other wary but not wary enough to make them blacklist her as their enemy no.1 (, of course there are some exceptions (if you know what I mean ;))) is her way of dealing with casualties. And lastly, to those who think MC is not smart enough, or for that matter, black-bellied enough, just know that she is portrayed as a human who may know what the future holds but in the end, is a betrayed soul who was forced to grow up. Trust me, her making mistakes and learning from them is far more believable than a person, all of a sudden, learning cruelty and becoming black-bellied . And so far her kindness is concerned, I would only say that I have yet to figure whether its a counter-measure on her part for the sake of having benefactors or a small act of perseverance wherein she is trying to help others from succumbing to wickedness of others like she did.

On the end note, this fantastic angst filled tragic story of princess Wei Yang left quite a big impression on me coercing me to question some scary aspects of human nature leaving me with a sense of revelation that love truly is blind but then again is it truly that tempting and addicting as they say ?

One of my favourite LNs here. I like how the MC isn't default the most beautiful lady in the book, unlike most cn novels I can name, where their beauty is almost a virtue itself. In fact, this is reiterated many times over comparing her with her half sister. I'd say she has a certain je ne sais quoi and her calm wisdom which appeals to people in unexpected ways.

The MLs (I won't spoil who's the main) are distinct characters and each has unique interactions with the MC. I kinda... more>> want even the psychopath from her past life to fall for her just so he can have a taste of his own medicine.

The only downside is, as another reviewer mentioned, the nonstop scheming, which gets tiring after a long while. Especially when you get all angry at how she's constantly looked down on in her home. Which also means the story succeeds in engaging the reader. <<less

3/5. Read translated chapters upto 110 and MTL-ed the rest. I am deducting two stars for the VERY rushed ending. The "final" villain/mastermind of the story is the neighbouring country's Queen Empress Pei.

she killed Wei Yangs family and is the biggest enemy of MC in the second half of the story. Her death was completely skipped over! There was no clear explanation of what even happened to her and I feel very disappointed. All that plotting and build up of political intrigue wasn't paid off. The Emperor's death was also very rushed. All in all, what should have been full chapters were condensed into one or two sentences, which I really didn't like.

Compared to The Malicious Empress of Military Lineage (TMEML), another rebirth-revenge story that's constantly compared to this one, TPWY is a lot more vicious with its schemes and revenge. The villains are also more cruel as a result, so we as readers can cheer for their demise.

Personally, this story gets bogged down a lot by the continuous scheming - I feel like TMEML does a better job of pacing the schemes so the reader doesn't get suffocated by them - but it's still a good read. I would recommend reading... more>> the beginning quite fast since it isn't that bad at that point, but to read the rest more slowly so you don't get saturated.

My favorite part of this story is that LWY, the MC, isn't the most beautiful - instead, the evil step-sister is, and this is one of the themes (I guess?) of the story, that beauty is only skin-deep. Without her beauty, the evil step-sister has nothing else and it's to the point of obsession for her to be the most beautiful (and most talented, but being the most beautiful takes priority). Instead, the MC with her normal level beauty shines with her intelligence and composure as a result, which is a lot more refreshing.

Personally, for me, since the romance isn't that prominent, I'm not too invested in it. It's okay, but not really there tbh, it's mostly the ML supporting the MC at this point. Thankfully, however, the ML and the MC are the same age - altho I have to admit I'm still creeped out how the MC is like mentally 30+ years..... it's just not natural.

As for the schemes.... they can be a little too vicious for my liking. I find them intelligent, but others with a more cunning mind might find them boring or dumb - I have to admit that I'm not good at scheming or anything of the sort so any remotely intelligent scheme seems brilliant to me~ There is also the typical aphrodisiac plot.... that I'm never comfortable with, so for that the schemes also aren't to my taste.

I think another thing that TWPY does better than TMEML is the way the MC acts w/ her loved ones. Both Shen Miao and Li Wei Yang are obviously broken individuals full of revenge, they have no time for friendship or romance or being vulnerable - which is very understandable and justified. But for me, that can get boring fast, and I would rather enjoy watching the character develop and heal herself over the course of the story as she gets her revenge. In my opinion, TWPY does this much better, and it also made LWY more relatable....I always felt that SM was like an old lady, and she was always too cold with her family even tho she obviously loved them - altho it did make me feel bad for her, but still.... shouldn't she be happy that she's finally reunited with them?

Either way, this is one of the typical rebirth-revenge stories that is better than most out there, and depending on your personal tastes, you'll like TWPY or TMEML better. Imo, I think they're equally good, with each having their strong and weak points, altho I think I might like TMEML better because it's not as cruel in its revenge. <<less

I quite liked the story, but I have deducted two stars for the given reasons :

1) The story progresses really sloooowly?, so much so that at one point I wish to just skip to the last few chapters to know what really happened, but wait here comes reason number 2.

2) The translation updates are so slow, given the rate at which the translator is translating it will be years before I really could skip tot he last chapters, by then I guess I wouldn't care for the story and wouldn't... more>> have given up on it. No offence to the translator, I know you guys are doing hard work translating it but it's just really too slow as compared to zazajunni's translation of TRMEML.

3) The Princess Wei Yang is a freaking superhuman and is just goi vicious. I mean I get that what happened to her in her past life was really awful but the writer went way beyond to make her, well basically Wei Yang.

4) Pshh, this one's really not a reason (i just wanted to make another point to continue point number 3). Despite all the unimaginable stuff that a 13 year old female could pull off, I was amazed by writer's creativity, so many methods to take revenge! Wow! <<less

Very good novel. Satisfying revenge like military empress. I like this one better because of MC ruthless revenge. Unlike military empress, MC doesn't give up revenge over love. I like her and her revenge. ML stay with MC because he want MC attention and love. MC treat him like brother.

I like this novel very much. I like how the female lead plot her revenge. I like the cold-hearted, cruel female lead rather than the too kind-hearted one. The drama is another story though.. A big disappointment to a great novel.

First of all... This is not for someone with weak stomach, and unlike fluffy drama adaptation the viciousness of Wei Yang could be considered legendary even by standard of revenge genre web novel. The drama mix several character background for Wei Young and Le Minde, the drama and novel are completely different thing.

Revenge-time travel element in this story weave intricate plot as Wei Young find the past-future and present-future she face now start to fork to completely different path. The meat of this story is a very complicated plot in... more>> Wei Yang's family and royal family. Wei Yang, learning from her mistake in the past become a champion plotter who avoid traps her enemies laid out to her. Wei Young while vicious, sticking firmly to her principle to only retaliate against those who wants to harm her. She didn't blindly kill everyone who wrong her in her past, but they're not so merciful.

The amazing plot against each other aside, the weak point of this novel is repetition of her enemies, they're all doesn't know when to quit. Reading the RAW ahead, it takes 127 chapters for a sensible character on opposite side to appear and choose to get the hell out of her way. And the guy isn't even the smartest one around.

This story really ab*se the notion of 'your enemies won't quit till they're six feet under' as proven by how Wei Yang avoid outright killing until they go overboard.

As for romance... strangely enough nonexistent so far

This is an enjoyable read nonetheless, not the most original story in term of idea but well written with a lot of thought put into the plot. <<less

Because this book I began to read another rebirth theme. The beginning of story make me cried a bucket. T___T

The emperor so cruel. Read aboutt his treatment to Wei Yang make me heartache. Fortunately Wei Yang is given 2nd chance. I hope she can get revenge and find happiness of her own.
