personally, as I read this, I have a growing sense of discomfort and slight annoyance.

i don't exactly know why, but I have an idea.

the issue is that the author uses a lot of 'tell, not show'. They're all just one dimensional stock characters. The main character feels so basic despite the author trying their best to make him interesting.

... more>> he also has everything fall into his lap as soon as the plot starts. Honestly, I can't read his desperation, which might just be a translation issue.

his personality is blander than flour and is somehow hypocritical with no set character traits?? I have no clue how the author pulled that off. He has this pessimism that turns on and off, which can be funny, but in this just feels depressing.

i have a feeling that the author has no idea how the industry works, but that's forgivable from a layman's view.

like previously said, the side characters are just stepping stones for the main character. I can't bring myself to get attached to any of them, regardless of how important the author wants them to be. Hell, I even forgot most of their names and i've been reading it just before this review.

i feel the current rating is suitable, at around a 3-3.5 stars. <<less

Despite the classic traffic accident at the start, it's actually not a regression story and the protagonist survives. Instead he gains some sort of synaesthesia that allows him to see sounds as colours.

In the past, he used to be a genius painter but eventually changed to composing music. With his new perception of sounds, he turns them into a "painting" with extraordinary harmony and drawing out the individual flavours of vocalists and instruments.

The plot itself isn't particularly complex or interesting at this point yet. He got unlucky with several of... more>> his songs being buried instead of released, so now he composes and produces under a new pseudonym to avoid the stigma of bad luck attached to his real identity. He manages to meet someone with similarly bad fortune, finds reasonable success, and uses that to get back into the industry and get consistent work.

While he's excessively talented, he doesn't seem to be skilled at interacting with people, rubbing many of them the wrong way initially which leads to conflicts that he has to resolve somehow.

He's missing the foresight of a regressor to deal with problems before they happen, but still somehow pushes through. Not necessarily in a spectacular fashion however. It just seems that what he does is somehow good enough.

Other characters have some variety, but not a lot of depth. It remains to be seen how it will develop further. It might improve and there might be developments, or it might turn bland. It's too soon to tell.

It's definitely not particularly gripping and by no means a masterpiece, but overall reasonably entertaining. <<less
