As you might've guessed, this is a story about opposites attract except that both are tyrants who won't think twice about crushing anyone who dares to mess with them mercilessly; just that one does it in the open proudly thanks to his strong family background and his own capabilities and the other hides her schemes deeply under her mask of obedience and servitude.

I don't really think this novel brings something new to the table, but personally I still enjoyed it very much. The pace is just right, the plot is... more>> very engaging and the leads and also other supporting characters are quite likeable. Mind you that this is just my preferences and you may not see it the same, but rather than those shitty brainless novels out there you may as well give this a try. Not saying that there are no plotholes and frustrating moments, but they're not so much that they become a dealbreaker.

Let's move on to the characters, shall we?

  • FL: imo she's one of the most likeable FLs so far. She's calm and capable, she handles pretty much her own problems on her own

  • ML: to say that he's the typical cold domineering CEO is correct but at the same time it isn't... If that makes sense somehow. You'll see what I mean if you read the novel cause throughout the story, he's mostly a playful rogue to FL but acts coldly to everyone else even his own friends. Normally I don't like this kind of MLs, but his tsundere tendencies

  • SML: tbh he's like one of the biggest mysteries in this novel cause istg I just can't understand how the hell he ends up falling for FL.

    SML has the same name and face as FL's fiancee in her past life. When she first saw him, she was kinda shocked but she quickly decided the past is in the past; just because he looks like her fiancee doesn't mean she has some lingering feelings or something like that heck she even decided nothing good would come out of associating with him any further. But then an incident occurred where he got hurt protecting her and in her shock she called her "Songhan-gege". After that, I kid you not she avoids him almost like a plague I just can't believe he'd fall for some random stranger just because she calls him "gege" like... Bruh are you for real

    ngl, people might dislike ML but I actually hate him more cause he doesn't wanna back off despite being told no (albeit implicitly, but bruh dude is no idiot when it comes to social cues) over and over again.
  • As most romance novels do, naturally there are many brainless evil supporting character opposing FL here, tho to say brainless probably isn't that accurate cause there are times they do think twice... (except for her fake sister and her husband who are so deep in their delulu and offending FL over and over again) Not everyone is evil tho

    SML's ex-fiancee, for example. When FL (unwittingly) came to the picture, she's long moved on from SML and even have a boyfriend, tho she probably still has some lingering feelings for him. She knew FL is the reason why SML broke their engagement, but she's still cordial to her and so is FL. She even helps provide a testimony when FL and SML got caught in a scandal together. Too bad she doesn't end up as her friend.

  • There are still many other supporting characters I wanna talk about but I've yapped too long here lmao, so I'll just add this: to anyone worried about their families' status gap, ML's grandma is their number one avid shipper so you don't have to worry about some frustrating family drama.
The points I've brought up above pretty much sum up what I like and dislike the most about this novel but there are also some minor things that the author left hanging just like that

like their life after marriage (lol where the babies) and the backstory of FL's best friend and her nominal husband (who is also ML's friend)

Anyway, this novel is definitely one of the good ones so don't let that 3.9 rating deter you from reading.

Edit: sooo I made a mistake and turns out I haven't really completed the novel yet haha... Anyway now that I've read everything I take back what I wrote about the author left things hanging; all the loose ends had been tied up in quite the vague yet still conclusive manner

FL and her best friend got pregnant around the same time and their children were only three days apart in age lol. No more backstory about FL's best friend and her husband, but we get to see a bit more about ML's eldest brother's tragic love story... Ngl I kinda changed my opinion about ML's grandma here

I LOVE THE FL, I wanna give her 5 stars. The ML, 1.5stars. Hence rating of 3 stars.

ML is an annoying narcissist who is not really needed--bcos our FL: actually save herself, has plans for future without men, and resolve any danger with her own scheme. Currently I think he's basically a flower vase with extra money to spare.

This is a great novel about a strong-willed female lead who is both domineering and unexpectantly cute at the same time. Sang Ning, our MC, transmigrated from ancient times to modern times and realizes in this time period she can finally fight properly for what she wants instead of being tied by social norms about women. She learned at a young age that women cannot study or control anything and can only rely on staying in the backyard and following their husbands. After coming to a period where she can... more>> no longer be restricted, her most important goal was to establish herself and prove to everyone how capable she can be. Compared to other super smart heroines, she is not that mary-sue but she is very smart and is willing to put in the effort to learn all the skills she needs (i.e. Taking a few college classes to learn about business, doing self-study to make up for her lack of a college degree, etc.).

The ML is also very adorable IMO. I wouldn't call him a tsundere but he likes to brag about how much she loves him when in reality, it's him who is the one deeply in love. He'll brag openly to his friends but is the one who has the last say in this relationship and everyone knows it. I really think his and MC's personalities are a cute combo. She doesn't mind his little quirks and he absolutely adores her. Of course only she can run him over, anyone else, he turns into a domineering CEO and absolute tyrant.

For the side-characters, most of them are written pretty well for how short the novel is. The ending of her family and the adopted sister is not the usual ending in most switch-at-birth novels which is a bit refreshing. And the MC never becomes truly helpless, she always has a backup but doesn't rely on the ML even if he is a top boss. He mainly only helps when he's supporting her because he knows she wants to do it herself. Overall, I think this is a solid novel about two people who seem to have very opposite personalities but in fact, are more similar than thought and because they love each other, can make it work out. It's very sweet and the little conflicts get resolved pretty quickly so there isn't too much angst. So if you're looking for a domineering CEO-female lead and a puppy-like tyrant ML who is obedient only to the FL, then I highly suggest giving this a chance.

There is a side story after MC and ML gets married where ML goes back to ancient-times before MC transmigrated. So this time, ML gets transmigrated and MC has no memory of her in modern-times so she doesn't remember ML. MC is also still engaged to Pei Songhan but the author shows how ML still manages to marry MC and how they will still end up together no matter what time period or whether or not she still remembers him. In short, they were meant to be together and she and him would always fall in love. It's a sweet side-story that doesn't really impact the main story too much, but it does give the ML an understanding of who MC really is. After he wakes up, he confirms his dream but doesn't question it further because to him, what's most important is that no matter where, she will always fall in love with him and that's all he needs.

This story is amazing. This is a true strong female lead in that she knows what she wants, and has her priorities straight. She doesn't need to be rescued every five chapters, she refuses to depend on love for her future, that's not to say the ML doesn't help, but the ball is usually in the FL's court.

Highly reccomended!
