After clearing the [Last Dungeon], Lee Danwoo died. The sword pierced his throat, and the ceiling collapsed, leaving no one alive.

But he opened his eyes again and returned to before the arrival of the [End].

In the first attempt to conquer the [Last Dungeon], Cha Woowon died and Lee Danwoo managed to escape alone… What did he wish for?

“Are you okay? You’re covered in cold sweat.”

The young Cha Woowon, who didn’t know Lee Danwoo, spoke. Lee Danwoo nodded weakly.

“You’re crying.”

‘I know.’

He had plenty of regrets.

The most regrettable thing was before it all began,

Lee Danwoo returned.

* * *

“A monster is about to trample thirty people in front of us. If you intervene, you’ll die, but they can survive. What will you do?”

Without hesitation, Cha Woowon answered Lee Danwoo’s question.

“Stopping it seems like the right judgment.”

‘This guy is a good bastard…’

More urgent than strategy or anything else, there was a pressing issue.

Why did Cha Woowon die in the [Last Dungeon]?

Without a doubt, it was his good personality that was the problem.

This time, Lee Danwoo would save him.

By tearing apart his righteous human nature.

I mean it's alright. I gave it 4 stars because I read it in four days. My accurate rating is probably around 3.5 stars. The beginning is really good and hooks you in. there are many things that are building and foreshadowing for a bigger thing but it just feels a little unfulfilled. I wish that there were side stories to wrap the other characters up.

Spoiler

I also feel like The End dungeon was really rushed and felt unfinished. They just kind of skipped around in time and expected you to go along with it. I can't remember much from the beginning since I'm writing this on the 4th day lol but I remember the beginning being better than the ending. Idk I just feel like it was mid. And the characters were kind of forgotten in the end too. The more I'm writing the more I'm remembering the little odd details that kind of threw me off. It just felt like the author got bored of it slightly. Anywho...

I also felt like the main characters s*xual intimacy was confusing. I didn't even realize that they went all the way until half way into the story when they kinda drop that they slept together. And it was just confusing when they were in the middle of an intimate scene and all of a sudden it cuts to after, which I get since it's r-15, but some of the things it contains is a little more mature for r-15. The rating is just weird since it's written like it's for teenagers, and then they just throw in a little bit of drug induced dubious consent in there like it's nothing. Also didn't like the dubcon, but honestly the bar is on the floor for bl, it's better than straight up r*pe at least but it is still infuriating.

I started The Regressor's Personality Training without reading reviews, deeply analysing tags, or even looking closely at the plot summary. I just jumped in—and by chapter 3, I was hooked.

All the characters felt real. Both the MCs, the supporting cast, and even the villains were complex, with no flat, two-dimensional personalities in sight 😌. This stood out to me immediately.

Normally, I don't like dungeon/gate stories, and I was hesitant to start because of it. But here, the fights are explained well, end quickly, and never drag on. They're important to... more>> the story but aren't the entire focus, which I deeply appreciated.

If you like emotionally complex characters, engaging plots, dynamic relationships, and a dash of smut 😉😉, stop reading reviews and just start this webnovel.

Spoilers below (kinda) mostly my descriptions of the characters:

Spoiler

Lee Danwoo (MC) : As another reviewer mentioned, he's an unreliable narrator, which I loved. I would consider him my second son. He's not as weak as he thinks he is; he's a genius who doesn't believe he's a genius. He can speak harshly, but everyone around him knows he cares. He's unpredictable yet lonely, hates showing weakness, is stubborn, and can lead like a dictator without hesitation—despite being described as looking like a doll. I always looked forward to seeing how he would handle each situation.

Cha Woowon (ML) : He is my first son. Outwardly, he's kind and polite, with a handsome, hero-like vibe. In reality, he's cold, possessive, fiercely protective, and has strong yandere tendencies. He's the type to get angry with a smile and criticize you without you realizing it. The tags don't do him justice; he's not just a strong, handsome hero but a person with overlooked wants and needs, even within the story. He might be my favorite character (I'm definitely biased).

Kang Woolim and Seo Seojung are fantastic. They're hilarious, interesting, and radiate sibling-duo energy that lightens the tension in the best way.

If there's one thing I hate, it's s*upid, irrelevant villains with no strength. Ki Heeyoon is not that. He's cunning, charming, smart, strong, and incredibly greedy. He doesn't have a tragic backstory—he's simply a criminal, and that makes him all the more effective as a villain.

The Regressor's Personality Training was an unexpected gem for me. It balances fights with emotional complexity, has characters you will genuinely care about, and keeps you guessing about everyone's motives. If you're on the fence, I recommend giving it a try. I don't regret diving in blind, and you probably won't either. <<less

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES

It might sounded like a storm of cliches, and it might be a little, but it was done in a very tasteful and enjoyable way.

Lee Danwoo was a little fish being put into a pond for big fishes and he struggled to keep up with the rest in that pond. It cost him a LOT more to do things that others could do easily because they were 'talented' and he might be a bit resentful of that, but ultimately he was someone who focused... more>> on what needed to be done. I really like his character and Cha Woowon was really right for him.

Like most other regressor, Lee Danwoo was insanely unreliable as a narrator. Do not trust early chapters flashbacks because it was mostly colored by his depression and bogged down by his pessimism, but as the story goes, more things would be cleared up.

The thing that made him different from most other unreliable narrator regressor was his self-awareness. He wasn't dense. He might have missed a few things in the past, but his main unreliableness as a narrator was entirely self-inflicted. Because he was a pragmatic person who focused on doing what needed to be done, he (rightly) decided to think and remember things a certain way to not be bogged down by silly things like emotions.

It was really telling when more of his plans were successful, he began remembering fonder memories
Spoiler

of his time with Cha Woowon instead of their horrible start. By the time he regress, Lee Danwoo already had enough insight to know that while at the beginning Cha Woowon might not have his best interest in mind, but in the end they do love each other. He wasn't exactly in denial of this, but he pushed it out of his mind in favor for the uglier part of their relationship because that affection might destroy him with Cha Woowon dead.

, because it wouldn't happen again.

I also like Cha Woowon's character as seen through Lee Danwoo's eyes and in his own pov. The past Cha Woowon
Spoiler

was a hero but not a gentle one. He had been tempered by loss, so he knew when to get tough. It was a Cha Woowon who, sadly, grew up and matured through grief, so he had sharp edges. Good thing that Lee Danwoo always see through those edges and rougher actions and the present Cha Woowon

Most of all, I love their relationship a lot. They understand and trust each other to frightening degree. It was to the point of idol worship. It wasn't a 'I will trade the world for you' relationship, because they know the other wouldn't like that. But it was a 'I will save the world, because that's what you would want and because there was you in that world'. <<less

I enjoy this so much. The way MC just casually scammed saved people and recruited him to his team is really funny. Another point that I like is when ML, who looks like an innocent baby, seemingly opposes but actually encourages MC to go ahead with doing a 'just' deed lmao

What a ride. It's comedic, but also heartbreaking. It's fast-paced, but also slow-burning. You'll feel like the MC is smart and has everything under control, but he's also one unreliable narrator haha. It's definitely just what you'd expect of a regression Hunter BL. Still, it's a very well-played one.

A bit sad that there's no side stories released as of this review so I had some questions remaining, but the completed chapters are already more than enough. Highly recommended read.

I'm not very good at English but I wanted to write my opinion here. I love stories where the MC is close to a regressor (I don't know if it's a regressor because, from what I've seen since the beginning, only the MC has gone back in time). Here, a new concept with an MC who is attached to the regressor even though the regressor wasn't very nice to him. Attachef enough to think of him directly when he comes back, crying when he sees him. I can't wait to... more>> see what happens next.

I'll update my comment when it does. <<less

It's solid. I think it's a recommended read for the genre lovers. By that I mean Gate/Hunter and not BL, but that works as well if you already read both.

The ending is a bit, how to say, unsatisfying? quick? There's also a loose end (in the very beginning, there is the final dungeon clear reward, but in the end, there wasn't a mention). Actually the holy sword also. So like a couple of loose ends.

Actually the system and such also. Maybe there were things there that didn't get used?

A couple... more>> of side stories would have helped complete the book. Could have made a sequel with a different protagonist as well or something.

Still, again, a good read.

Contains...

    • typical dense lying to themselves protagonist
    • dubious consent
    • one OK villain (ending is meh tho)
    • a couple of s*x scenes (three?) (they're all succinctly in one/two plotline so get what you can, when you see it, that's all you'll have) (it's good but it's also a bit hard to understand cause of all the literary s*x language)
    • interesting characters
I'm not giving it an excellent because everything is good but there is no wow for me yet. It's really good but the execution could have been even a bit better.

Almost forgot...

TW: child neglect and family trauma.

No actual trauma except that touchy topic (and the dub con I mentioned).

Also if someone actually hyperventilates in real life I think you should give them a brown bag or a plastic bad or something. And breathing is key but also I think distraction is also sometimes key? Point is I'm not sure and I don't think the author gave a correct information so best to look it up to not remember wrong things. <<less

Usually don't rate until later, but hoping to give this more traction!

5/5 for the first 20 chapters. I'm really enjoying this so far.

Setting is the standard KR Dungeons + RPG-style skills + regression. MC's goal after his regression is to save his friends.

Thus far, there has been a fair bit of action, interesting setups to re-form MC's original party, and excellent character interactions. The dialogue has been great actually. I love the interactions between MC and ML so far, and I'm hoping that the rest of the cast will be... more>> good as well. Usually in this genre of webnovels, the biggest issue I run into is lack of action and plot progression - characters just talk to each other and nothing really happens. I haven't had that issue with this series so far, so I'm hyped to see what's next. <<less

Summary: Main character tries to fix his friends personality because after coming back to the past, he realizes that his friend isn’t as hard as he will be in the future.

Since it was first translated in June I’ve been keeping up with this story but, updates have been slow and inconsistent which happens to a lot of stories on here but it is annoying. If you’re looking okay to wait the read because it’s overall a 5 star story but if not, don’t read and wait for it to be... more>> completed. <<less

To be honest, I really liked the first half of the novel, but at times it felt like the author didn't know what to do with the characters.

Other reasons why I am not givin this more than 3 stars

Spoiler

The MC has a drug addiction, and everytime MC and ML had s*x, MC was high on drugs and soo vulnerable, the first time I could let it pass since ML was also affected by the drugs, but the second time is a whole new level of mess, while also being messily written
