A hardworking young woman from the modern era woke up and found she had transmigrated to the novel she had read all night. It was fine for her to transmigrate into the book, but why she had to become the vicious female supporting character? Her father was a traitor, her elder brother was a playboy, and she had already done all the bad things in her early years, so her road to saving her life was tough. The bossy male lead, the gentle second male lead, and the dashing third male lead belong to the female lead, and they were unrelated to her.

this is a novel that I would come back to reading!!!!

the FL is very self aware and smart, and bc she is who she is, she compels the other characters to truly get around the 2D of their own roles. The original FL is not s*upid and she just genuinely belongs to the novels timeline, she is smart but obviously not the same as our FL!!!!

i honestly was surprised with who turned out to be the ML, and I’m quite satisfied. She deserves him!!!

and the second ML deserves pity! Not... more>> compassion just pity! And I do understand him, but I want our FL to be happy.

the novel is not that long, so spoilers and summaries are not imperative!!! But this novel is not only about romance, it’s about humanity, family love and understanding, no overbearing justice of the modern world, no simple characterization, each one is their own person and they have their reasons. When I first started reading it I thought the FL was too OP, but as the story goes on, I realize even with all her intelligence she is still powerless. I think she is able to be this smart is bc she has pretty good understanding of the timeline and humans!! I love how she takes a step back to think about the situation before she immediately jumps into it. And how she integrates into the novels world and sees the others as survivors and living instead of 2D characters. <<less

Just came after finishing the drama and I literally cried like a baby.

I have never seen a more perfect transmigration drama and I've seen a lot. It was SOO good. Specially the villains. Like every villain was three dimensional and the angst just always hits the sweet spot here. I have such high expectations for this novel because the drama adaptation was FIREEEEE. It was so good that I binged watched tons of episodes at a time.

Props to the translator because mtl is super super hard for ancient setting novels... more>> like these so it's great that it's being translated. Some central differences are present ig in the novel and drama adaptation as noticed from the summary but still I absolutely adored the hints sprinkled in ample amount throughout the story that makes us keep ourselves at the edge of our seats.

The plot twists in general are reasonable, well thought out but the best selling point of this plot is just how fleshed out every single character is. I'm usually not a big fan of side cps but the plot was so good it made me legit root for every side cp ever. Most of the side cps were adorable. <<less

4/4.5 stars, I am undecided.

What I have most appreciated about this novel is the sense of uncertainty it conveys, making you constantly wonder how the plot will develop and whether the MC will have a happy or bad ending.

The MC is a very well written character, the author makes you really believe that she comes from the modern world. She constantly has to come to terms with the very different values of ancient society where the lives of ordinary people had very little value. She often feels powerless, being a... more>> woman and coming from a family that will soon lose influence and torn between contrasting feelings. She abhors her fat, s*upid and lustful brother and, at the same time, she cares for him because he always cares for her. She dislikes her father because he is an official who rose to power leaving a trail of crimes but at the same time she doesn't have the heart to expose his crimes.

She tries her best to survive without giving up her values of justice and self respect.

The ending is very bittersweet, but realistic and unavoidable giving how events unfold.

Another point I want to mention is the lack of info dumps about the original story of the novel the MC transmigrated into, which is really rare. Apart from the initial explanation of the when/how/why of the world the MC has fallen into, the novel focuses on how the MC's personal choices and spontaneous interactions build up her life.

So, why not giving 5 stars? Because the novel is too short, it deserved more chapters to fully create a stronger, emotional journey. Almost all major characters, from the brother, the husband, the "rival" female lead, are introduced, have a couple of well written scenes but aren't developed enough. It's probably because the author chose to tell the story only from the MC's POV but this choice, in my personal taste, weakened the overall reading experience. <<less

They had a scene about MC and heroine talking about justice and fairness considering whether it was right for the latter to scheme her good for nothing brother. And I was like wtf is this holy mother coming from when you both married a man who plays a big part of this system that force families to scheme and ruin others life to live a good life.

My head kept playing "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves" [EPIC: The Musical] and so I was a bit furious MC getting depressed and having to think hard about it. And because of that I love the recovery part and enlightenment.

Though I wish the author could have flesh out better the part when MC realize how important power was when she was struggling and why her father wanted it.

As to romance... honestly all man are bad ngl. The author did a great job explaining MC choice for ML. However for me, there was no need to make the 2ML that pitiful and that extra story with the potential love interest as it destroy the whole point of why he gave up...?

ML is the guy with the least power and not part of the Heroine's fishes-- the gguars.I love this better as I honestly find the other dudes love for MC as a bit forceful. MC's ex husband care for her due to misunderstandings and how she saved him. The emperor just find her different and so seemed to be easily hook up with "wild" ladies based on the extra chapter.

Which speaking of doesn't make sense as the end scene literally explains that the reason he can't choose MC is because the previous dynasty was ruined due to emperor favoring the Empress (resulting to her family getting full power). So him giving up and opening the harem means accepting this fact, so for it's all going to end tragically for the ladies wtf.

I was in it for the usual stereotypical female cannon fodder novel, however I could not resist and stayed for the plot. Well written and thought off, worth the time and effort. Thank you to the author and translator for your works and time.
