From these “holes” poured forth unknown monsters that ravaged people, cities, and even entire nations.

Everyone believed humanity had reached its end.

But then, the brave stood up.

The brave fought back against the monsters.

The brave leapt into the holes and discovered ways to resist the beasts.

The brave gave their lives fighting the creatures.

Eventually, the monsters’ surface invasion lost momentum, and humanity succeeded in driving them back underground.

It was the first great reckoning between humanity and the underworld.

The era before this was later known as the “Dawn Era,” and the once colloquial term “the underworld” came to be called simply the “Dungeon.”
