Song Li transmigrated into a cultivation novel as the villainous supporting character who bullied the female lead and was thrown into the Tower of Abandoned Infants by her own brother, dying at the hands of countless vengeful infant spirits.

Waking up in the Tower of Abandoned Infants and seeing countless crying spirits, Song Li declared, “I can be your mother.”

The infant spirits, who were about to kill her, froze. Merging together, they transformed into an adorable and beautiful little girl.

Song Li decided to stay away from the original female lead, earn money by refining pills, and live a carefree life as a rogue cultivator raising her “child.”

But unexpectedly…

“Are you really that famous merchant heir who spent fortunes on the female lead and handed over half a trading house to her?”

“I just healed one patient… turns out it was your brother. And now you don’t need to inherit the family business. Aren’t you happy about that?”

“Wait, are you the legendary Sword Spirit Body cultivator who paves the way for the female lead with your life? Why aren’t you interested in her? You even called her ugly? Could it be because I cured your chronic eye condition?”

“Hold on, are you the headstrong daughter of the Changming Sect Leader who was supposed to hand over the position to the female lead? What do you mean you’re not giving it away anymore? I didn’t mean to outshine you by making pills just to raise kids!”

The Three Cutivators:

Song Li: “The Eagle with Foresight”

Lu Yan: “The Tiger Guarding the Mountain”

Xiao Yunhan: “The Sword God Skilled in Battle”

The Three Jokers:

Song Li: “The Donkey Producing Goods”

Lu Yan: “The Barrel for Carrying Rice”

Xiao Yunhan: “The Lad Selling His Services”

Don't let the simple cover and rushed beginning make you give up on this novel. In my opinion, it's worth it. Here's Why:

After the first few chapters that were somewhat superficial in their explanations, the author outdoes themselves by focusing on their strengths. One of them is the ability to establish tension with a creative and well-written story that surprises just when you think you've seen all of what the story has to offer. Despite some moments when the writing isn't so inspiring, there are also several moments when the... more>> author exceeds expectations by breaking away from the usual molds of the genre.

The characters that seemed shallow at first gain depth, as does the bond between them.

Unlike what's usual for xianxia aimed at female audiences, you'll find in this novel a greater focus on friendship and adventure instead of strokes to the protagonist's ego, with everyone falling in love with her, or brainless enemies appearing all the time.

This story may not go into much detail about the cultivation and immortality system, but it manages to build a world that is not just a stage for the protagonist, but full of stories and interesting secrets to be explored.

The protagonist

She seemed like your typical cold, serious protagonist at first, but as the story unfolds, more of her traits naturally appear. She is proud, but not arrogant, serious, but has a sense of humor. She is fun to read about.

What sets it apart from others in the genre:

In this novel, you will find deep bonds between the characters outside of romance. Women defending women, a protagonist who does not stick to the "original story", cute comedy, but also moments of tension, satisfactory conclusions to arcs, and unlike most, despite having comedy, it is not just comedy, despite having gratifying scenes of revenge, it is not just about revenge, moments of drama, of overcoming, are also constructed which, together with some well-thought-out developments, manage to save this story from the generic box.

"If I have to complain to be fair" part:

As I mentioned, the beginning of the novel is not the best, and at some moments I felt like the author was a bit lazy with the justifications. You find these flaws especially when a arc started. I'm not even close to an expert, but to try to put it into words, I would say that the author knew what they wanted to say, and thye knew the story thry wanted to tell, and both were good. They just didn't know how to start. So although you had to ignore the drop in quality in the "beginnings"throughout the novel, later on it was worth it.

Other than that I would say that despite the title, the story doesn't seem to focus much on the mother-daughter relationship, at least until the part I read.

To summarize some things that can help you decide:

- The direction of the story will sometimes take you by surprise with the intensity that was put into just one arc or even in "passing" characters.

- The protagonist is op, but there is still tension and the individual arcs contain content instead of simple fillers.- The comedy doesn't take up all the space, and there are serious, sad, tense moments, and even a little bit of gore.

- Interesting characters

- There was an arc that reminded me a lot of the vibe of Coraline.

And lastly: If you like novels like "Ascending Do Not Disturb", I estimate a 70% chance of you liking this novel.

Don't get me wrong, the author "Butterfly's Shadow Beneath the Moon" is my favorite c-novel author, so it's hard to compare, especially because I feel like the author of this novel is more inexperienced, so I'm not saying you will like it as much as you like Butterfly's Shadow Beneath the Moon's works, but there are several similarities between the two. Like the light comedy that manages to take away unnecessary stress instead of using rage bait, or the fact that you'd like to be friends with the characters of both authors. And also, the soul that is put into the narrative that takes you by surprise when you were convinced that this was a simple story. In addition, there is also an unpretentious pinch of social criticism, which I love.

Anyway, maybe if you're also a fan of the author of "Butterfly's Shadow Beneath the Moon", you'll also see the similarities between him and the author of "The Supporting Female Cultivator Makes Pills Just to Raise Kids", or maybe I'm tripping, but I think it's worth trying to read and see for yourself. <<less

Good transmigration comedy xiaxia novel. No serious killing of the wild or second generation arrogant young master.

Good novel IF the translator pay some attention to his work ! The name & s*x of character, place, sect, etc are carelessly used as if copy & paste directly from MTL !

The best of this novel is not much word filling as other mainstream xianxia novels. Each chapter is properly long. The whole story is less than 700 chapters.

The worst is its title. The children have no role at all. They and the FL's relationship are next to none. <<less

I knew this novel would be a great time early on—around the time Lu Yan and Xiao Yunhan, our resident pair of Those Two Guys with barely a braincell between them, did the mental math and realized that for Lili to have a biological child as old as Chensheng at 15, some s*umbag would've had to have seduced her when she was only eleven. Which, in turn, made them promptly decide that as soon as they figure out who the beast in question is, he's getting pummeled. (They also mistakenly... more>> identify Lu Yan's older brother as the culprit, because it's night when they're following the two and Yunhan is, at this time, still blind as a bat... but that's besides the point.) (Once the cat's out of the bag about Chensheng's identity, they're also more relieved than anything else—simply because while her daughter being a Spirit of Grievances means Lili certainly has A Story they aren't privy to, it also means that she, at the very least, did not go through what they had imagined she has.)

I haven't MTL'd this to completion at the time I'm writing this review, but what I've read so far, I really like. Lili is a very endearing protagonist; while she truly only cares about living well with her daughter, she is not closed off to the world or unaccepting of the people who come to form a makeshift family around her. She's powerful, yes, especially for someone with a relatively low level of cultivation, but reasonably so—a large part of what makes her so strong is that she's clever, studious, and not above relying on tricks or adopting techniques which blur the line between 'righteous' and 'unorthodox'. Lu Yan and Xiao Yunhan have something of that timeless Red Oni-Blue Oni dynamic to them, and it's truly so much fun watching this chaos trio grow and grow closer. (And beyond them, the entire Loose Cultivator Alliance is filled with oddballs, which I personally really enjoy in my ensemble casts. They're one big, unhinged family.)

Is this the best-written novel of its kind? No, certainly not.

But it's great for what it is: a story about a bunch of misfits who, through a combination of sheer grit, dumb luck, and the pure friendship that binds them, will someday carve a legend on their world.

It's a good time-killer, if nothing else. :] <<less

This story is written well but it has no direction, just a jumbled mass of random events and filler content that feels rushed and forced. I found myself skipping a lot of chapters because it's just boring filler crap I don't care about.

The whole raising a daughter story is almost completely sidelined the entire time and it just becomes a mediocre xianxia novel with little substance.

Characters are well written but they are introduced and dropped frequently to the point you don't even have time to enjoy a character before you're... more>> in an entirely different story setting. <<less

The pacing and the emotional shifts in the narrative can be quite jarring. But overall its a fairly entertaining story that generally leans towards comedy but also sometimes veers hard into melodrama or tragedy. The reviewer below feels like they read a different novel, perhaps they are confused?

The events are anything but random, all of them lead naturally on from one another and proceed logically with the overarching narrative of building up the Rogue Cultivators Alliance. There are no "filler chapters", which is a nonsense phrase in general but its... more>> particularly s*upid here when the pacing often adopts an almost slice of life style. Also if you "skipped lots of chapters" how would you know anything about their content? Galaxy brain stuff

Her daughter is a constant throughline for the novel and apart from large arcs entirely about her she is also important to the plot. She is not always of the focus of the novel, that bit is through. As for the subjective value judgements on the quality of the story, I'd disagree.

The last comment really makes it feel like the reviewer didnt read the novel. One of the novel things about this is the fact that despite having a large cast of secondary characters they are kept around. Other novels in the genre often have a character for an arc and drop them. But here characters keep on popping back up in later arcs and get progressively more fleshed out.

Obviously no one has to like the novel, personally I think its above average but I'm not gushing over it but some stuff is just objectively wrong, as outlined above <<less
