Shen QingShu, 22, died in an accident. His biggest regret before his death was that he’d been single all his life. He obviously wasn’t a monk, but he’d never eaten meat.

Then, when he opened his eyes, he saw a handsome, self-assured man standing before him. The handsome man parted his thin lips slightly and asked, “Wanna have a one-night stand?”

Shen QingShu didn’t hesitate at all. “Let’s do it! Twice!”

The next morning, Shen QingShu woke up aching all over. Only then did he discover he’d transmigrated into a book. The handsome guy beside him who’d gone two rounds with him was the protagonist gong, Han Cheng, the second son of the Han Group.

And the original owner of this body was just a disliked, death-seeking cannon fodder.

Shen QingShu: …Well, this is f*cking awkward.

But Shen QingShu didn’t panic. Anyway, he was just a cannon fodder. He figured they’d part in a few days

He knew he was a tool man, a character who only existed to develop the plot.

-Half a year later-

Shen QingShu looked at the man next to him and wondered: It’s been more than six months. Why hasn’t he left already?

Until the day he saw the protagonist shou and Han Cheng meet by accident.

Tool man Shen QingShu immediately felt the call of duty. Eyes shining, he prepared to push the plot forward.

“Don’t come looking for me in the future.” Shen QingShu was extremely self-aware.

Han Cheng was shocked. “Why? Do you have feelings for someone else? Who is it?”

Shen QingShu: … Darling, this reaction isn’t quite right.

“I don’t accept this,” Han Cheng said, furious. “One day as husband and wife means a hundred days of grace. Can you even calculate how much grace we have?”

Shen QingShu: … No, wait, what are you talking about? It’s not like I’m your wife. I’m just a tool man, and it’s time for me to go offline!

However, Shen QingShu found that not only did the protagonist gong refuse to let him go offline, he was going to make him his bride!

Shen QingShu: I’m crying.

This couple was absolutely made for each other.

Their banter, their affection, their honesty, and their mutual care for each other. Just *chef's kiss*. Truly an idiots-to-lover trope but done so so well.

You'll be stuffed with dog food but you'll devour it willingly. And you'll eat it while laughing. I don't think I've laughed so much while reading a novel.

This is the second novel I've read from this author and another reviewer mentioned that the author loves to write about doting MLs, but Han Cheng takes the cake. He's perfect in... more>> everyway, but not in a way where you roll your eyes. He's truly a product of his upbringing. And in the same way Shen Qingshu is (his life before the transmigration), thus they really do share the same values which makes their relationship constantly grow and in a healthy way. And they truly want the best for each other. They consistently encourage the other to grow and appreciate what the have, whether it's career (Han Cheng never stops Shen Qingshu from taking a role no matter how jealous he is) or family (Shen Qingshu always tells him ito spend time more time with family even if it means leaving him alone for a holiday).

The story goes how you'd expect it to go but without the kind of drama you expect. There's definitely drama but every hurdle they face is really just an opportunity for them to show the different ways they care for each other and why they ultimately decide the other person is their soulmate.

Because the ML is the O!ML I was worried about how they'd handle the O!MC. But this novel does a great job of handling the O!MC's character without turning him into a second-rate villain.

Overall I highly recommend it. Someone mentioned that the translations may need a bit of editing, but it's leagues better than MTLs and the translator provides a lot of context and background, especially since a lot of the jokes require the text to be almost verbatim for it to carry.

Yes, it's long, and yet, I kind of wish it didn't end. <<less

well it started off well, the MC's personality was funny but as it progresses it goes from funny to ridiculous and unnecessary, for example he is filming a movie and the secondary characters come to annoy him clearly he can do something but he doesn't, he starts acting as if had no backing, very unnecessary and boring, he also starts to fake plays left and right, for example, he is accused of breeding a snake, clearly not so he can slap people revealing that the snake is from the main... more>> star of the show but instead he goes on to create a whole dog blood drama about being wronged, letting himself be insulted and even getting the star to cooperate with him. Is it really necessary to be so ridiculous? I don't understand, and his behavior no longer makes me laugh, it's boring to see him offended all the time... <<less

Am I the only one who absolutly adore Han Yu? He is the best elder brother and so hilerious! And the company aunties are also to die for!

The MC & ML are cute and fluffy and do give regulary candy! But the novel is so outstanding b/c of the rich side characters and the comedy. And what I also really like is that there is NO s*upid misunderandings between out love birds! They do know how to communicate!!! O.O And the relationship is balanced, not like in the s*upid novel... more>> novel where poor Han Cheng has to put up with all of the previous protagnist s*upidity and unwillingness to coperate!

An enjoyable read even if the main plot is not to outstanding! Recommended! <<less

This novel is a good choice if you are looking for an easy read to wind down; it's both hilarious and fluffy. It doesn't really bring anything new to the table if you are an old-time reader and you are familiar with the switched at birth, showbiz, and transmigration themes but it will make you feel good if you like a couple that actually communicates and has good dynamics.

I'm knocking off a star from the rating because I'll be stopping my journey with this book at ch.142. I was entertained... more>> all the way up to this chapter and there's nothing in particular I can point to that makes me drop the story, I can only say that I'm feeling it's 213 + 59 extras chapter count. At this point the adopted brother has been dealt with, and I can barely believe this feat was accomplished legally, it's so rare to happen with this trope. Although there are still some steps left to take in the main characters' relationship, the story already feels complete enough to me that I don't feel this burning need to know what comes after. I guess there's still MC's career to develop but I've read enough showbiz themed novels to not be interested in that. <<less

The novel up to chapter 135 is more like 4 stars. Chapter 135 would have been a great place to end the story, with a couple of fluffy extras it would have been great. The author kept going and I increasingly got bored.

I didn't understand the other reviewers dislike/confusion of him writing until the later chapters, it really does come out of left field.

Spoiler

his first novel is BL mpreg smut and he aquires a loyal following, the next book is about a sweet campus love BL story, then all of a sudden he writes a masterpiece crime drama with no cp that gets made into a movie..... like wtf he just randomly writes and it's so good it becomes that great.

Not to mention I was not a fan of him using ML's identity to hide that he is the writer, or that he locks away his first novel because it's too embarrassing, have some balls man. Also that was the whole point of having 2 accounts so what happened there? It's even mentioned that the 2nd account is the one that wrote the crime drama but somehow it's linked to the car account?

[collapse]

Also the comedy in the begining which was fun has now become tiring. I got to chapter 170 and just couldn't care to go on. I loved the ML but the MC was mediocre, I can't exactly pinpoint what I didn't like but he was just not my type.

The translation is great. I got impatient and read the MTL which for the most part is understandable, some parts I was a little lost. If you can wait I would say stick with the translation, the translator does a great job explaining things. <<less

Highly recommended.

The interactions between MC and ML and with other characters are so f-ing funny🤣🤣🤣. Oh My God.

Read it. Read it. Read it.

Do you like 'possesive' ML who would give MC 'cage', lock MC in 'small black room', etc??? Then READ THIS!! If you don't like that kind of ML, then READ THIS!! I am serious😶

This story also contains 'white moonlight', 'spare-tire', 'fake/real young master', 'original mc', I mean anything you could think of... I am serious😶

WAHHHHHH, Qingqing and Chengcheng really fed me full of dog food. I really enjoyed this novel so I'm giving it 5 stars despite its flaws. I'd just share my observations of this novel in my review. PROS:

I really liked that there were no s*upid misunderstandings between the main couple. Chengcheng is a very silly gong but that's whats differentiates him from the other overbearing CEO gongs.

Spoiler

I feel like his brother would fit the stereotype of powerful, cold and overbearing CEO gongs but Han Yu was also a bit silly and very passionate towards his family.

[collapse]

I definitely recommend this novel to anyone who loves mutual pampering gong-shou relationships where neither side falls in love instantly and chases the other while the other partner is very indecisive and inactive in the relationship. I really love their dynamics. They both love each other and show it in their oen ways. Qingqing is def not like those usual naive and white lotus shous who don't take initiative. Make no mistake, they are a powerful pair.

I also liked that there were no uncessary face slappings in this novel. The MC wasn't that invested in revenge and doesn't really suppress the villains unless they provoke him first.
Spoiler

If they do provoke him, he just uses his sharp tongue and wit to make them choke in anger lol

[collapse]

CONS:

The villains were a bit two- dimensional but they did serve their purpose in making the story flow better and developing the main leads relationship. Some scenes were a bit too dramatic and unrealistic, I would def prefer if those scenes were less exaggerated. One or two of those scenes are okay but too much and even I got a bit annoyed by it.

Such a fluffy read. The perfect guide for a couple in a relationship. They both understand that communication is important, no selfish assumption without checking with the other. I love their staged dramas which were just to annoy annoying parties, and I loved how ML's friends getting back on him once they heard one of the 'scenarios' he had staged before (they don't know it was fake), lol~

I don't usually like something too fluffy, But such a healthy and fluffy relationship, I just cannot skip it. All in all, it... more>> was a very enjoyable and interesting read. <<less

Omg. I never thought that this title of a novel can have such a sweet love story.

At first it was as expected, very funny with a predictable storyline. Then it turned into a mushy-tooth-decaying love story. We as single dogs can only enjoy the dog food lol.

10/10. Didn't expect to cry (touched btw not because of sadness) for such a funny novel title. ChenQing forever!!

First of all, what you need to know is that this story is really similar to another author's work entitled "Reborn As The Villain President's Lover..." But this story (The Supporting Male Character Just Wants to Be a Tool Man) is much better written.

So if you have difficulty deciding which one to read first between these two stories, or maybe u have already read this story as a first... then I will not recommend u to read Reborn As The Villain President's Lover again.

It's because "Reborn As The Villain President's... more>> Lover again" Is really like the cheap version of this story + they have a lot of plot hole and rushing a lot of things.

How do I know this??? It's simply because I had read Reborn As The Villain President's Lover, before I finally read this story.

And if only I had read this story first, then I definitely wouldn't have been able to read Reborn As the Villain President's Lover, considering that the two stories have very similar stories.

The only different is Reborn As the Villain President's Lover was completed with a lot of flaws, while this story in comparison was completed with very well written plot and ending. <<less

dropping this. lost interest midway through.

bad points

    • the novel drags too much. should have ended much earlier
    • too much wife and sister-in-laws wording even for me who usually likes it
    • villains are too s*upid
    • evil adopted (originally poor background) child concept is too cliche and classism
Spoiler

I also didn't like how Wu Ying goes after his barely legal younger stepbrother, bxg... not my cup of tea (it was implied he liked bxg since bxg was 15?, I can't remember how old wu Ying is) and soured the entire novel for me

[collapse]

good points

    • absolutely hilarious, especially if you know chinese slang / net culture
    • the novel/drama/film stories are fun to read
    • very fun personality filled ML and MC
    • everyone in this drama possesses DRAMA spirits lol

Well... this story isn't bad; it was fun, especially in the beginning. But at a certain point, it became so tiring and repetitive. I believe for this novel to be really good, it should have half the chapters.

But in a way, I've read other stories by this same author, and the author always creates something extremely mild with characters who have a few brain cells less.

This story depends more on whether this is the type of comedy you like. In my case, it only worked for me until halfway through.

I... more>> apologize for the mistakes; English is not my first language. <<less

Hilarious! If the story wasn't so funny, it would be too cringe, but the humor makes everything flow. I keep laughing as I read. I particularly like the interactions between ML and his brother. That sort of teasing, yet loving brotherly relationship is rare to see done right. Usually loving brothers are portrayed as overly doting. I love the teasing!

My favourite couple so far. Both ML and MC are so good for each other 😭. It's greasier than other greasy BL novels I've read so far.

One thing I'm not quite satisfied with is that the face slapping isn't slapping hard enough. I wish it could've been crueler especially with MC's "brother".

ML is so cute and doting and everything I want in a partner. So happy for MC for being with someone that loves him 110% 😭💖

Overall fluffy, no drama (except for the obvious family drama)

The story itself is really good!! But sometimes the chapters feel as though there are parts missing where it’ll skip from one scene to the next. This mostly happens after the 100 chapters point but it’s irritating. This novel is super entertaining and the car & driver thing is funny, a bit repetitive but still funny and it acts as an inside joke for the couple making them seem more like a couple. I stopped reading before end bc the novel seemed like it was wrapping up a bit too... more>> slow for my tastes after an already slow burn. But overall a good novel <<less

An absolutely hilarious ride with a genuinely healthy and sweet relationship, face-slapping, smart characters, and so much more. Don't expect much from the villains though. They are kinda s*upid.

It's a really smooth sail, to be honest. I mean the protagonists act like a couple even when they are in a friend-with-benefits relationship. It's kinda s*upid how neither of them realised that they like the other even though they act so sweet with each other.

The one I want to talk about is ML's brother. Brother of the year right here people!... more>> He is such a good brother. And he acts as a real older brother would. Teasing his brother by recording embarrassing videos of him and threatening to show them to his parents and MC if he doesn't praise him to heaven, helping him when needed the most and always worrying about where his brother became poor after he stopped giving him pocket money. Love this guy!!

I do feel like the novel kinda overstayed its welcome. I mean if you at the other works of the author you can see they like it long. It should have ended when the MC celebrated his 23rd birthday and maybe some more chapters could have been used to tie up loose threads. But I don't hate the fact it went longer. The characters are so lovable and so funny that you just wish it would last a little longer. I do hope there would be more chapters on Ml's brother, Bai Xuege and his brother, Cui Hao and his golden master, etc.

I will update again after I completed this novel. <<less

Actually at the beginning of the story HC (ml) and SQS (mc) have a fun and funny relationship. The SQS family after transmigration is very brainless and weird, but I can still tolerate it because this is one of the author's works that I love.

HC takes good care of SQS and always supports him, even though he initially didn't support SQS's career in entertainment but he understands that he can't manage other people's lives. This is a light and funny story, almost 60 more chapters are needed before SQS is... more>> really shown to deepen his acting career which he loved and dedicated in his previous life and his intentions in this life.

And to be honest, I felt bored when the SQS suddenly wrote bunch of story about him and HC that I thought was too sudden for the characters, and the further I read the story the more boring I felt. The development is a bit messy with the flow of stories I usually read from the same author and this is probably the lowest rated story I can give.

Normally I could re-read Li Anshi other story for 2-3 times, but maybe not for this one. <<less
