This is a very sweet novel! I read up to the 12 translated chapters and then MTLed the rest of it.

AxA (Alpha x Alpha) pairings are my favorite ABO novels because they're just so rare! There's always some A turning into an O or they were an O all along or something, so it's great when the CP are actually both A (and stay as A lol).

As the title says, MC and ML both start off hating/disliking each other due to a bad first meeting.

MC considers himself to be the... more>> typical straight A who likes O.

ML likes A, but MC doesn't know and thinks they're both straight. Cue oblivious and questioning MC.

There's a lovely amount of hurt/comfort what with the whole 'they can't be apart from each other during the susceptible period' and school fights, and both characters have their moments as a 'damsel in distress' (so it's not the ML constantly saving the MC). I particularly like how ML goes from being frosty and cold to caring for MC. It's a short novel, so the progression of their relationship from 'enemies' to friends is a bit fast but still reasonably paced.

The dynamic between them also reminds me of Saye! ML transfers into a new school, was the top student at his old school, and keeps running into the MC - they're desk mates, they're next-door neighbors, and their pheromone are compatible despite both being A. MC even calls the ML 'xuebai' at one point hehe.

It feels like one of those tender coming-of-age novels where the characters have their own circumstances during which they let themselves be vulnerable and open up to each other. This novel doesn't delve too deeply into those issues, I'd say the blooming friendship and romance between the main characters is the focus. I will say some events seem to happen out of nowhere with little buildup, but this isn't meant to be a complex or deep novel. Again, it's very sweet, and it's on the shorter side, so it was a fun read. An easy four stars from me. <<less

An almost identical situation as Is there anything wrong with Alpha marking Alpha. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

We get the big guy Alpha, though in this case our MC is not good at studying lol. Both are poor, but here our MC isn't that good at fighting and instead spends his time live-streaming for money. We get the ML suddenly transferring in from a big city and becoming his deskmate, and ofc the ML is the same height as the MC, strong, and a top student. Both the... more>> MC and ML have trauma or painful pasts and are suffering from those repercussions, and through this they have chances to mutually comfort each other in their darkest times.

This story uses the trope of the MC having Omega insensitivity syndrome and the two of them suddenly having some sort of Alpha compatibility syndrome to make it so that the MC and ML have to stick together closely. Thus forcing two people who inexplicably became enemies bc the ML didn't like the MC's pheromones to interact more closely with each other. Not to mention that the ML randomly became the MC's neighbor.

Our ML has really gone through a lot. His so called parents are actual villains, I really can't imagine how he managed to survive what was inflicted on him. Fortunately he met the MC, a ball of sunshine who also has major depression. The process by which they get together is pretty rough though, our MC here is nowhere as accepting of his feelings as in Alpha marking Alpha. He's a straight man through and through and repeatedly denies his feelings, making it so that everyone else could obviously see it but he kept on insisting otherwise. When he eventually opens his eyes though, he shows no shame in openly clinging to and expressing his love, which does make up a bit for his failures in the past.

Overall your standard coming of age love story between two Alphas. Cute but nothing too groundbreaking. <<less

I never expected how much I would end up loving this story.

When they got hurt I felt their pain, when they achieved their goals I celebrated with them, these characters really grew on my. Reading this High School dramas (specially when I am months away from my own graduation) is always going to get to my feelings.

Back to the story, it has great depth, lovable characters, profound topics (mental health, grief, h*mophobia and ultimately getting better), and THE CHEMISTRY DAMN. The MC and ML BOTH grew on me, definitely a... more>> couple I will not forget easily. Its about comfort, about getting better, supporting each other and all of that.

It is pretty similar to "Is there anything wrong with alpha marking alpha", so if you liked that one read this, and if you liked this read that one (thank me later).

Overall, great translations (the food images got me hungry tho...), great story, extras where amazing, and ALPHA X ALPHA YESSSS.

Only TW that idk why isn't included in the tags is that there is a mention of conversion therapy, and the scene IS described, so yeah, mind that. Also, although it is not central to the narrative both characters had to deal with mental health issues, like physical and psychological ab*se, SH and suicidal thoughts, and the loss of their parents... so also beware. Again, it is not central, but it does happen, so yeah. (I think the way the author managed it was amazing, so don't let this discourage you)
