The flawed heir of the esteemed tiger tribe, Cheon Ryubeom, the blemish of the celestial realm. He faces persecution and scorn from his clan due to being the offspring of a runaway heir and a human, enduring mockery and disdain. After failing in fox hunting and disrupting an important clan assembly, Cheon Ryubeom is on the brink of being expelled from the clan when he is given the task of solving strange phenomena nationwide as his last chance.

Approached by Yeohwi, a kind and affectionate fox anthropomorphic, who offers to help him, Cheon Ryubeom hesitates due to the antagonistic relationship between the tiger and fox tribes, but he finds himself increasingly curious about Yeohwi…

The time spent with Yeohwi changes Cheon Ryubeom. He eagerly grows, willing to believe and follow anything he says. Amidst the chaos, Yeohwi becomes Cheon Ryubeom’s anchor.

An immersive, captivating modern fantasy that follows MC as an isolated and sheltered scion of the tiger clan saving a fox, despite the fox and tiger clans' long-standing enmity. When MC is tasked with quelling the strange, dark phenomena happening around Korea in order to avoid being expelled from his clan, the fox offers his assistance in gratitude, and a bond is formed.

The supernatural phenomena MC and ML confront are uniquely mysterious and engrossing, often heartbreaking too - and I'd say that was what really drew me in. The stories... more>> are mostly about lingering resentment and the emotions that lie buried under the hatred and anger from an unjust situation, and MC's unique brand of reckless, muscley, but insightful shonen-protagonist idealism in handling them makes him both endearing and sometimes frustrating to watch.

His thought processes develop as he goes from a sheltered cub who knew only the precepts of his clan to experiencing and seeing how people really live outside, and these lessons shape his decisions by the end. There are plenty of plot twists, some more obvious than others, but the story is constantly moving at a good pace.

As for the romance, the dynamic between the main couple is really interesting, lots to chew on! I won't get into it because of spoilers, but there's a lot of dramatic irony here that grabs you by the throat and you just keep reading, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Makes for a fun reading experience.

This would be great as a manhwa. There are some scenes that are just begging for a visual adaptation. Overall, I loved it and would highly recommend!

My few nitpicks:

Spoiler
    • Why are these 20-something year old cousins of MC acting like 12 year old bullies? Like, this baffles me so much and it + MC's naive idealism sometimes made me feel like they were teens.
    • MC feels like he has a bit of a personality change into an even more potent shonen protagonist near the end. Maybe that's just his character development in finding hope and happiness after reuniting with his dad and falling in love or whatever, but he kind of felt like a different person.
    • ML swoops in to save his damsel way too often haha. I get why, and it makes sense given their respective strengths especially in the beginning, but it was noticeable. It did get better after MC developed more skills though. But ML is like
      a little too OP!
    • I want ML to grovel more. MC doesn't bc he's better than me, but I want more visceral regret for his manipulations (and nearly turning MC into a walking bomb of death, hello!) He very clearly does regret it and is devoted to MC after the fact, but like
      I want MC to be a little more petty hahaha.

This novel's super good! It's has a somewhat slow start, but a lot of interesting events happen later on! The MC is also strong-willed and determined in this one, I was pleasantly surprised by the things he did (and choices he made) towards the end!
