It just shows that there might be some resentment towards each other but it's not to the point that they'll kill each other (like how other imperial princes scheme and kill each other every now and then). Also, Emperor Changlong's treatment of his sons is clearly reflected with their attitude towards him. His sons can throw tantrums, act spoiled, and be unrestrained in front of him. Also, let me also mention how he treats his harem. He's not lustful, in fact, I doubt that he loves any of them. More like he's being responsible to them and giving them the respect that they deserve. He doesn't treat them as a plaything which he can discard after being bored. Especially when Concubine Lin betrayed him, I was touched by how he remembers and respected Concubine Lin when the latter said that her surname is precious because her father gave it to her (although she's lying in order to get his attention). He didn't favor nor neglect any of them. Just look at how those consorts plot against each other (sometimes) but never thought of colluding with the enemy and harming their empire (except for one). They are all cute and sensible (except for that surname Lin).
