In a stallion novel there is always a Senior Martial Brother like this:

In the early stages of the novel, his innate talent is high, his cultivation is good, his appearance is handsome, and he has an intelligent, cute younger Martial Sister as a fiancée.

In the middle stages of the novel, he is caught unprepared and defeated by a young disciple (the protagonist) in the sect who’s hardly remarkable at all. From then on, he falls from his godly altar and loses his brilliance. Even his young Martial Sister leaves him for someone else.

In the late stages of the novel, he continues to blackened, going down the Demonic Path and becoming the major villainous boss. However, the protagonist still ruthlessly defeats him and his soul is eternally sealed.

Once Qin Mo opened his eyes, he discovered that he had become this Senior Martial Brother.

Nothing new. Typical clueless MC and manipulative ML. However, in this novel, the ML's actions were particularly off-putting. The first part of the novel was bearable but later on, every chapter just left me fuming.

So very disappointed with this story that I could cry.

Firstly, it started out so well. The premise was outstanding, the foreshadowing was intriguing, the world building started out so good, then the plot holes started appearing. These holes multiplied and became bigger and bigger and never got filled. Why would the author drop out so many hints and introduced so many fascinating characters and potential revenge ideas from hidden characters then just left all of these amazing stuff in their halfbaked forms just to rot away while the (empty) story... more>> ran away in a neverending sequence of fights and more fights with increasingly powerful whatnots. It's just so sad. I'd just finished the outstanding "The s*um Villain's Self-Saving System" which talked about the importance of filling in plot holes then I got to this story. Despite the amazing translations, this story itself is too much of a disappointment. <<less

Quite the typical plot to this genre, but very action-forward. Big props to the translators, having to go through all the action sequences and terminology. To follow this novel you kindof just have to accept what's happening and not question it, otherwise it's rather confusing as things just keep happening...

... So in one section, MC gets kidnapped to the demon realm, and in ML's basement they get s**ked down into a pool, ending up in an ice prison in a different dimension (?). An old guy picks them up and they go to save his son from a 'dark cavern'...

Basically the plot makes no sense if I were to describe it, but if you just read it at face value you should be able to follow along.

It's pretty much fighting throughout, and the focus is on Qin Mo (MC) alone with very few interactions with Lin ZiZheng (ML) for the first half of the novel. As a yandere, ML doesn't make much of an impact, then suddenly goes ham at one point (the r*pe) towards the end. <<less

I was gonna rate it 1-star but then I enjoyed the first part of the story so I made it 2... and then another star for the translator...

It was there in the tag and usually I don't mind it since it's just a story, but WHOA.. I CANNOT OVERLOOK IT THIS TIME.. Dashixiong, I just wanna protect you...

It was satisfying that in its last chapter, he didn't end up with him right away and said that he won't love him... although there were some hints there since ML did "die" for him.. In the bonus chapters, he did soften on him again so they'd end up together

um... wow where do I start

i've never written reviews before, but I just have to rant about this one a bit.

i really, really, really like transmigration novels and yandereish characters--- they make for really fun backstories, and fun characters to see how they react and act to their environment, but to me, Lin Zizheng was really off and was just... obsessive and possessive for no reason. I honestly dont understand how that obsession with Qin Mo came to be, too. did it materialize out of thin air? I think the... more>> author forgot to write a reason as to how our ML fell in love with our MC.

the writing is kind of crappy, and the author forgets what they write, and the plot points are... well, kind of nonexistent. no character other than our MC and ML stay on screen for more than a few chapters, like, giving them one chapter of screentime is generous. it doesn't help that they're all one dimensional, and sometimes not even given names.

And I was also heavily disappointed for the transmigration aspect. After the first chapter, it was forgotten about and tossed to the side to rot. I know I completed it out of boredom and curiousity for what happened next in the nth plot point, but man... I think I wasted my time.

Overall, it's very poorly written, at least from my perspective, with very inconsistent plots. <<less

Chrysanthemum garden= quality translation. It is good as always. So kudos to translator.

Alright. At first I always skipped that novel because rating was rather low. Then I decided to check it out and synopsis seemed interesting. I have read review about r*pe and dub con. Not my favourite trope but I really like those morally twisted characters because they are more interesting than those ice cube CEO types. And honestly at least half of BL novels have tags r*pe victim becomes lover or straight uke.

I thought, damn I probably... more>> skipped a gem. Need to read it now.

It is bad.

So much cliche.

MC can't even take a piss without meeting at least one demonic cultivator or having fortuitous encounter.

As always everyone is dumb. It is not several hundred years old genius cultivator throwing a tantrum because someone looked at him the wrong way. But it is acting like a 20 years olds who just entered adult world in our peaceful 21 century and not someone who lived in dog eat dog world.

Spies are buried deep into whatever its name sect. They sent letters to all major sects. They caught inner disciple of an elder. You would think they would be cautious about what they eat or drink there. I, as a woman who traveled alone, am more cautious than that. Suddenly clan leaders received summon that was f*cking suspicious and unusual. They all didn't send anyone to inquire about that or whatever cultivation bullsh*t way of swift communication. In first chapters the dude sent urgent message to clan leaders who appeared five minutes after. So we know such things do exist.

And what all leaders do when they receive an obviously suspicious letter. -They sent all their cherished disciples alone...

Are you for real?

Another dud. The first part is actually kind of fun but but midway it starts to become like a chore to read. The relationship in the end is disappointing.... I don't know why the author did that to ML. If you are reading this for romance, don't bother. There's no payoff. Almost wonder if the author was joking with there author's note at the end. After ending it that way and going all "teehee~ this is the end of the novel!^^" could.... trigger someone with less restraint than me to... more>> anger (Assuming that is from the actual author and not the translators. Translators you actually did a great job. Thank you).

This actually reminds me quite a bit of Legendary Master's Wife except you don't get that epic power couple standing atop the rest of the world as you were expecting. Especially considering the absurd amount of fighting and action scenes, we never even see them reach their peak.... Honestly. And also except for the cohesive writing. The world hopping in LMW was fun, you spent a good amount of time in each world and they didn't move on to a different place until there was at least a good amount of resolution in the one they were at. Not in this novel.

My mood finishing this was pure "meh" but at least it's better than that last one I read where the bottom was miserably forced to be with the top till the very end and just resigned himself to it.

Also, like I saw another reviewer say, this fic really was like 90% action scenes. Now that they brought it up, that is another issue of mine. Mid-way through I literally just started skimming over paragraphs without reading. That's why I found it a chore to read. <<less

It was good at first... prob up to around chaps 40 ish.

I really did like it indeed, it built up some really good intrigue, with the transmigration, and not too much overwhelming information all at once. The translating was very well done yes, but most of the time, the plot is ehh afterwards. There's no in-depth stories, and characters eventually go MIA.

I just finished the novel and... ALMOST 90 PERCENT OF IT WAS ACTION SCENE, at some point I wanted to puke. okay there might be or should be some action scenes at this kind of novels and I'm not against it but... this is TOO MUCH that I started to skip those scenes...

seriously, it might have been a great novel if it wasn't wasted like that. :' (

So I was thinking of catching up to this novel since it is finished.

Actually I really liked the start of this novel, premise of ML even if liking MC, but still making him outcast was novel. Then MC going on his own betrayed by ML made me wonder how this can even be patched up into love?

However, at this turning point... it goes downhill. We are introduced to new charas who may want to be friends of MC, but then they are captured and we never hear of them (that’s... more>> just sad) cause for some (confusing for me reason) ML and MC ended up in another world? dimension? Over all, I was very confused and everything started to get messy. I didn’t get to other ‘arcs’ or ‘rape’ tag since I decided to read reviews if it gets better. It seems it doesn’t so even thought I extremely rarely do this, it’s going into my dropped novels bin.

The reasons I gave 3 stars to this novel: 1) translations; 2) I didn’t finished it and stopped at perfect place where it’s not completely ruined for me. <<less

Great story. Not sure why the rating is below 4. Id have thought it would be higher, the plot was interesting, fights were exciting, was not bored and didn't feel like skipping anything. The MC was cool too. Its true there was r*pe involved but thats part of the setting and plot so I dont see anything wrong with it. I dont think its fair to rate it less based on that...

Though I gotta admit I wasnt too sure about the ending at 1st. Thought they would have merged but... more>> after reading the 2 extras im quite satisfied. I really enjoyed the story. Wish it wss longer even, I would have enjoyed reading more about their cultivation and growing in power, their adventures... <<less

I have read this before but the translation isn't completed yet so I waited.

Looking at tbe reviews, dunno what to feel. There will always be a bad thing in something. However, I'll trust myself and read this from beginning now that the translation was completed.

Reasons for reading this: one, it is xianxia.

Two, I already read this before until around chapter 30 or 40 and as I remember so far, it is good. ML might br yandere-ish but hey. For someone who has a tragic past, who wouldn't blacken? Even someone... more>> who has a good life but when felt envious, they blacken. ML's attitude is rational.

Three, the translators. They are one of the good translators for me with a great quality of translation. King of Classical Music, I am waiting for you to finish! Oh. Death Progress Bar is also interesting~ waiting for it, too~ <<less

What a shame, this story is really² have good main plot and good side character, but they just ruined all... There is a lot of things not finished, even the main plot is not finished... and all other chara is just gone like they never exist... 😭😭😭😭😭 (three star for the translation and half of the first plot)

This story contains r*pe. Beware. Despite this, the story was generally good. There are some plot holes, but it doesn’t affect the main story much. It’s sad that the author turned it into a r*pey thing, because the ML would’ve earned MC’s heart in the end.

The good thing was that ML really seemed to truly love the MC (besides being obsessed with him). The fact that he could everytime sacrifice everything for him was kind of sweet.

Is this novel good? No not really.

Do I still like it for some reason? Have I still read it multiple times? Yes.

the plot is a total mess and incoherent. Onstead of a sensible, overarching plot, it is a bunch of interconnected, unrelated events. These events occur from the MC and ML randomly running into people, or a random new group of cultivators showing up out of nowhere. The cultivation aspects are a mess, and the fight scenes are generally pretty boring.

The most interesting aspect is the relationship between the MC... more>> and the ML, and it is not healthy. The ML treats the MC very poorly (look at the tags). But, the MC still cares deeply for the ML due to their past (he protected the ML when he was a child, and they were close before the ML betrayed him).

I think this novel has the potential to be so much better. Even though I can't romantically ship them, the relationship between the ML and MC truly is interesting and in some ways deeply tragic.

the r*pe, for me, was far too brutal and ruined the potential for me to want them romantically together. The ML is also a creep, and does many things that are creepy (drinking MCs blood, for example). I think their relationship was destined to not work out, because the MLs unstable nature. When he ends up capturing and raping the MC, he already had specially made chains that were able to keep the MC trapped (specially made, because the MC has special cultivation powers that can get him out of most traps)

Hot mess of a novel. The author brings up and drops major characters and plot elements at the drop of a hat (or flick of a sleeve) making the plot almost nonsensical in how rapidly it progresses. The CP is also pretty terribly done. The ML is a classic over the top yandere but the MC goes from despising to forgiving him so frequently and without any real reasons for the forgiveness. Like you ruined my life but then you cried a bit so I guess you're fine. Unless you're... more>> desperate for another BL cultivation novel I wouldn't say it's worth the hassle. <<less

I couldn't give this a bad score, but I couldn't give it a good one either.

The translation quality is fine. And the novel itself was interesting. Really. The ideas behind it were good, it's just that the presentation could do with some work. A lot of work.

Expect random weird transitions, clichés, rushed chapters, sporadic areas of lacking (vital) description, characters that abruptly disappear once they've served their purpose (tho some have none???), ignoring cultivation bases for plot (i.e. When MC needs to look cool), events also occurring solely for plot,... more>> etc.

You're telling me that MC was in seclusion for five years and ML was also in that ridge or whatever for five years, and ML just so happened to come back one month before MC emerged? And MC can generally beat opponents with a cultivation base above his? And he just so happened to be able to make it to that every-fifty-years secret realm that opened early, and then once he went to a higher realm and escaped medicine maker Liu, he made it in time for the opening of another one? And some dudes just keep appearing at all the right times to take in ML and MC and help them cultivate or whatever? I'd understand if it was just ML since he's the world's protagonist, but -_-

Personally I love this novel and some of the reasons why are (minor spoilers ahead)

    1. the plot is really good.
    2. the MC unlike all the other novels I've read grows strong and is comparable to ML.
    3. the two of them aren't too stubborn.
    4. Their love isn't too toxic and MC gradually falls in love with ML seeing his sincerity.
    5. In the end the ML apologizes sincerely to the MC and they start over.
    6. The MC isn't obsessed over the plot.
    7. the MC isn't obsessed over going back home. He gives up and decides to stay with the ML.
    8. The MC is calm and understanding. He doesn't have pe*verted thoughts.
    9. The supporting characters are also pretty likable.
Edit: Rereading this a few years later, I understand why people gave low rating. I hate the ML. Absolutely hate the fact that he stole MC's freedom and locked him up. Looks like my tolerance towards r*pe and locking people up has gone down.

But as I said in point 5 above, the MC forgave him in the end so I can't say much.
