A former office worker who was relatively competent but ultimately died of overwork.

In her second life, however, she finds herself far from being competent.

Bianca Soleike, the only non-mage born into the prestigious Soleike family of mages.

Unfortunately, she ended up possessing the body of the very Bianca, infamous for being synonymous with incompetence.

Thanks to her family’s influence, she managed to secure a job at the Magic Tower, but…

There was a massive problem:

Her boss was impossibly difficult to deal with.

The king of all mages, hailed as the greatest mage in history.

The unrivaled genius, Gillian Seaton.

Not only was he famous for his extraordinary abilities, but also for his notorious temper.

One day, he began looking at Bianca, the previously incompetent aide turned mysteriously capable, with suspicion.

“Why has my administrative aide suddenly changed like this?”

It would have been a relief if all he did was doubt her…

“How much do you want to know?”

“Everything.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re my administrative aide. You’re mine.”

His obsession is anything but ordinary.

Even with his shirt buttoned up to the very top, she finds herself at the mercy of the dangerously seductive employer whose allure screams decadence.

Bianca’s heart is barely holding on.

She thought he was just her boss, but it turns out he’s a possessive and dangerously passionate man.

I really liked this novel a lot. It has an interesting premise, and I seem to be a sucker for stories about aides who want to resign and run away from their hell careers.

Summary: Bianca Solake, an "ordinary person" without mana was born to a family of great and notable wizards. This was an unforgivable sin in the wizard communities, so she was instead trained as an administrative assistant and sent off to work for the greatest wizard of the era, Gillian Seton. The problem was this was that this... more>> world didn't have administrative assistants and, thus, no way to actually prepare someone for the role; they were basically shipping her off to get her out of their hair and (if they were lucky) get her killed off.

Everyone, including Bianca, suffered a year through this mess (with Bianca's terrible personality after suffering a lifetime of ab*se at the Solakes not helping), until our delightful, overworked, fully-trained, Korean transmigrator zipped into Bianca's body one day and took over her role. She streamlined the process of managing the Magic Tower, introduced the concept of forms to save herself from the constant shoddy (and frequently encoded) handwriting of wizards, and earned herself a rightful place despite (still) continuing to endure the scorn of wizards for being someone without mana.

Curious, the Tower Master, Gillian, who was starting to fall for the "new" Bianca, started delving into her past.

Spoiler

At first, it started as loaded questions, to which the current Bianca dropped hints (that he zeroed in on and pieced together), but when they became much closer she finally confessed that she died on another world and came here. This was a new kind of magic that even the Tower Master had never heard of before, so Gillian put in a lot of extra effort to try and discover what happened. It continually drained all of his mana, but he recovered memories that he was never supposed to see: three forgotten timelines where he helped the previous Bianca traverse through the barrier of dimensions to a world where she would be accepted. Time had wound backwards with each failure, until the current one where she succeeded.

There was a downside to this magic, though. One of the two who were exchanged through dimensions would die.

Additional intrigues:

Spoiler

There was a point at which the new Bianca started recovering the old Bianca's memories, revealing that she had been experimented on by her father and brother, who used mana on her body in two forbidden areas: the heart, where mana is stored, and her head. The young Bianca, raised in isolation, was crying to her mother about how much it hurt. There was also a buildup that might've lead to her mother dying under mysterious circumstances, and some sort of deal that was ongoing with the Solake Family council related to Bianca, the details of which were never discussed.

[collapse]

However, none of those storylines came to fruition. It felt like the author picked up the novel to write the ending after leaving it sit for a while, and forgot those storylines existed. Suddenly, Solake just wanted to get rid of her because she was a stain on the family name. There was nothing said about the supposed secrets in her past, and Bianca being in danger from the soul transfer was no longer mentioned.

They did wrap up the ending with a monumental event and tied it into Gillian's tragic past, which was all good because it did give the story a finished ending and lead us to learning more about our male lead, the Tower Master, but the fact that none of the original storyline plots were addressed made it feel like this needs way more than side stories. Maybe another 40+ chapters to the main story instead.
